I don't typically leave reviews, but I felt that I had to share my experience as I highly recommend choosing Cenote Xperience to dive in Cozumel.
First of all, if you are staying in Playa del Carmen or Playacar, and you want to dive in Cozumel, there are very limited options beyond taking the ferry across and meeting up with a dive shop on the other side. I understand there are only two boats licenced to cross from Playa del Carmen directly to the Cozumel dive sites (otherwise you'd have 20 boats zipping across every morning, and this would hurt the businesses on Cozumel). Cenote Xperience has access to one of these boats. I have done the ferry across and linked up with a dive shop on the other side... you have to get up super early, stand in line at the ferry, get on a ferry, find a way to the marina, and find your dive group (or go to the dive shop), and then get on the boat and go to the dive site. With Cenote Xperience, the dive master picked me up in a truck from my hotel and took me to their dive shop, got me suited up in gear, provided detailed instructions about how the day was going to unfold, drove me to the boat, we hopped on board and crossed directly to the dive site in a half an hour (since the water was calm in the morning). I got picked up at 7:30, and we were already finished our first dive before many of the boats were arriving from Cozumel for their first dive. After our lunch (baguette sandwiches, water, bananas) and our second dive, we boated directly back to Playacar. Without even taking into consideration the quality of the dive shop, this experience far outweighs the ferry route. When you factor in the ferry cost and the convenience, this is the best bang for buck by far in my opinion.
Further to that, Cenote Xperience is a family run business headed up by brothers Nico and Martin. Nico was very personable to deal with over whatsapp to organize the dives, and Martin was an incredible dive master and host. He provided the full experience that you would expect - detailed instruction, great conversation, and I respect his diving expertise greatly. My only wish is that I had time to experience a cenote dive with them, because I received such a great experience without even doing what they are known for.
Big thanks to their team for a great time - this is the only way I will dive Cozumel moving forward, and I look forward to trying cenote dives with them next time I'm down there!

We absolutely loved our day with Cenote Xperience. Everything ran so smoothly and we appreciated the attention we received working with a small dive shop vs. a larger company. We are advanced divers and our son is a beginner Open Water Diver. Nico did everything he could to make it a fantastic experience for all 3 of us. We have dove worldwide and the 2 we did in Mexico's Cenote's rank as some of our favorite dives! We would highly recommend Cenote Xperience. We're so glad we ended up booking cenote dives instead of open water dives as the weather was windy and the other guests at our resort said their dive trips were canceled. So, if you're looking for something truly unique and that you can do rain or shine book cenote diving with Cenote Xperience!

We just had an amazing diving experience with CenoteXperience and we can’t recommend them more if you’re interested in diving near Playa del Carmen and Conzumel.
They do ocean dives as well as cenotes and we did two ocean dives in Conzumel today. We rented all the equipment from them and everything was just perfect. I had a bad experience with a non-functional BCD on my last dive so this part was super important for me personally.
The whole communication via FB/WhatsApp was very easy, they responded promptly and were always very professional as well as friendly. Carlos explained everything very well and what I loved the most was that he really adjusted everything to our beginner level experience and we both felt that we were improving through our dives. We always felt very safe and comfortable with the whole crew.
Their prices are very reasonable and you can also pay by card which is not a given in Playa del Carmen.
To be honest, everything about our diving today was perfect and we can’t wait to dive with CenoteXperience again in the future!

After diving on Cozumel a whole bunch wanted to try cenotes, and was recommended these guys by a dive buddy who dove with them before, and loved the experience. I did book a hotel few blocks from their dive shop, but it ended up that they can pick you up and drop you off from/at your hotel regardless.
I went diving El Pit and Dos Ojos with Carlos. The whole experience from booking, (they even could accommodate my almost last minute change of the dive date), to transportation to the dive sites, to diving was absolutely top level. Carlos was very knowledgeable and helpful, and helped me with rearranging some of my gear and redistributing weights to improve my trim and buoyancy. The experience of diving in cenotes was completely different from my "open water" diving from before, and these guys helped to make it into some of my best diving memories. Great thanks to everyone from Cenote Xperience for the dives!

