Review these pro-tips before arriving to this amazing park!
There are already several thousand reviews so leaving just a punch list of pro-tips to consider before arriving at Xcaret: 1) Pack comfortable water shoes or purchase them at the park to move throughout the park/activities comfortably. 2) Bring refillable/insulated water bottles, there are filtered water refill stations throughout the park. Stay hydrated to enjoy the entire day! 3) Bring a waterproof phone case/bag or purchase them at the park so you never miss capturing a memory of your experiences. Also keep cash on hand so you can tip the workers generously. 4) Check out La Cocina Restaurant for an amazing authentic Mexican buffet (included with Xcaret Plus ticket) and enjoy the horse exhibit (check schedule before arriving) while you eat. 5) Consider exploring the non-water features (Aquarium, Shark, and Sea Turtle exhibits, Aviary, Butterfly Pavilion, Mayan Village, Chapel/Cemetery) first before rushing into the under rivers or enjoying the beach or snorkel areas. You can drop most of your belongings at a rental locker while you enjoy these activities. Afterwards you can change into swimwear and you can stay wet and enjoy all the outdoor activities without drying off and changing. It will also be less crowded in the underground rivers when you go later. 6) Bring lots of reef safe/biodegradable sunscreen and remember to apply throughout the day or wear a long sleeve sun shirt to stay protected. If you forget or run out you can also purchase at the various stores at the park. 7) Keep cash available so you can tip the workers who are hustling to provide you great service and an amazing experience. 8) Plan to stay for the night show, you will not be disappointed. NOTE: If you are not participating in the activities that are additional or not included with your admission (e.g. Stingray Encounter, Swim with Dolphins, Sea Trek, Adrenalina, Snuba Reef, Paraxute, Snorkeling Tour, etc) you don’t have to wait in the long lines after entering the park (in the main plaza). If you change your mind later there are plenty of places all over where you can make reservations for those activities.

    Worth every cent!
I purchased the standard Xcaret day ticket with Buffett and round trip transportation, from a pickup location (for those not staying in a hotel). The park is pricey, but worth every cent. I’d recommend taking a taxi and going early, so you don’t feel rushed and can enjoy the park at your own pace. The return bus departs at 4pm and 9pm. I also recommend going to the buffet by the dolphin area and sitting on the top level. My buffet came with one free alcoholic beverage, which was a choice from a few beers. I really enjoyed my view while eating some of the best food I had in the Rivera Maya. The underground river can become very congested if you go when most of the your buses are arriving. I noticed several people, just relaxing in the river while most of the crowd was headed out to catch buses. This is the only establishment that I enjoyed and ranted and raved about to my family and friends. I didn’t feel overcharged as a tourist, harassed by vendors, nor did I feel like this was a low value activity to grab money from tourists. Moreover, I went with a 3 year old that loved this so much place. We can’t wait to go again!

    Cant recommend enough
Amazing, had such fun, park well kept, clean and staff overly helpful. We stayed at nearby hotel so we’re able to pop in and out of park at will throughout the week. If we only had one day, not sure we would be able to do it all.

    Great place
Lots to see and do. Amazing wildlife habitats. Great horse show. Great end of evening gala show. Park is very well designed and layout works well. Unfortunately, downloadable maps are confusing as is navigation with tha Xcaret app. But you’ll get it when you go through the park. And, speaking of park, makes sure you remember where you parked if you drove here.

    Wet fun in the jungle
Floating down a lazy river under ground and between crevices was great. Really needed in the hot humid weather of mid Aug. Lots of things to see like sea turtles, porpoises, shark, etc. Some Mayan ruins and some artisans selling souvenirs which were probably made in china since I saw the same thing in the airport. Paid about $350 per person for 5 day access. Not sure if that was worth it. Great area for under 12 year olds to play in water activities.

    Amazing day out
Visited today with my partner. We did the sea track, I would highly recommend. We did the snorkeling and got to swim with the Rays. The park itself is huge so much to do and not enough time in a day to do it all. It's absolutely stunning. The animals are so beautiful to observe. The food was perfect so much to choose from. All in all great day would highly recommend.

