Fast transportation, clean, comfortable seats. An excellent way to cross between the island and the mainland. Very inexpensive. The trip across is about 35 minutes.

Our group wanted to take a day trip over to Cozumel. This ferry company was the cheapest rt/pp costing $20 each. Overall, the ferry was great. There were options to sit outside or inside, it left on time & arrived on time. My personal problem was sea sickness. We sat up top on the trip over and even though it was only a 30 minute ride, I started feeling ill right as we ported. On the way back I thought sitting in the air conditioned cabin might help me, but 5 minutes before we arrived, I nearly lost it in my seat. I bolted to the back where this lovely ferryboat attendant helped me to the bathroom. Unfortunately, the bathroom wasn't air conditioned so that didn't really help me but I saved all the other riders from my misery. The nice attendant checked on me once and then again when we docked. She helped me back into the cabin area to wait for my family. She stood me under a very cool A/C vent & gave me smelling salts. She was so kind. I wish I remembered her name to say Gracias! I would recommend this ferry boat for the price, timeliness, seating options & the kind staff who helped me when I needed it.

We took this Ferry to Cozumel for the day. It was about $20/person roundtrip so a great value. They offer various times to depart and arrive so it works out well. Inside cabin is air conditioned and that was nice. It took about 30 minutes to get across to Cozumel. We sat outside on the way back and watched the sunset. A great value and a great ride.

We purchased two round trip tickets the evening before so we didn't have to wait in line for the 7:00 am. However, when we arrived at 6:45 am we found out the 7:00am ferry had been cancelled until 7:30. We had to be at our excursion by 8:00am so that wouldn't work. When we asked for a refund so we could purchase through another ferry, the ladies were not friendly about it at all, nor would they refund our tickets we had purchased for the next trip. I learned two lessons today: 1.) Don't purchase ferry tickets ahead of time AND 2.) Don't use Barcos Caribe.

We embarked on this ferry ship on our way forth and back from Playa del Carmen to Cozumel. The trip forth was during the daytime and we were sitting on the top section outside. The views at this level were AMAZING! I vividly recommend trying to board early so that you can rush to seat upstairs. Plus, I did not feel much sea sickness at this level (might have also been because my stomach was still empty at this point). The ride lasts about 35-45 minutes.
On the way back from Cozumel, we sat in the bottom section. There, there was minimal views of the outside only but the ship had flat screen screens playing popular Youtube videos and short vines. There was also free wifi. It would have been perfect if it was not for the acute sea sickness I experienced. The ship was going so fast that it amplified its constant up and down movements. Moreover, I had just had dinner in Cozumel which I'm sure contributed to my discomfort. This 35 minute-ride felt like an eternity. I was trying hard to keep myself from throwing up the entire time. Eventually, a hostess noticed me and brought me a sickness paper bag as well as some cotton balls dipped in a strong alcohol (smelled liked rum). After smelling it, it lowered my sickness and helped me manage it all the way to the destination. I also felt comforted in the fact that many people around me also grabbed these rum cotton balls (even some who looked like seasoned ferry travelers).
Overall, I do recommend Barcos Caribe but beware of sea sickness.

You have three options to ride between Playa de Carmen and Cozumel. Barcos Caribe is one of them. Getting to the ticket booth is half the challenge. You will be bombarded with all kinds of deals, most of which involve presentations for time shares. Go to the ticket booth, buy your ticket there, one way only because it leaves options for your return. The boats are clean, most seating is inside with some outside, and the crew is around to help keep it clean. Wife said the bathrooms were great. Seasickness will depend on the seas and the seas do not play favorites to the various operators. Rough seas hit all and the motion sickness stories follow them all. They check your luggage so you don't have to carry it with you and that is quick and easy. My son negotiated a lower than list price for our trip, 110 pesos as opposed to 135 pesos on the sign. Count your change. This is transportation from the mainland to an island, nothing more. Workers, tourists, and the curious fill the boats. Enjoy your trip.

Terrible seasickness!!!! My family was so sick. I lucked out and did not get sick. The ferry ride was sooo rough!!! We usually ride the Ultramar ferry (spelling), from Port Tortuga, to Isla Mujeres; however, we decided to use Caribe to go to Cozumel. I have read their reviews and so many get so sick, on this ferry. The poor little babies were even throwing up. My kids begged me NOT to take the same ferry back, but what do you do. We did grab some Dramamine while in Cozumel. It did work for the ride back. So, if you intend to take the Caribe ferry, eat some Dramamine before you go!!!!

Cheaper than UltraMar, the boats are all new and it has very good price for residences and locals people . Unfortunately it covers just the Journeys between Playa del Carmen and Cozumel .

Took the ferry to cozumel and we were given a stamped sheet with the highlighted departure times from cozumel back to playa del carmen. When we arrive at 4pm as the highlighted sheet said, they said they didn't depart until 5pm. Ended up taking a different ferry which was less expensive and a better experience. They do offer to sell you soda while sailing though ;)
