I got relax there near the fountain and chilling at shade with wifi, I spent time there meanwhile my family was shopping. There are many good brands stores, plus aditional I discover an amazing terrace with restaurant upstairs ocean view.
The place has public toiletts and electric stairs also elevators and parking place.

touristy shops lots of China made trinkets stamped Mexico. Very crowded as multiple cruise ships are in port at the same time. The shops are very clean but beware the prices are far from good. If you are going to buy haggling works. There is a pharmacy there so you can buy typical American drugs with out prescriptions prices are slightly lower than the USA. There are many tours leaving from here and you can book them right on the pier

Nothing that you probably haven't seen before, but nice to have a stroll around...once, or to get out of the heat for a while into the stores with good air con.

Avoid this unscrupulous wine shop.
Although they have a decent selection of wines (from around the world), the prices are ridiculously expensive, even for the Mexican wines (which are not as bad as one might imagine). Figure 50 to 100% more than the prices you would pay in US or France.
Last week I purchased 4 bottles. One was a bottle of Piper-Heidsieck red label champagne – it was totally cooked, turned, and dark brown in color. I uncorked it and it was undrinkable…. I live in Paris so I know what this wine is supposed to taste like. It was rotten, old, turned. I returned (twice!) to the wine shop asking for a refund or exchange. They refused!
I have never encountered such an aggressive and dishonest commercial policy. I urged the seller to taste the toxic wine; but he said no thanks, he believed me that the wine had turned, but said they still wouldn’t refund or exchange, it was their policy not to refund money paid for rotten products. Once purchased, the risk of a rotten bottle was mine.
Avoid this place like the plague! Very “Third World” feel, tourist trap, totally unprofessional and dishonest. Go instead to Sapori di casa (a very good Italian epicierie fine; with a fine and well chosen selection of Italian wines.)
I dealt with a certain “Roman” and then with Trinidad. Dishonest crooks in cahoots with the even more unscrupulous owner. DO NOT BUY FROM THESE THEIVES

Nice to have a mall close by to the resort to grab whatever you may need. Also nice to run into when it is sweltering weather.

If you really do need a shopping fix - or have to buy something essential - then it's all here and in the surrounds. If you're coming from Playacar direction, then the journey towards the real centre of Fifth Avenue starts a bit disappointingly. Oddly, the least attractive places in Playa del Carmen are closest to the nicest hotels in the area.
Further up it's much better choice and quality - you could be in a US or European mall, although characterful local brands and shops have elbowed their way in.
Hard work in the heat of the day, but plenty of airconned big names to dive into.

Had an opportunity to schedule an excursion for a day of shopping in Playa.Del Carmen. The first 1-1/2 hours was spent at a Mathis Jewelry and Tequila Gift Shop, totally of the beaten path. The Tequila gift shop prices were very high, no negotiation. Once we arrived at Playa we were given 2 hours to shop. Visited some of Kiosk's street sellers. Very vulgar when negotiation does not go there way. The prices in the mall stores were also high similar to airport Kiosks. We were not impressed.

Quinta Alegria Shopping Mall is strategically located on Quinta Avenida near the beach, restaurants and cafes. Our little party made at least 5 trips to the mall during our week in Playa del Carmen. One will find a number of familiar stores in this mall including Victoria Secret, Forever 21 and Starbucks. In the center courtyard, there is plenty of room for those who would prefer to relax, enjoy the scenery and savor a cup of coffee. The basement parking makes things convenient, and close to all the "hot spots" on Quinta Avenida.
Our favorite store in the mall is Europea, a wine, liquor and delicatessen that carries imported products from all over the world. Europea is an excellent alternative to the Duty Free stores for wine and liquor shopping. The deli counter carries an assortment of smoked meats, cold cuts and other hard-to-find goodies.
We enjoyed our trips to Quinta Alegria, and plan on returning during future trips to Playa del Carmen.