    Nice but busy and HOT!
We were staying at the Occidental next door so no need for transport. This is a vast park with lots of different attractions, kind of a zoo/marine park/historical reproductions place with some shows thrown in. There was a lot to do and you'd certainly fill a day there, 2 if you were doing it leisurely and seeing all the shows. We did the dolphin experience which was great, loads of fun and much cheaper than doing it in the states, until you get the photographs which are ridiculously expensive, doubles the cost of the experience which I was a bit disappointed about. It was great seeing the area's that showed Mayan life and interesting Mexican traditions such as the Church, Hacienda and grave yard. We found the underground tunnels really stressful if I'm honest. There was no limit on how many people were in the water at any one time and we were just unlucky, it was rammed and therefore not a nice experience, we were kicked, really painful when they are wearing flippers, pushed into walls and bumped into continuously, it was loud and claustrophobic. I would recommend wearing water shoes, 1 the floor is sharp and 2 you can then leave the rivers at certain points, say look at the installations at that stop and then get back in the river and continue. This also makes the heat more bearable. All in all a nice day and there were only 2 of us to pay entry for. I'm not sure if I was a family of 5 I'd find it worth the cost. But it was nice.
Dear visitor, Thank you so much for visiting Xcaret! Your comments are really valuable and we appreciate the time you took to write us a review. It's great to hear that you had a nice experience and you enjoyed our attractions. Let us share with you that the photos in optional activities related to dolphins have an additional price because they're more personalized experiences with limited capacity. In addition to being provided by a third party. Therefore, their rates are subject to their own sales policies. Even so, we'll send your feedback to the relevant departments in order to continue improving our experiences. It would be a pleasure to have you back soon and we invite you to visit our other theme parks such as Xavage, Xenses, or Xplor. For more information, you can visit our official website. Kind regards. Beyond expectations!!
Was so impressed with Xcaret. When the transport from our hotel picked us up at 7am and said they’d pick us up at 9.30 I wasn’t sure what we could do for 14 hours. However the day absolutely flew. We did the Plus experience which includes dinner, a locker and use of snorkels/flippers. Pro tips; - when you arrive, do not go straight to the river. Instead do the ‘dry’ activities. Ie the buttery sanctuary, aviary, chocolate making. Then when it gets hot, head to snorkelling, the river and the jungle boat cruise. - we took breakfast from the hotel and then used our ‘lunch’ to eat at 5.30 in the Mexican restaurant and watch the horse / mariachi band. Drinks / food outside of the package is quite pricey but there are no restrictions on bringing food/drink in!
Dear Georgia, Thank you so much for visiting Xcaret! We are so glad to hear that you had a great experience at our eco-park. All your comments motivate us to continue providing magical experiences to each of our visitors. It is worth mentioning that bringing food into the park is not allowed, since in many of our experiences we have restaurants or stores with food service. However, we appreciate your excellent rating and take your valuable message into consideration. You can spend the whole day and will not be enough
Huge place, you can stay all day long and have a lot of activities. There is a Publo Maya, very interesting. Also, a lot of birds or kinds and butterflies. They even breed them so I saw a 15 day recent born guacamaya, amazing. There is a river where you can swim for 800 m. Five restaurants with good food and a lot of other activities.

Great fun! We spent the day here, and it was great! Lots to do, different things to see! Our favourite part was swimming with the turtles in the snorkelling pool. The staff are so lovely and helpful & the food is brilliant too.

This is quite popular. I was more interested in the night show so only booked a night pass (which is really not that much less than the all day pass) but I had plenty of time in the park to do the River and visit the Mayan village. It is well organized with nice colored lines to help you find your way.

In regards to Covid safety the park is doing measures but guests are not social distancing and many are not wearing masks. During the show the mask wearing was better and all the dancers in the show are wearing masks.

