we booked a round trip transportation from the airport to the Isla ferry, and the driver was very prompt and professional both times! We will always use this means of transportation moving forward. Way easier then a taxi or a bus. The price was extremely reasonable and we recommend to everyone

We booked a 10-hour Private driver (van) with Playa del Carmen Tours for a day. It was perfect! The driver, George, was bilingual and extremely helpful. He went above and beyond, instead of just driving us to our desired destinations, he offered great suggestions for possible sights to see and pointed us to a really good restaurant for lunch. He suggested the most amazing cave cenote that was a highlight of our day. He also didn't just wait in the van for us but actively showed us where to buy tickets for our destinations and where the entrances were etc. Honestly he was more like a tour guide than just a driver. Thanks George for an amazing day!
This was a great option because we could choose what sights we wanted to see and stay as long as we wanted, instead of being part of a standard tour.

We booked the Rio Secreto tour with Playa del Carmen Tours. We had a great time being guided through the Rio Secreto caves by our guide Mich, who was informative, entertaining and made us feel safe throughout. He also spoke excellent English and really added a lot of fun and interest to things e.g. in relation to the plant and animal life. The geological formations are fascinating and beautiful, and we particularly found floating in the water in total darkness for a minute a really memorable experience. Walking and swimming through these caves is magical and we really strongly recommend it. They're also doing lots of conservation work and clearly care about the history and future of the place. The water is not too cold (about 23°C) - wetsuits are optional and provided. Water shoes are provided if you don't have your own. Lunch afterwards was a small buffet, not fantastic, but okay. We're a vegetarian and a vegan and we did okay! Shuttle picked us up and dropped us off without any issues - very convenient. The booking and customer service was excellent - we needed to rearrange the day + that was super quick and easy. They even changed our pick up location to closer to our Airbnb + it was stress free having booked through this site.

I was extremely disappointed with the Chichén Itza clásico tour on April 26th. According to their website, the time in Chichén Itza was going to be 3 hours. One hour and a half with a tour guide + another 1.5 hours of free time on your own.
This was also confirmed when I called Playa del Carmen tours on the phone. This was misleading and deceitful. The tour is run by Cancun Bay tours (but sold by Playa del Carmen tours) and the tour guide said that according to Mexican federal regulations tours are not allowed for more than an hour and a half. When I showed him that the website says that the tour permits 3 hours in Chichén Itza, he said that the information is obsolete and not updated.
I checked with my hotel and they told me the information provided by the tour guide regarding the time restriction was incorrect.
My family traveled from Europe more than 24 hours to spend hours in Chichén Itza. The only reason I booked this tour is that I was promised on the phone a total of 3 hours in Chichén Itza. Instead, the tour seemed to be focused on making multiple shopping stops (which were not mentioned in the tour description), which took valuable time away from the main attraction.
This tour was a waste of my money and Playa del Carmen tours' website and customer service reps are confirming information that is not accurate. I don’t believe COVID is the reason for this, because the COVID protocols offered by Cancun bay were poor, to say the least. Mask protocols were violated constantly and the van was extremely crowded with no social distancing.
I seriously believe that I deserve my money back. I would recommend others to book private transportation and buy your Chichen Itza ticket at the site, instead of taking this tour.

My husband and I took private round-trip transportation from Cancun international Airport to Playa del Carmen. The prices were very fair and the entire process was very easy and smooth. As soon as we walked out of the terminal outside, our driver was waiting for us with a sign with our name on it and quickly escorted us to our private vehicle. I highly recommend private transfers over sharing a shuttle or a bus with a large amount of people! You will end up saving so much more time doing this and it is very easy to find out who you go with and where you go. The vehicles were very clean and sanitized between each use, that was very clear to us.We would use them again absolutely for couples trips or with all of our children!

Before signing up for this tour, I specifically called their toll free number to find out whether the Chichen Itza part of the tour would remain 3 hours as advertised, or was it reduced like all the other tours I talked to in person after I arrived in Playa Del Carmen. I was ASSURED over the phone that we would still get to spend a total of 3 hours in Chichen Itza. Even though other tours accommodated my itinerary of being picked up in Playa and dropped off in Tulum, and they would go to Cenote Ik Kil which I prefer, I still opted for this tour ONLY because of the one extra hour spent at Chichen Itza.
To my surprise, I was put in a Cancun Bay tour (which I had previously talked to and found out that they could only allow 2 hours at Chichen Itza but charge $28 less). So there I was, paid more money and didn't receive what I was promised by Playa Del Carmen Tours. I was beyond disappointed and frustrated, as I have literally spent hours researching on a tour that allocates 3 hours at Chichen Itza. It's extremely unprofessional to give false advertisement through a live agent on the phone. No excuse of maybe the website was not updated.
We ended up only getting 1.5 hours at Chichen.
Needless to say I won't recommend this to anyone.

