It was one of the most amazing days in our lives :)) Because of covid, we ended up having a "private" tour - just me and my fiancé. Our guide Francisco was amazing!! He's got a lot of knowledge and is very friendly. For starters, we saw manatees, which are very rare to see. They were curious and we could see them very closely. We also saw many bird species and nests as well. Then we were lucky to see several dolphins, one of them also jumped up from water to show off just in front of our boat. Then we were extremely lucky to see some turtles and again a curious one. We had a close look at it and also we could see it eating a seaweed under water! The tour also includes snorkeling and chilling in a natural pool, delicious breakfast and lunch. I will remember this day for ever! Thank you.

This was one of the most wonderful days i have experienced! The trip was very well organised and all if the staff made a huge effort to make this a magical day. Our guide Ricardo was really knowledgeable and clearly felt very passionate about the wildlife and habitat we explored. Jesus, our driver was also full of loads of information and his sharp ‘eagle eye’ meant that we were able to find some incredible wildlife- we were lucky enough to spot a giant turtle,a manatee (which is apparently very rare to see), crocodiles, and a pod of 5 dolphins who entertained us with some playful jumping out of the water! We also spotted many tropical birds and saw lots of beautiful fish when snorkeling on the reef. We were looked after really well by the staff at the lodge and enjoyed a delicious breakfast and lunch. I would absolutely recommend this trip- thankyou guys for an amazing day!!

The Wild Dolphin Tour truly exceeded our expectations! We are a family of 5 so had a boat to ourselves with our wonderful guide, Pancho. He is so knowledgeable and really wanted to give us a great day. The nature reserve is beautiful, with a mix of mangroves and Caribbean Sea. Thanks to Pancho we saw 2 dolphins and sea turtles, who swam within metres of the boat. The mangroves were full of many local birds such as Frigate birds, brown pelicans and egrets. The snorkelling on the barrier reef (the second longest in the world) was fantastic, teeming with fish and corals. We also swam in a natural swimming pool and visited the town of Punta Allen which was truly charming. Lunch was at the Fishing Lodge, Pesca Maya - simple yet delicious local fish and Jamaica Juice. Despite not seeing the manatees and crocodiles which Pancho was desperate to show us, we were thrilled with our day in this peaceful and beautiful preserve.

We booked this tour during our stay at Dreams, Tulum. At this price point, we weren't sure what to expect but we were looking forward to the trip. The shuttle picked us up at 6:30 at the hotel and drove us down to Sian Ka'an. The ride was normal until the start of the eco reserve. From here, there is no normal paved road but only a dirt road which was completely washed after the rain period with potholes bigger than everything I've seen before. It took us 20 minutes to go 3 kilometers to the boat dock and we were more than glad to switch to our boat for the rest of the trip. We were greeted by our guide Pancho who was also the boat captain. He handed us our life vests and we started the tour through the mangroves all the way to our first stop - the Pesca Maya fishing lodge. Here we had a little breakfast (two pieces of quesadilla and scrambled eggs with ham) and grabbed our snorkeling gear before getting back to the boat dock again for the actual tour. Pancho drove us through the huge lagoon all the way out to the Caribbean Sea. On the way we made several stops to watch a plethora of birds and also a crocodile and a turtle. It was fascinating to see how the color of the water changed from brown and muddy to green, to all shades of blue and crystal clear (from paradise light blue to dark blue-green) during the ride. We stopped at a coral reef for snorkeling. The sea was a bit rough but as we had life vests on anyways, it wasn't a problem. It was just amazing - warm crystal clear water with interesting things to see. Afterwards, Pancho took us to a sand bank for a little swimming before we went out to the ocean again to see the dolphins. It wasn't hard to find them by just following the other boats. We came really close to a group of 5-6 dolphins and it was very interesting to watch them in their natural habitat. After watching them for a while, we went back to Pesca Maya for lunch and then back to the boat dock and back to the hotel. We loved this tour as there was just so much to see and lots of interesting information given by Pancho. It isn't the cheapest tour but is definitely worth it! The dolphin spot aside, we were there on our own (an occasional boat passing by but definitely no crowds) and could enjoy the amazing wildlife! Don't forget to bring sunscreen (biodegradable if you want to swim and/or snorkel) - you will ride through the sun a lot. There's a sunroof on the boat, but you will need lots of sunscreen nonetheless to not get burnt by the Mexican sun. All in all, the tour took us about 10 hours - including the transfer from and to the hotel.