It is great to visit, probably a bit too expensive for what it is.

We visited this park during our New Year cruise trip. We booked it through Carnival Conquest. Our daughter loves parrots and a parrots world it is! This is a very reasonable tour to book through cruise because the park ticket itself costs $100, and you pay the same amount for the tour which includes transportation and guide. It's better do it through the cruise because of the length of the tour. Since the park is huge and has so much to see, so it's a longer tour. When booking through the cruise you are guaranteed to make back to the ship so not to miss the sailing time. The ferry to main land where the park is is quite long, about 35 minutes. We were lucky to have a wonderful weather and calm sea. I can see in a not very calm day some may face sea sick during the ferry ride if not prepared. Our tour guide Karla was very cheerful and personal. She helped to transfer our belongings from the starting point of river floating to the end point so we didn't have to rent the safe and save us the time from having to make a return trip for the belongings. She explained the history and interests to the people who were with her and made sure everyone gets back in time for the final ferry. I highly recommend this park/trip. It's very beautiful and diverse. You get to enjoy the sea, the floating river, the tropical vegetation, the culture/history, the birds, manatees, dolphins, etc. If you go from cruise, just remember you'll need to prepare for a waving ferry ride.

This park surprised us by having 2 full days or more of things to do and see. The most popular attraction is the choice of 3 rivers to float on wearing life vests that take you through caves and jungle. The water is about 6 feet deep and the rivers each take about 45 minutes to complete the float trip. We also enjoyed the aquarium, an aviary, butterfly house, manatees, sharks, dauphins, Jaguar, puma, and bromeliad and orchid exhibits. There are nice beaches and snorkeling available as well as a children’s area but in the 2 days we did not do those since we could enjoy them at our resort, The evening show was very good and a definite must see, but lasted 2 hours with a lot of it in Spanish. This park had won awards for its ecology programs and we could understand why. Lots of activities for both couples and families of all ages. We stayed at the Occidental XCaret next to the park so we could easily walk there and back and even come back to the resort for a meal. Weekly passes are available for those who want to do it at a slower pace. This park requires a lot of walking over uneven trails so it is not very handicapped friendly and is not suited for those with limited walking ability.

Amazing day with way too much to do. We were on a cruise and if I had known about the size of the place and the boat ride and bus ride to get to it I would have probably opted for something else. That being said, this place is amazing. Ask you tour guide to recommend a restaurant. The four of us ate a very large lunch for about $70 american including tip at a beach side restaurant. The same meal here would have been atleast $60. If you want to see alot of stuff be ready to walk. If not pick a place on the beach and enjoy yourself.

It is a nice day out, we had lunch on the beach which was really nice and it worked out better than the buffet.

Be aware that if you have not booked the buffet option then avoid the restaurants as they will try to rip you off giving you huge drinks and forcing you to have alcohol.
Unfortunately they have no drinks menu and the staff try to sell you expensive alcoholic drinks, I did not enjoy arguing with the woman and we ended up walking away.

Hello! Thank you for your review. We are glad to know about your experience first hand. Regarding your message, drinks with alcohol are an option you can add to your meal at the moment, not matter if you try a la carte or a buffet restaurant. These are not included in the buffet, and you can take the decision to choose them off of the suggestions we can offer. Nevertheless, the Xcaret staff is trained under high Customer Service standards to assist you during the day of your visit. Please take our apologies if the service didn't meet your expectations this time. We will take your comments to verify our practices. If you wish, you can send us your information to customerservice@xcaret.com to start a detailed review. Kind regards.

We went to Xcaret last week, it was a great experience. We carefully managed our itinerary and did both the Blue River and the Maya River.