Had a great experience and will dive with Cenote Experience again. Right on time to pick me up at my hotel and took me to the dive shop where I filled out paper work and were off. All the needed gear etc was already loaded in the truck ready to go. Guide was very knowledgeable about the features we were diving in and just about anything else I had a question about on the way. They also do open water dives which I would certainly book through them as well. Once of the best dive experiences I've had. Cenote dive was a great experience and would recommend it to anyone in the area!

If you are looking for a safe, reliable diving company with amazing people who obviously love what they do and want to share that passion with you... CenoteXperience is your diving company.
Six years ago I dove with Cenote Xperience, then last week I had the honor of diving the cenotes with them again. Everything from the guides, the equipment, the prompt ride from the hotel lobby, accommodations, and the thorough explanation at the beginning of each dive is performed with care and professionalism. They know the history of the caves, and show you interesting things throughout the dive. We dove Dos Ojos and The Pit this time. They are passionate about what they do... they love diving, they love the cenotes and it shines through in everything they do.
I highly recommend booking with Cenote Xperience! I will be back... hopefully in less than 6 years this time :)

Carlos provided great support to us with adjusting weights, carrying tanks for the “old folks” in the group, and assuring everyone had a great time during our dives at Dos Oyos. The photographer took fantastic pictures available for purchase. Our friends who snorkeled through the caves thoroughly enjoyed their experience as well. We all highly recommend diving and snorkeling with the team at Cenote Experience!

I did 2 cenote dives with Martin in October 2021, the price was fair, they lent me equipment, picked me up from the ferry, and also took me to my hostel after. The dives were amazing and i really appreciate them accepting a credit card with no surcharge. Highly recommend!

Cenote Xperience provided a top notch extremely professional service, starting with the pickup, quick registration, transportation and of course the diving. My guide did everything to maximize safety, including carrying a spare tank, prepping me and staying close. The freshwater flooded caves are a must-see. Loved the pristine stalagtites and stalagmites illuminated by the flashlight in crystal clear waters filling the interconnected caves. Amazing!

We had the best time diving with Martin this week! We did both the direct boat to Cozumel (from Playa) and the Dos Ojos Cenote dives. These were our first dives after obtaining our certification and Martin made it so nice and easy. From the start with planning our dives by emailing with Nico, the whole experience was great.
The day of the dives, we were picked up from our hotel directly and all the equipment we didn’t bring on our trip with us was provided for a small fee. Martin did a great job of explaining the dives and providing a thorough briefing that put us at ease with our first dive being a drift dive. We saw lots of different sealife on our Cozumel dives and the cenote dives were amazing too—so peaceful and cool natural structures to look at. Sandwiches and snacks were provided between dives as well.
We can’t wait to come back and dive with Nico, Martin, and the team! Can’t recommend diving with them enough!

Hi Sarah, if you are not certified you can participate in a Discovery Scuba Diving, which will let you experience the wolrd of scuba diving under the direct supervision and guidance of a dive instructor.

Hola buenas tardes, con mucho gusto podemos organizar un bautismo de buceo, y si te gusta y sientes cómodo, hacer el curso de aguas abiertas.

Hi, I am a certified open water diver and would like to know if I will be able to dive in cenotes with my certification. Thanks!

Hello Fatima, sure you can dive the cenotes with your certification level. As Brinavet mentioned above, there are some cenotes limitations of depth and complexity of the dives. Some of the very cool cenote combinations you can do are Kukulcan/Chac Mool, Ponderosa/Tajmaha and Dos Ojos/Bat Cave.

Hi I am not certified to scuba diving. How much is it? Is there a weight limit? And do you need to know how to swim to scuba dive?
Helen B
Canberra, Australia104 contributions
I wouldn't recommend diving the cenotes unless you had some experience diving.
I have no doubt that places will let you do dive training without being able to swim. But reputable places will make you do a swim test first. When I did my test I had to be able swim/traverse 400m. I also had to be able tread water for 2 minutes with my hands in the air.
I don't believe there is a weight limit. And prices will vary from place to place.
I recommend that you do some research at your local dive shops. Many dive shops (including overseas places) will allow you to do the theory component on line and then the practical later on. Normally over a couple of days.
I hope this helps.
