Wow- what an incredible experience! Our guide picked us up before sunrise, gave us fruit and yogurt for breakfast, then we embarked on an hour and a half ride 30 miles off the coast to the marine reserve. When we got there, there were a lot of boats, but also about 20 whale sharks. Only two people are allowed in the water at a time with each shark, so once you’re in the water, it feels like a private experience. Swim hard so you can stay next to the whale shark! Our captain and sailor were extremely knowledgeable in spotting the sharks and pulling the boat up parallel so you could jump off and be right next to them to start swimming. We had three opportunities to jump in and swim with them, each for about 5 minutes. On our last swim, we had 4 whale sharks surrounding us at once. They are magnificent. On our way back, they stopped off the coast of Isla Mujeres for us to swim and eat ceviche, watermelon, and a sandwich for lunch. Our only wish was for better photos. We left our camera on the boat and chose to pay for the photos so that we could be fully immersed in the experience, but were really disappointed with the quality of the photography at the end- especially since it’s an extra $40USD. The photos either had us, or the shark, but never really both. Overall, it was an incredible, unmissable experience! A friendly tip: take the sea sickness pills, even if you don’t usually get sick.

An experience of a lifetime!! Highly recommend this company. We got to swim with the whale sharks multiple times, and we were literally inches away from them! Always felt extremely safe. Moises was a wonderful guide, and the crew was amazing as well. The crew would also point out sea turtles as we would pass, and we enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Isla Mujeres prepared by the crew. Ham sandwiches, ceviche, guacamole and watermelon. The beach there was beautiful, and they allowed us to swim off the boat there. All in all, this was a day I will never forget! Thank you Eco Tours!!

Had such a great time! Gonzo was our guide and he was amazing! I was a solo traveler, and felt cared for and taken care of the entire time. The rest of the group (about 8 or so people) we’re great as well. We all had photo opportunities which was nice. This was my first time snorkeling but did great, Gonzo was checking to make sure I was good periodical which I appreciated. We saw so many turtles, sting rays, and fishies! The cenotes were beautiful as well. 10/10 experience so glad I chose this one.

This was the most incredible experience. Swimming with these gorgeous creatures was the highlight of our trip. Our boat captain always dropped us in the water right in front of where the whale sharks were swimming, and then we swam along side them for a few feet. We got to do this three times! Magical every time. We then went to a beachy area and relaxed and the cevice and guacamole they made on the boat for our lunch was some of the best I've ever had. The one thing I wish they would have done, is tell us beforehand that the video they took of us diving was going to be $40 in cash only. We did not know, and as such had only brought enough cash to tip the captain and dive master, and as such missed out on this opportunity. I would have loved having that video. But they did send some lovely photos of the whale sharks for free and that was sweet.
