I walked into Scuba 10 (November 2020) & booked a trip for the next day to dive in the Cenotes. Irene spent 30 minutes with me talking about the kind of dives that I liked, how much experience I had, informing me of current diving conditions. It was a thorough discussion & gave me a good sense of the type of Operator that Scuba 10 is. Next day I arrived at the shop, filled out some paperwork, met Carlos & we drove to "El Pit" Cenote. Just me & Carlos - it was a personal dive tour. Carlos told me on the way to the Cenote what I needed to know. The Pit does not have snorkelers, only divers. The day we went we arrived after the early morning groups, but before the afternoon groups so we saw some flashlights in the distance during our dives, but were able to move at a nice slow pace without interruption. An incredible, peaceful experience. Second dive was "Dos Ojos" Cenote. This is a shallow dive, never more than 25'. Also beautiful and peaceful under the water. This Cenote is popular with the snorkels, which is fine they not near the dive entrance / exit. The water is probably 15' below them so they did 'stir up' any silt. The water here was as clean & clear as the Pit even with many more people. We had lunch at a great restaurant on-site & came back to the shop. This was a Full Day diving experience -- we left the shop around 9AM and returned around 4PM. Carlos did an Outstanding job! Upon returning he gave me special Cenote stickers for my dive book, signed off on everything, & we were done. I came back the next day & bought a shirt from Gerardo & he gave me Scuba10 stickers as mementos. Overall, Scuba10 is a great Dive Operator & I am looking forward to diving with them again on a future trip. One note of warning -- If you are going to dive a Cenote (and you should!) know that this is not Caribbean Ocean water, they are about 72 / 73 degrees.

I have two reviews here in one. First, I came here on advice of a friend to get my open water certification-- the team did not disappoint and I can't recommend them enough. The gear is great, the team is great, everything was safe and informative, and the dive spots were epic. It was an amazing way for my to get my open water certification. Jose was my instructor for the open water. He was very helpful and informative while being the perfect amount of chill, supportive, and positive. The dives were great, we saw 6 foot turtles, eels, pistol shrimp, and too many fish to name. Jose was great pointing everything out and giving time to take everything in. Definitely recommend Jose for anyone looking to get an open water certification in the most fun, safest, attentive, and overall best fashion possible. Second, I had the great privilege of going to Cenote El Pit and Taj Maha with Carlos--such an awesome guy and elite dive leader. Words would not describe how incredible the cenotes are (really, go look at a picture). El Pit and Taj Maha are unlike anything else I've ever experienced, like another world. Carlos was the perfect guy to lead the dive, which I went on with two other friends of mine (who also had an unforgettable experience). Carlos walks you through everything you need to know before getting there, preps you for what to look for, what you will see, and the best ways to enjoy your experience in the Cenotes. Once you are down there it is incredible, and Carlos is very thoughtful in planning your dive around the ideal times for the Cenote and for your group. He will be sure everyone is safe while also helping you maximize the dives to the fullest, giving pro tips along the way. He also has great recommendations on food spots in Playa. All of these things I'm saying do not even get into the many intangibles of the dive provided by Carlos and Scuba10, like great conversation, being happy to take photos for and with you, and help with safety and gear check. All in all, you will have unforgettable memories and experiences on this trip, For your Cenote dives, absolutely go for Scuba10 and, if you can, absolutely go with Carlos.

I had two good days of diving with Scuba10. I did two dives out on the local reefs - strong current on the first dive, much calmer on the second. There were just three divers plus our dive guide, so it was an easy afternoon for the two dives. Lots of schools of fish on the second dive. The surface interval was a bit short and I think that effected my dive computer, but it was manageable. Two days later I dived the Centotes - The Pit and Dos Ojos - and both were excellent. I met my dive guide for the day - Johnny - at the shop and we check-out the equipment and loaded up the truck - it was just the two of us. There seemed to be a number of dive groups but we must have timed it right because for both dives it was like we were on our own. Both The Pit and Dos Ojos offer unique experiences and both different, so it’s hard to pick which one I liked the best. For the Cenotes diving, it included lunch inside the park after the second dive and before heading back, and this was excellent and a chance have a beer. The dive guide on the first dive and Johnny for the Cenotes were both excellent in getting everyone the right equipment, explaining the dive plan, entry and exit, hand signals, etc. As a Divemaster myself, that is what I expect in a good dive shop and dive guides. I would highly recommend Scuba10 if you are beginner and want to learn to dove, or if you’re an old hack like me. They were great.

