This was an amazing experience! Lily was such a patient instructor. First she explained the history of Mexico and where the different states were. Next she explained that how foods from the differ from each areas. We also had some sips of mezcal which complimented the foods. Then we started prepping meals which was very fun and simple to do. Once the meal was prepped we started cooking and it was exciting to see our meals come to life. By the time we finished all the cooking we were very hungry and ready to eat! The first bites were so good! My girlfriend and I really loved the experience. If we visit Tulum again we will definitely visit Lily for another cooking class.

We did 2 different cooking classes in Tulum with our family of 4 (kids are 14 and 17)-both were good, but they were different. This one was a group class taught by Lily-there were 11 students, while the other was a private class (taught by Lina). We had fun meeting the other people, but definitely this was less hands on than the other one. A highlight was sampling grasshoppers and mezcal. We made tortillas with corn flour (vs the other class where we ground the corn). There wasn't enough space in the kitchen for everyone to participate in most of the cooking, so there was a lot of down time. (the other class has a much larger custom teaching kitchen). We did each get to make tortillas and chop some vegetables. The final meal the night we were there was pretty bland-maybe because some of the other students didn't want spicy food. Lily gave us a good overview of Mexican cooking with a power point presentation before we started making the meal. Overall an enjoyable experience but if you really want to learn to cook delicious Mexican food, consider signing up for the private class with Lina.

Wow! I can't express my gratitude to Lily enough for what an amazing experience her cooking class was. This class is an absolute gem and so is she! If I could leave a 6 star review, I would. Lily welcomes you into her home and gives you an authentic Mexican culinary experience.
It was so fun to be in a class with others from all over the world while working together to prepare an amazing lunch. Not to mention our mezcal break in the middle of the class. We got to make and try familiar foods and things I've never had before.
If you enjoy cooking, don't miss the opportunity to learn from Lily!

We were just coming back from our Mexican trip and it is important to us to leave some comments here for the cooking classes with Lilly
first of all, it is an incredible family and a super authentic experience in the middle of the jungle.
We had organized the activity through Sabine from the Azura hotel and we had an incredible time at cooking with Lilly. on top one of the unique chances to have private classes with her (which was important to us due to the covid situation)
Let us summarize the activity with her: She is an outstanding personality and one of 1 million people you will meet in life. super well prepared process and ingredients. Great taxi by her son Alex (which will be like her one day :) ). Just all in all a 100% recommended adventure if you visit Tulum. You will love the fun, her and her family.
Lilly, thank you very much for the time and the flexibly on Sunday (making an exception for and with us).
See you soon, I am sure in another context.

My husband and I thoroughly enjoyed LIly's cooking class! She was so much fun to cook with, dance with, and made us feel very comfortable throughout. The food was delicious and she was so knowledgeable in the kitchen. I would highly recommend this experience

I was surprised with an evening cooking class with Lily, learning how to perfect authentic Mexican cuisine. The night was so engaging, intimate and full of laughter and wisdom sharing. Lily is the real deal, and knows how to simplify what seems to be difficult recipes. It was lovely to tour the garden and getting to pick some ingredients we would use later on. We were lead through an educational Mezcal tasting, which really helped me understand why Mezcal is so special. To personalize this experience, you are able to customize the menu to what you want to learn about. Mid-way through the class we changed a thing or two so we got everything out of it we wanted. Towards the end of the night we met her Son, adding to the intimacy of the evening. I walked away feeling like I have added members into my family, and visa versa.

Lily taught us how to use fresh Mexican ingredients and turn them into delicious Mexican food. We started out with a short history lesson, then we all worked together to create the dishes. When we finished we all sat down to a family style meal. She does this in her home, and makes you feel so welcome. Had a wonderful time, and will be doing this again with my husband next time.

Our family and our friends' family -- all nine of us, including five 20-something kids -- had a wonderful time cooking with Lily. Everyone had a favorite dish and Lily could not have been nicer or more informative. I've had many cooking class experiences on vacations over the years, and Lily's class ranks at the top.

What a wonderful evening we had at Lily’s cooking class. It was so lovely to have the cooking class at Lily’s home with her beautiful family and animals. Great food, fun and laughter.
We are hoping to visit Lily when she attends an international food festival in London :)

Lily was an incredible host! She welcomed us into her home with open arms and opened our eyes to authentic Mexican cuisine. The 5 course meal was absolutely fantastic and was one of our favorite meals our entire stay in Tulum. Lily's passion for cooking was reflected in the food. This is a must if visiting Tulum! You get to learn some new recipes and techniques while meeting new friends. What more could one ask for!?

Hello,
I am interested in doing the cooking class. Is it a full day? Is it in Tulum central area? Is the class in English or Spanish?
Many Thanks

Hi! The class was in the late afternoon or evening. I don't remember the exact time but I think we started around 5pm? I remember we left around 9pm. It probably depends on what you'll be cooking that evening, but basically you'll be making, and then eating, your own dinner. It is close to Tulum center - we were staying not far from the bus stop (which is kind of in the middle of their main street) and we took a cab. I mean honestly in Tulum you'll be taking cabs everywhere because they are so safe and cheap and convenient. It's at her home actually, so you really get a very intimate experience. We had about 8 people in our group, me and my friend and then a few couples from around the world. Lily speaks excellent English, she is very warm and welcoming and very smart and knowledgeable. I really can't recommend her enough. Hope this helps!
