Myself and two friends did a one day private tour with Volker. We visited Coba, Villalido and a nearby cenote. We enjoyed the food and the day seeing Mayan ruins in Coba and the Monastery in Villalido. Both Volker and our driver were wonderful, gracious hosts.

I could go on and on and on about how absolutely PERFECt this tour was! We were a group of 4 girls (hey, thats what Volker called us, so I'm going with it, even if we are all 40! lol) in town for a long weekend celebrating one of our 40th Bdays. We had plenty of fun stuff on our agenda, like pool and beach time, dolphin swim, club night, bar crawl, dinners, etc, but I wanted to make sure that my girlfriends and I had the opportunity to see the "real" side of Mexico, outside of the Hotel Zone. I found Volker here on Trip Advisor, and immediately knew by his rave reviews that he was my best bet. I sent him a list of the items I wished to do in a full-day trip and he responded timely with an itinerary of what could be done. We decided on his all-day Mexico Lindo Tour (adding in a couple of personalized stops) and I booked. His communication until the trip was wonderful. Told us what to bring, what to expect. He picked us up from our hotel in his clean vehicle, and we were off! Everything he said we'd do, we did! And he was friendly, funny and informative the entire time. He even brought along his GoPro and was kind enough to send us a link to all of the video and pictures he shot that day. (This isn't part of his services, but we happened to luck out that he was in need of some updated footage for his website! Woohoo!) I can't make one single complaint about one single moment on this tour. We felt safe at all times and it's apparent that he has a good reputation with the locals...he got us some great deals at the souvenir markets! :D Feel free to ask anything and everything and enjoy yourself with him. He's very personable and laid back. We're a bit of a sarcastic, fun group, and he rolled with the punches well. If you happen to be the more serious type, he'll fit that bill just as well, with his plethora of information regarding the area and it's people. So whatever you're up for, Volker is your guy. I travel a LOT and always look for these types of tours outside of the regular tourist traps, and he was by far, one of my favorites! (That's saying a lot, since I only have 2 from the dozens of these types of tours I've been on!) A+

Whenever and wherever my husband and I travel, we always hire tour guides so we gain the full experience and history of the area(s) we are visiting. This time was no different except that I booked my tour on-line based on reviews I had read instead of getting referrals from people I know. I was very nervous hoping I had chosen a reputable tour service. We could not have been more pleased with Volker. We spent the day with him for the Mexico Lindo tour and then a half day for a tour to Tulum. Volker picked us up promptly, and in route to our first destination at a working jungle camp, gave us a history lesson. He was well versed in Mexican history, horticulture and Mayan medicinal uses for plants native to the area, and understanding of the culture. We were thrilled to end up in a small town of which there were no tourists, and we were able to witness everyday life via tricitaxi, all the while receiving a history lesson. We ate fresh juice and tortillas, visited a local wood maker, home and cemetery and got a close look at daily life. We also visited a cenote, quiet, and with no tourists. Though too cold, due to a few days of rain, to swim on the day we went it was a beautiful site. Volker also helped negotiate prices for many items I wanted to purchase at the market. I always find that tour guides can be extremely valuable in saving money on purchases and this was no exception. We ended our tour with a lunch of fresh fish tacos at a beach-side restaurant. A few days later Volker picked us up for a half day tour of Tulum at our request for a shortened tour. my husband And I wanted a quick history overview of Tulum without the crowds and with a guide who could provide so much more information than walking the park alone All in all, We truly had a wonderful day on both tours. Though I know he will develop a tour suitable for each party, we, personally, appreciated a non-touristy tour and it was evident he has built great relationships with the locals to be able to provide such an intimate tour of their lives. Without hesitation, I would book my next tour in the Yucatan region with ONLY Volker.

My wife and I ,along with our two teenage sons thoroughly enjoyed our tour with Volker. He had first hand knowledge of the area, the people, and the many species of wildlife. The pace of the tour was perfect; not hurried and rushed like so many other tours. Bathing suit, sandals and camera all thats needed.Seeing dolphins, turtles, and wild birds in thier natural habitat was truly magnificent.Enjoyed a nice local lunch.Hope to tour with Volker again.

Volker picked us up from our hotel exactly on time, 5:30 am. Seemed early, but he knew that by getting to the ruins early we would beat the heat and the crowds. All day long we were one step ahead of the large tour buses. Volker told us stories about what we would see and he was full of interesting facts about the area and the people. He also took us to some great shops and attractions off the beaten path where we were able to get some great finds, including authentic Mayan chocolate. We had a great day with him at a reasonable price. We would recommend him to anyone visiting the Cancun/Riviera Maya area!

I really enjoyed doing the Mexico Lindo tour. Volker was very informative. The highlight for me was visiting the widow and the orphans. We brought some groceries and some stuff from the States for them and they really enjoyed our gifts. I would love to visit them again.

We've visited Mexico several times, but never saw it like this. We were able to visit a working jungle camp and a small town where we got to see how the people really live. It was a really rare and authentic experience that we wouldn't have been able to get without Volker's intimate knowledge of the area. We brought home some lovely wooden souvenirs that we bought directly from the family that made them. Swimming in the cenote (underground river) and eating fish tacos overlooking the blue sea at the end of the day were a great way to finish out the day. Highly recommended!

I can highly recommend a private tour with Volker's. He knows the area extremely well and has highest respect for the natural enviornment, the Mayan people and their culture. He picked us up at 7:00 am and dropped us back @ 5:00 pm (after an added trip to a local market to help us get the best price on a hammock!)
We asked for a tour with 1/2 history and 1/2 nature and that's exactly what we got.

This is my third tour with Volker and they never get old (or redundant)! Volker's love for the Riviera Maya and his deep knowledge and respect of the Mayan culture sparkles through every tour creating a momentary sense for a tourist of being a part of something really special. I look forward to future visits to the area and to spending the day with Volker learning and sharing his reverence for this very special part of the world and the people who shaped it's amazing history. Don't miss your chance to do the same!

My wife and I went to Playa for our honeymoon last week, and wanted a day to see the area and check out the sights. A friend told us about a tour they took which they recommended to us with Private Tours. We booked a day tour for Tulum, Cenote Dos Ojos, Turtle Bay and the natural aquarium. Our tour guide was Hector and the driver was Benjamin, and they were awesome from start to finish. A very personal experience which was priced similarly to the generic parks like Xel Ha/Xcaret and big group tours. We were the only two people for the entire day, and the guys were great. Knowledgable, friendly, let you go at your own pace, had a van with A/C, waters, etc.

They whisked you into the parks, paid the entrance fees and the many tour guides hanging around at all the sights left you alone. Hector kept close enough by but let you do your own thing.

My wife's favorite was snorkling in the caves and I loved Akumal beach and turtle bay. Such a cool experience. They also provided lunch at this adorable little hotel restaurant which was great. I recommend the tamarin margarita!

Overall we ended the day tired and thrilled with the experience. It was just over $200 per person which is about the same as the generic man-made parks and big tours which don't allow for you to relax and take it all in at your own pace.

I would absolutely recommend these guys if you're looking for a great way to enjoy the area and best sights.
