They only have a few animals left. 2 Chimps, 3 Jaguars, 3 gators and a pecary. If you want to see animals I would go somewhere else, as I don't think they are even open as a animal park anymore.

Its my understanding that due to a hurricane a while back that they cannot put anymore animals in this place. I did see alligators, monkeys & cheetahs as well as many cool looking birds.

Very nice and natural, with a sanctuary, pool, sushi bar, and restaurant, and two souvenir shops. Lobby bar and some activities. A drive to a beautiful ocean takes about ten minutes.

No, the rooms are behind the enclosure however, if you are in the 700 block they will be very near and as they roar it is awesome.

Animal Encounters (7 Replies)
We will be travelling at the end of March with a 6 year old. She would very much like to see some animals, like parrots, monkeys, jaguar, dolphins ... Where is a good place to go? I've read about the Bel Air Animal Park but I have some ethical concerns about the treatment of the animals at places like that and the dolphin encounters. I'd much prefer some kind of wildlife sanctuary or jungle excursion. Anyone know something like that?

Xcaret is the only place I know of where you can see a jaguar. They have many animals, numerous parrots, so in one sense it is like a zoo. You can feed the giant stingrays, and watch the giant manatees. The turtles are a popular attraction. The equestrian show at about 5:00 PM is interesting to watch, such precision. They have a Mayan Village with authentic handicrafts for sale. The night time "Espectacular show" offers some of the best Mexican entertainers in Mexico. I have seen jaguars,...More
