    Loved Hellesylt
Loved this waterfall. When we visited in early June the volume of water was incredible. At first glance there does not seem to be much to do at Hellesylt but we loved the place. It is really picturesque, there are great walks it’s easy to create you own walk there are ferry and boat trips and it is so close to the UNESCO fjord.

Amazing location with an amazing view
We arrived in Hellesylt whilst on a cruise to the Norwegian fjords. What an amazing place, so peaceful except for the sound of the waters rushing down the hillside. We got off the boat and went for a walk round the village. The waterfall is magnificent. Plenty of photo opportunities. Hellesylt was also the boarding point for a boat ride down the stunning Geirangerfjord. A must do if you go to Hellesylt.

    Simply Stunning!
We visited Hellesylt on a cruise, and to be honest I can't really say much about it apart from the fact that it is a stunningly beautiful village, with an impressive waterfall crashing through the centre of it. Paths allow you to view it from above and below, and you can also visit the church. The views speak for themselves, and I would definitely go again!

    Such a Highlight
An absolute highlight of my trip to Norway. Such a beautiful village, the waterfall is glorious. If you want to walk to the top bridge, do take the left hand path (by the church) for a gentle climb. I walked up the right hand side which was extremely steep! This is a really peaceful village - you can take a bus tour to see the local area, however, just being able to walk around Hellesylt was lovely. There is a Co-Op shop where you can buy supplies and also log on to Wi-Fi.

A really lovely place to spend a few hours . Lots of walks for all ages and abilities. We had a warm summers day with a gentle breeze which made it perfect. There is a camp site in the town and two supermarkets. I suggest you avoid the days when the cruise ships arrive !

As waterfalls go, it is not the most dramatic. However, it is bang in the middle of the town and the sound of the rush of the water is lovely to consume. The purity of the air in Norway is super and even more so at the edge of the waterfall. The is a climable rock on the right side of the waterfall as you look at it and you can take fab photos or touch the water when sitting on the rock.

The beauty of this place cannot be captured in a photo, it is a must see.

We disembarked from an MSC cruise ship and spent half a day here. We had a three and a half year old and a five year old with us. There was a small beach big enough for them to build sand castles and have a paddle in the fjord. The waterfall was great for exploring too. The surrounding scenery was stunning. We were thinking of boarding the ferry to Geirangerfjorden as it would have been a great trip to do. However, the children were happy and we were happy to spend time in this pretty town

Very cool, big and fast flowing waterfall in the middle of the town. There is a bridge at the bottom and a steep walk up to the bridge to the top. Worth a visit although not much else to see in the town as very small.

This town is really small but on a sunny day the town and the waterfalls that are right in town were amazing. Our cruise ship made an unplanned stop in this town and everyone enjoyed it. The town is very small but it is pretty, the falls are beautiful and there is a trail you can walk that parallels the falls as it goes up. Nice views of the town and falls from different view areas along the trail. The trail loops and returns to the town. Uncrowded place at the time I visited in May.

Hellesylt is a lovely little village at the head of Sunnylvsfjorden that is seemingly built around Hellesyltfossen, this truly beautiful waterfall. While it doesn't flow from very high in the mountains like other waterfalls in Norway, it is quite impressive and very powerful. The sounds of rushing water intensify as you climb higher up the hills to get a better vantage point of the fjords and a view of the waterfall from the top, which I would really recommend! We visited Hellesylt on a cruise as a replacement port after some other ports were cancelled due to weather, but it was a genuinely beautiful place to visit and wander for the day and hopefully we weren't too much of a nuisance for the locals.

On a day trip around the area and stopped here whilst waiting for our boat trip on Geirangerfjord. The waterfall is impressive but I bet it’s even better in May after the snow melt.

The long trip was worth it. Hellesylt is just a small village, yet it attracks many tourists. Hellesyltfossen is indeed a spectacular tourist spot in Norway! 👍🏼🇳🇴