Scuba 10 the best diving center in the mayan riviera No Doubt!! Irene, Gerardo and his team are very friendly and professional, they have very good equipment and their own boat called GoHa which allows a unique and above all safe experience. They offer tours at all levels from beginners without any diving experience to expert divers, visits to the different reefs of Playa del Carmen and Cozumel also to the cenotes and caverns of the Mayan Riviera. I have already done everything 100% recommended. Irene, very patient and professional, gives you a feeling of security and confidence, she also has a specialty in photography and in different dives you can get very good photos to remember. In my case, I came to Scuba10 on the recommendation of a friend in 2017 Without any experience in diving but wanting to see the depth of the sea, they first gave me an introduction to the pool and then go to the sea and reefs since then I have become addicted to diving. I decided to specialize first in open water then in advance and I have been going 2 or 3 times a year right now I am about to start my rescue diver and dive master course ... all with scuba10. For diving in Riviera Maya scuba10 is the best option !!!

I am reluctantly writing this review because it officially signals the end of amazing month with scuba 10 (for this trip at least). You will not find a more professional, experienced, personal, and just overall fun dive shop in playa. I had zero dives under my belt before coming down a month ago and now I am advanced certified and have 30 dives to my name. If you’re looking for a reputable dive center to get your open water certification for the first time...this is it. If you’re looking to get an advanced or rescue diver certification...this is it. If you want to experience the best of Cozumel...this is it. If you want to dive cenotes and feel like you’re part of their Mexican family...this is it. Whatever your dive goals may be, scuba 10 has the most amazing staff ready to make your experience amazing. I’ll detail my experience below so you have an idea of what to expect. Open water cert: 3 days total. 1 day pool and 2 days ocean diving. I was trained by Miguel and Alejandra. Both of them took amazing care of me, made sure I was comfortable, and provided an amazing base of training and skills that prepared me for ALL of my future dives. 10/10 for their open diving course. Advanced certification: My girlfriend flew down to get advanced certified with me (she already has an open water) but hadn’t been diving in 5 years. We ran a bit of an extended program here to ease her back into diving and also spent an extra day in Cozumel morning training. By the end of our advanced training, we had 8 dives all custom designed to teach us specific skills and train against multiple scenarios. The week I spent training advanced with scuba 10 was easily one of the most fun weeks of my life. Cenotes: SCUBA 10 OFFERS AMAZING CENOTE TRIPS. I dove 7 cenotes over the course of the month with scuba 10. I couldn’t get enough. They offering round trip transportation, a dedicated expert dive master, and many trips even include lunch at or around the cenote spots. Nervous about cavern or cenote diving? Don’t even worry, Carlos and Jonny (your cenote dive masters) flood you with a sense of confidence and safety to create a diving experience you will never forget. DO THESE. Ocean / reef diving: I mean come on. You go to their shop, they drive you to their boat, captain Arturo welcomes you onboard, your dive master briefs you on your upcoming dive, and before you know it you are face to face with sea turtles, beautiful coral, lobsters, barracudas, rays, and 1000s of other examples of marine life. There’s no one else I would do an ocean dive with. Hands down. OWNER AND EMPLOYEES: Gerardo (owner): with over 15000 dives Gerardo is the owner and operator of scuba 10. The man is absolutely amazing and will work with you to create the perfect dive experience for your skill set and interests. His amazing energy radiates through the shop and makes you feel welcomed instantly. I laughed within the first 30 seconds of meeting him. Irene: (operations, dive master, patrona) my girlfriend and I got advanced certified by Irene and did probably 10 other dives with her. She is absolutely the best dive instructor in Quintana Roo and possibly all of mexico. She works closely with Gerardo to custom design your experience and meet all of your needs. I would trust this woman with my life. Alejandra: She is the big sister you wish you had. Badass, hilarious, smart, and one hell of a dive master. 10/10 dive experiences every time with ale. Carlos: The king of cenotes. I spent many hours diving with and getting to know Carlos. He’s one of the best divers I have ever seen and will make you feel comfortable and prepared for every single cenote dive you do. He also was my guide for a local playa reef dive and we had an absolute blast tracking marine life for some underwater pictures. Jonny: I spent two afternoons diving with and getting to know Jonny. The guy is an absolute expert and a great teacher. We did some Cozumel reefs and one of the more technical cenotes in the area. Can’t say enough good things about this guy.
