We recently took the full day Cobá Mayan Encounter excursion from our hotel in Cancún. It was a fairly long 2 hour bus ride to get there. Upon arrival there were clean bathrooms and locker facilities. Our small group of 6 were guided through the jungle on a short hike, to a Mayan ritual site where we received a traditional blessing, before continuing to reach 2 different zip lines. We carried on to the Cenote that required us to repel down a deep dark hole to enter the mouth of an underground, fresh water cave. And finally, we canoed across a small lake to end up back at the main site where a delicious traditional Mexican lunch awaited. Throughout , the staff were friendly and helpful, and our guide Pepe was outstanding providing us with interesting facts and calm, clear concise instructions. He was particularly supportive and encouraging to those on the tour that felt nervous a various junctures. The group was then driven to Coba, the last remaining Mayan ruin that you can still climb in Mexico. Again, Pepe shone as our guide, taking us through the area and providing interesting information on the ancient Mayan culture. We the had free time to climb the ruins at our own pace. We enjoyed the various activities and pace of this tour which felt comfortable and unhurried. I would highly recommend this tour. Pepe was an excellent, knowledgeable and friendly guide.

My girlfriend and I took a trip to Playa Del Carmen for a wedding 12/2-12/9 and decided on this tour of Coba for one of our free days. We were lucky enough to have Paco as our guide, he was fantastic. He was very knowledgable enthusiastic about the Mayan sites, and seemed like he really enjoyed his job. A guide who enjoys their job goes a long way in the tour experience, and his enthusiasm was infectious. We both had a great day, and would recommend the tour with Paco to anyone going to the Coba area.

We stayed in Play Del Carmen for Christmas with 27 people and we were amazed at the variety and fun on this tour. We had people from ages 7 to 70 that were able to enjoy a short kayak ride, 2 short zip line rides, repelling, swimming in a fresh water cent cave and a tour of a mayan ruin and lunch at a local Mayan village. The education was great for everyone. Our tour guides were awesome - Ivan was one of them. I would definitely recommend.

We where a group of 4 friends (2 couples - 1 handicapped) and booked tour to cenotes, Chichen Itsa and village of La Naranja. Especially the village tour did impress us. We where treated like friends and had a very good lunch in a private house. Stefanie was well prepared and assistance also for the handicapped person was excellent (transport by cargo bike through the village).

What an amazing day! With four in our group, the boys wanted to see the Mayan ruins and the girls wanted to zip line. This day trip hit those areas and then some! First we repelled off a cliff, did two zips lines, hiked through the jungle (next time I'll bring better shoes), canoed, visited a Mayan village, swam in a cave, and went on a bike ride through Coba and the boys got to climb to the top of the highest temple! We were also served a delicous lunch in the mayan village. It was about an hour and a half ride from our resort to the first location. Our tour guide "Alex" was awesome! He was super knowledgeable, fun, and made sure we felt comfortable and 100% safe the entire time. I absolutely recommend this trip! *One tip, they tell you not to bring money but I'm glad we at least had a few bucks on us so we could purchase drinks and a few souveniers after exploring Cota. Alex made sure the vehicle was locked everywhere we went so our bags were safe while we were out having fun. Also, there are photographers but at the end of the day they want $150 for the prints per couple! If you want the pics for the entire group, the price goes up. However, they do allow you to bring your own water proof camera so that's what I would recommend you do. Then you could exchange email addresses with the group and share.
