While enjoying the roundtrip to explore Manama we also visited this fort.
This large area is remarkable as probably still parts are unexplored. When arriving at the top you can see a lot of Bahrain's surroundings. There is a nice bistro 'Saffron.
Well maintained area and good for a stop!

Lots of workers strolling through and construction out front, but not much going on within. Fort is in impressive shape, but zero signage. No one was there to charge us the nominal fee.

The Sheikh Salman Bin Ahmed Al Fateh Fort is a must visit in Bahrain. located next to the coast, the weather is lovely (we went around midday). Walk through the numerous rooms and be amazed by the moat (unfortunately its dry). If you enjoy a nice walk and soak in history, visit the fort.

My brother and I parked outside the fort and went straight to the restaurant as we'd been recommended the breakfast. Lovely spot with a fantastic view. Breakfast was amazing, 3 types of bread, samosas, pasty type things, and 6 types of dips and pulses. We shared one breakfast between us and couldn't finish it.
Had a nice walk around the fort. Not a lot of information about it but it made more fun imagining it. I think children would love it

After visiting The Tree of Life, we drove 20 km N following Google Maps through difficult Riffa. Parking was also a bit difficult to find nearby at noon. We walked the exterior, admiring the clean lines of its early 1800 fortress architecture, arriving at the back with its long view over a broad expanse of white housing. After winding through its interior, we exited the front and walked down to the Military Museum, noting its happiest visitor would be an interested local. Driving out on the main highway was easy access to the freeway northeast.

Came here with my son. Like most sights in Bahrain it’s free but very basic. We didn’t see any information about the fort and if I hadn’t had sat nav we wouldn’t have found it as the road signs were pretty well non existent. There is a restaurant here but we didn’t use it.

This is an extremely interesting Fort in great condition with great views over The Valley and as it is very quiet you can visit the different parts of the Fort almost on your own and it is very interesting visit

I loved driving into Riffa to be honest, it really is a world away from the bling of Manama.

The fort itself is just not ready for tourism, however we did go on a Monday which was probably not our best idea but we wanted to avoid the crowds of tourists at weekends. Just check opening times of other venues if you go in the week because the military museum down the road was closed.

First of all, we just went walking around the perimeter because the entrance isn't clearly marked. We ended up inside going through the cafe. This did look nice to be honest but we didn't stay to eat.

Inside was disappointing, so many rooms were locked, there was nothing much to see. The museum itself was 'broken' yet the man in the museum tried to get us to buy a ticket, it was only the nice security man who told us that the museum was 'broken' so don't buy.

I am glad I went but if you have been to the fort in Oman there is no comparison. Obviously the fort in Oman is prepared for tourism and so everything is clearly signposted and so on, this had nothing.

I would only go again if there were some developments or changes, otherwise go so you can see Riffa and a completely different style of living but the fort might just be a quick visit.

We got to the fort just before sunset and it had some nice views. When the lights went on after sunset it looked pretty cool. If the restaurant had some more choices I would have rated it higher only because we were told there was a place to eat. I guess we just assumed their would be more than sandwiches. Fort was definitely cool after dark. Not sure what time it's open until though.

I can’t believe that I have not written a review for one of my most favorites places in Bahrain… cant believe I missed doing so all this time…. the Riffa fort….
It is a quiet little place tucked away close to the bustle of the Riffa soukh…Depending on which route you take to reach it, Riffa fort suddenly lends to a calm and serene environment after you have driven through the crazy busy traffic of the Riffa Market.
You can walk through the fort and feel the historic past of those who would have resided there. It has a small but beautiful museum that you can enjoy.
It also holds a café where they serve traditional breakfast during the mornings and then tea and snacks during the day. The café closes at around 1700hrs. They have seating on a glass faced veranda that provides a beautiful view of the Hunayniyah Valley and at the sky line you can see all the way to Manama. Though the café closes post sunset you can go for a stroll to the fort and enjoy the view at night too.
Winters are the best time to sit and enjoy some beautiful calm moments with gorgeous views and yum treats and summer evenings are not that bad either.
A must try for all those who have a fresh air fetish.