Our suggestion:
1. Pack light so that you can skip the lockers. They have great system to bring your stuff to the end of the river.
2. If you are buying the plus ticket, hold your buffet option till late in the afternoon. It would be a long day in the park if you stay for the show. Eat breakfast before you enter, and buy some snacks if you are hungry around mid-day. Eating the buffet around 4-5pm is a better option in terms of managing the energy level with less disruption to your itinerary.
3. You may consider do all the dry activities first (brown, white and blue routes) first and then go to the river. That way you may avoid the big hurdle of people in the river and have the comfort of walking around with your dry clothes as much as you could.
5, Stay and see the show!!! You won't regret it.

This park is breathtaking! There are so many things to see and do. We swam with the sharks, went down the river through caves (Azul river), saw hundreds of animals, visited the incredible Mayan village, watched the impressive drum show, etc... The food is plentiful and delicious. The show in the evening will forever stay in our hearts. It compares with cirque du Soleil. We paid extra for the dinner during the show and were really pleased as it was a 7 course dinner with very good drinks and a gastronomic experience.

The employees and artists at XCARET! are proud, friendly and eager to share their food, history and culture.

In Xcaret there are underground rivers, horses show, all type of animals, restaurants and the best is the night show. To make the most of our day, we followed the map for the various areas we wanted to see. This is our third visit and we still get excited to see the animals, snorkel in the underground rivers and swim at the beach. The show started at 7pm which was late after spending the day walking and swimming at the park. We recommend they start the show earlier since there are a lot of families with children and the show last two hours 7-9pm. The customs, the drama and music were amazing, a must see. We didn't get the ticket with the buffet included. We just bought food (a la carte) or drinks whenever we were hungry. In prior visits the food at the buffets was cold, not worth the price you pay with the ticket. Overall we recommend a visit to Xcaret if you are in Playa del Carmen or Cancun.

This park was BEAUTIFUL!
We bought Xcaret Plus tickets & all that meant was that we would have access to a beautiful underground/cave river & included access to the lockers as well as 1 buffet sit. We booked this trip at our hotel through one of the agents working with Expedia. He didn’t let us know it would be an ALL day trip (also one fault for not asking while we were booking). The whole bus ride there we were presented which a big range of activities for us to reserve when we got to the park. However we were never told none of them were included & it would all be an extra cost per activity so I didn’t like the way they did that.
We ended up deciding to only do 1 activity which was the Sea Trek & the 2 people photo package which was the greatest idea ever made. The park is HUGE. There’s different color lines on the paths to make it easier to find different places to get to. We walked around the park from about 9:45-1:30 then headed to the lockers to change into our swimsuits & competed the Sea Trek. I got to feed sting rays & touch them which was a cool experience.
We then floated the underground river & I have no clue how to swim but still was brave enough to do it. Best experience ever!
The night shows were nice but very long. By the time you get to them you’re so worn out that you’re just ready to go home.
We walked almost all of the park so I wouldn’t recommend buying too many activities or you won’t enjoy the park.
The photo scanning package was a bracelet that you scan & there’s camera spots around the park that take your picture automatically. We took about 120 pictures & still only paid $60
So definitely a good deal to not have to worry about your phone.

This was my 3rd trip to Xcaret but first with my children. I can not say enough how much I love this park. The animals, the culture, the beach, the food.. All of it is amazing. This tripnwas a little different due to the pandemic but even with restrictions, masks, and some things operating differently it was an amaz9ng day. My family chose to do the dolphine experience. We paid for the upgrade package which states 6 peiple max. We are a family of 4 and had 5 others join us so that was not accurate but it was still a wonderful experience. The only negatives i had was we paid at the gate 100.00 USD for photo package just to learn it would be another $250.00 if we wanted any of our dolphine photos. This was not disclosed at time of package purchase. It was not an expected expense and did limit other things we wanted to do. The other disapointment was we got there at 10am (had hotel group transportation so out of our control) and dinner tickets for at show was already sold out. With 2 children not being able to eat dinner until after 10pm when show was over and we got home was hard. I understand that with social dostancing the tickets are limited but had i been able to purchase in advance it wouldnt have been an issue. Unfortunately its an in park option only.
Litterally everything else was perfect. We could have spent 2 whole days maybe more exploring this park.