We researched about 7 or 8 companies on Google for our vacation in Playa Del Carmen, Tulum, Cancun and contacted about 5 of them. We drew the list down to two companies and finally selected Cancun Discounts, as we had received quick, informative responses from Silvia. The quotes were reasonable, and Silvia’s approach was very professional; she showed great interest in what we wanted to do and at the same time did provide other options. We received prompt responses to all our emails, all round great team collaboration!
We are glad we chose Cancun Discounts and based on our experience, we would recommend Silvia and Cancun Discounts to travelers looking for great vacation ideas and also based on our experience, a safe and secure payment method. We felt at ease as Silvia tailored made the trips for our vacation package. Her patience, attention to detail went above and beyond, she did not miss a beat.
The entire team that responded in between were all polite, businesslike and courteous.
We would hire Cancun Discounts again, as and when the need arises again. It was a great customer experience!

We booked two tours, a catamaran tour and an all-day snorkeling adventure.
The all-day was canceled because of the weather, so nothing we can do about that. You refunded our money, so thanks.
BUT the catamaran tour should have been canceled as well. Out of about 30 people on the boat, at least half if not 3/4 of the guests got sick. The ocean was so choppy that day, the catamaran should have never left the dock!
But there is a rain or shine policy in such small print that no one noticed and then didn't want to lose the $108 plus another $25 in transfer fees we paid.
IN ADDITION to poor decision making by the captain to continue, they gave me a life jacket that was WAY too big. I told them it was too big, but they insisted it was right. It would not stay put and lifted over my head continually causing my snorkel to knock off my mask and take on water to a point where I just gave up and went back to the boat.
Additionally, the trip was misadvertised. It said Lobster, Burgers, Chicken or Steak lunch. No lobster, tilapia. I would have never paid $108 for this had I known the operators of this excursion were this misleading and inexperienced. I won't book with you again.

The reservationist was very responsive to a last-minute change in our group size and our tour guide was exceptionally accommodating. We encountered timing constraints (few ferry options to/from Cozumel to Playa del Carmen which made us late to arrive and early to leave) and unexpected health issues relating to one member of our group which precluded his ability to participate fully in our itinerary. Our driver was friendly and very helpful, quickly navigating our entrance into Tulum and in hiring a local guide at that site. He made the most of our abbreviated time (only 3 1/2 hours of our planned 6 hours were available to us) and with deft driving skills ensured our timely arrival for a return departure. The instructions provided by your company with my reservation confirmation were very detailed and included all necessary information. As the leader of our group, I simply did not assimilate all the stated recommendations. I definitely recommend this company and would use their services again.

Edmundo Carvallo was such a great guide. He was very knowledgeable and friendly. The excursions were the right amount of time and very enjoyable. We felt safe the entire time as temperatures were taken at every stop as well as hand sanitizer distributed. Everyone on the tour, including Arthur the driver and Mundo our guide, wore masks. The lunch was amazing with generous portions. We even saw alligators fighting in the lagoon next to our lunch. The cenote was beautiful and very relaxig. The whole day was amazing.

Hola viajeros!!
Cuál me recomiendan?
Y me quedaría Akumal.
Toda la información que me puedan pasar por favor!!

Hello! We are excited for our trip to Playa Del Carmen in June! We are interested in the Whale Shark Tour. How many people will be on the boat with us? Also, do we have to wear wetsuits or vests? Can we bring our own?
Thanks!
Johann&Sandra

Hola! We are excited for your trip too!!!
There is a maximum of 10 people on the boat (plus 3 crew members), but how many are actually there on that day depends who signs up.
You will wear life vests while on the boat heading out to the snorkeling location. Once there, you can either wear a snorkeling vest or a wetsuit. This is required by law on this activity so everyone has the same policy. You can bring your own if you like, they will just have to meet the safety standards.
I hope this helps answer your questions, this is a super awesome activity, I'm sure you will have an amazing experience you will never forget!
If you have any other questions, we are standing by to help, 7 days a week via email, live chat, or phone. You can find our contact information by clicking the "website" link at the top of our listing page. Have a great time!

possibility of scubadiving as well as snorkeling
Johann&Sandra
8,376 contributions
Hi Joey! Yes, this area is great for both activities, and we offer great options for both. It is possible to do both on the same trip, but consider that the best locations for scuba diving are not generally the same places that are the best for snorkeling. For example the dive sites might be really good 60 feet down, but the reef from above might not be as good in that area, or vice-versa. For this reason we recommend to do separate trips for diving and snorkeling rather than on the same trip. For more detailed information please contact us through our website by clicking the "website" link at the top of the page and we can fill you in on all of your options.
I hope this helps answer your question, but if not we are here to help.
