This is our second time booking a tour with Jay at Your Private Tour and we were even more happy this time around than last time even though we didn't think that was possible! Jay was able to schedule our tour on short notice which we really appreciated. Salvador was our guide and was very informative, friendly, and really made the whole experience excellent. He was extremely knowledgeable about the history of Tulum which really provided context as to what we were seeing when we toured the ruins. Both the customer service and the tour itself at Your Private Tour are excellent and we will continue to recommend Your Private Tour to anyone we know visiting Riviera Maya.

We first used Your Private Tour back in December of 2010 based on the recommendation from some friends. It was just my wife and I, who happened to be 5 months pregnant. Jay was awesome and extremely helpful. That trip we toured Tulum, snorkeled the cenotes, had the lunch, and snorkeled Yal Ku and also snorkeled with sea turtles.
This trip (March 2022) we had a group of six, our oldest son, his wife, my two daughters (including the one who my wife was pregnant with our first trip with Jay), my wife and myself. Our plans with Jay were a little last minute, but he was able to arrange an excellent experience my family will not forget. Salvador was an extremely knowledgeable and friendly guide and was awesome. We toured Tulum, had the lunch (which was great), and snorkeled at Yal Ku.
They were on time in a newer van, were well equipped with water for the hot day, provided us with lots of facts and history of the area, and supplied good equipment for snorkeling. We could not have asked for anything more. We will use Jay and YPT the next time we come. Book with Jay and you will not be disappointed.

This was our 4th tour with YPT. This time we had a crew of 12, and they do what they always do... THEY WERE AWESOME!! They're always professional, courteous and on time. They definitely go out of their way to plan a fun filled day away from other tourists crowds. Even taking you to some of their favorite, and out of the way, restaurants. The food is always delicious and we love visiting these smaller restaurants. You never feel rushed to jump from one excursion to the next. I believe it's because Jay only selects reputable spots that don't have the high traffic of other tour companies. We can't thank Jay, Salvador (our tour guide) and Rooster (our driver) enough for making this memorable experience for everyone!! You won't find another tour company with this type of care for their clients. I promise!!

We chose to use Your Private Tour because they offered just what I was looking for. Tulum ruins plus two different types of cenote snorkeling and lunch included with transportation from our condo in Playa. Their price was very reasonable for the full day of activities. Our guide Salvador and driver Benjamin were fantastic! We first visited Tulum because it gets very crowded and can be quite hot during the day with minimal shade. He provided great information about the Mayan history behind the site, Next stop was Dos Ojos cenote which was a cave type with beautiful formations and a bat cave! Then was a great lunch at Jungle Fish in Akumal on the white sand beach. Last was the Yal-ku lagoon also in Akumal which opens to the ocean and had lots of tropical fish to see including parrot fish which was my favorite. Salvador allowed us to spend as much time as we wanted at each location because of it being a private tour. I highly recommend booking with Jay at Your Private Tour! We will definitely book exclusively with them on our next trip!

We had a group of 12 people for a private excursion. We went zip lining, swimming in a cenote, snorkeling and had a really tasty private lunch at a local restaurant. Our day ended with a super fun tequila tasting. Our guides, Salvador and Rooster, were very professional and fun. We had a great time and highly recommend booking with this company.

We used these guys through a friend’s recommendation. Wow!!! We went for the Tulum Tour Zipline, Bat Cenote then snorkelling off a sea/river inlet. Absolutely the best day of the holiday.
Our tour guide Salvador was knowledgeable, friendly and courteous. Also our driver Benjamin was second to none.
I’ll be back for more next time particularly the whale sharks as they’d migrated.

We had an incredible time. Salvador, our guide, was amazing, and Jay made the entire process easy! Transportation was excellent and they catered to our needs the entire time. Would highly recommend for any group wishing to see a bit more of the area.

This tour outfit came highly recommended to us by another guest at our resort. I cannot say enough good things about every part of the operation. They were on time, professional and made the experience the highlight of our trip. I want to particularly give thanks to our guide Salvador. He was extremely knowledgeable, kind, friendly, and easy to be with in every way. Sorry Jay, but this man needs a raise.
I was very impressed with him not just as a guide but as person in general. High respect for this man and what he stands for in life.! Keep up all the good work Salvador.

After reading all of the glowing comments and seeing that it was rated so highly my fiance' and I decided to spring for the basic package + mayan ruins + sea turtles + camera rental package = $320. We were totally excited for the Hummer and VIP experience as other users shared in their review for the premium paid for the service.
Here's how it turned out:
- Jay was booked so we got Danny instead
- Danny was super nice but didn't speak good english so he was quiet most of the time
- No Hummer.. We were picked up in a super compact car and I'm almost 6' tall
- My knees were in my chest most of the trip
- My fiance got physically ill going down rough roads to/from the caves in the super compact car
- We were dropped off/picked up at the ruins. Nobody gave us a "tour" of them
- We didn't learn much about the caves except that they were in a movie
- The rented underwater camera turned out the worst pics ever (see added photo example)
- We aborted the trip after lunch at a great road side mexican cantina not finishing the sea turtles and snorkeling events
Meanwhile, we ran into Jay on a few occasions. He had another group in a luxury Lincoln SUV and all seemed well with them. He has a vibrant personality and was well known. Jay was good to follow up via email before and after the trip. He offered the $30 camera rental back but couldn't make it to my hotel until after I checked out. He then offered to make up the 2 events that we skipped on our next return to Playa. We declined.
In summary, Jay is obviously the experience on this attraction. If you do get him then you should be comfortable knowing that you're in for a great excursion. If not, beware!

i truly regret that the clients did not have a wonderful time. when they changed their original day i explained it would be with daniel (who speaks wonderful english and lived in the U.S. several years) in a rental car. that was agreed upon and they seemed grateful for the last minute change to the next day. i met them at the ruins to be sure everything was going well and all were happy. they explained they were feeling a little under the weather for getting back to the hotel at 6am that morning after a night at COCO BONGO'S but otherwise all was well. our web site explains that we are not able to accompany the clients through the ruins as we are not federal guides and that is what the law requires. we are with the clients guiding and directing for all other activities except the ruins. when i saw them at lunch they did not take the opportunity to tell me they were unhappy. i thought all was well considering they gave daniel a generous tip of 800 pesos. when i contacted them to say i didnt feel the photos had turned out well and that i wished to refund the money i was told not to worry about it and that daniel had been very patient considering the circumstances. this review was very sad for me to read and i regret their experience was not wonderful. sincerely!

I planned on using Jay from your private tours. Our first few text interaction was wonderful. I was very excited to see chichen itza with his tour company. My boyfriend and I switched hotels. When i advised him of this, he told me that red flags were up and that the tour was cancelled. After explaining to him the details why we changed, he still cancelled the trip. We ended up renting our own car and going alone. After doing this, I suggest to everyone first of all not to use this company and second of all to go on your own, you can save over 80%. Compare almost 460.00 for two people to 11.00 entrance, gas and car- 120.00. No guide is needed, you can hire a guide there for much much less!!!!
I am very disappointed the way Jay handled the changes. I do not recommend using this company.
