Thanks to its fantastic position Tulum archeological site is one of the most visited and photographed ones. For more info on how to visit it, please read my detailed review about it.
As I mentioned in that review, I carried my backpack with swimwear and towels all the way in that heat in order to swim beneath - on the Mayan beach.
Unfortunately it is NOT possible - the stairway to the beach is CLOSED due to Covid until further notice. You can only admire it from the cliff above.

This beach was worth walking down the stairs. After walking around the ruins in the heat, it was great to cool down. A nice treat! Even though there were lots of people, still lots of room to enjoy your own piece of paradise.

There is a stairway that leads down to the beach from the Mayan Ruins. It seems like a very difficult way to get to the beach. The walk to the beach is very far from the parking, and the steps leading down are very steep. There was a man asking for money to rinse your feet off on the way back up. No real place to put your belongings except for the rocks against the ledge and even then, its not safe as this place is packed with tourists. I wouldn't want to walk the trek back to the parking lot being sandy and salty.

This Beach is off the Cliffside of the Tulum Mayan Ruins. There are stairs that lead down to the clear blue ocean with white sands. We toured the ruins and found the beach where one of the temples are. Its quite an amazing site. Clear waters, clean sand, native wildlife making appearances. Must see.

You access the beach from stairs at the Castile in the ruins. Gorgeous view of the white sands and azul waters of the sea. The waves crash up on the rocks and the shore and are fun to play in. There are iguanas everywhere. Not a big beach and there are no change rooms or bathrooms so wear your suit, bring a drink and enjoy this little piece of paradise for a while! FYI - for the ruins you do not need to go with tour group or hire guide if you want to know about the ruins - you can download an app for iPhone or iPad that tells you all about each structure in the ruins.

Definitely a very unique beach, as the Mayans ruins overlook the entire beach. It wasn't possible to go on it though due to the newest covid restrictions.

I have traveled to 30 countries around the world, including 18 Carribean Islands, and this beach, with its magnificent, super soft powdery sand, bright turquoise water and ancient Mayan Temples as a backdrop, is the most beautiful, exotic beach I have ever seen.

You'll be able to stroll through an ancient time among the wonderfully preserved ruins of the ancient Mayan City of Tulum, and then stroll along the sand into the lukewarm waters of the Caribbean Sea. The sand was so white, when you disturb it in the water it looks almost like you poured milk around your feet.

a quick 10 minute stroll and you can shop amongst the descendants of the Mayan people, still there after thousands of years, selling their handcrafted wares, proud of the heritage they now share fall all to see. This place is a must for those that love culture, history, beauty, and beaches! It is also an easy excursion from Cozumel.

Has to be visted very first thing in the morning as later it's packed with tourists. It's very small, so gets crowdy very quickly. The view from above from the Mayan ruins is more beautiful than the beach itself.

We went to the ruins are a day with high winds. The beach was therefore closed and we could not walk on it or swim in the water. But from high above the beach looked very pretty and I will make sure to go here the next time I visit.

My wife and I have vacationed on the riviera maya for 25 years. In all of our travels , from Cancun to Belize, we have never seen a beach like Tulum beach. From the ruins south to the Sian Kaan Biosphere....spectacular!!! This will be our 4th year renting a villa there. If you like to party it is not the place for you, but if you like to get away from the hoards of tourists and loud hotels......this is the spot. Plenty of restaurants on the beach and in town with excellent food , from Thai food to pizza and all your favorite mexican dishes. Downtown has all the shopping opportunities that you would find in Cancun or Playa Del Carmen, but cheaper and no large crowds. The locals are very "Mayan" and sweet , always willing to help with a smile. .......louis5150
