It was my third time to dive in Playa del Carmen. First 2 times I dove with 2 other local dive shops and wasn’t impressed with the service. They were always on the go and always tried to get the dives done as quick as possible. So this time I decided to give Miki a shot since she mentioned she will provide a good service. I went there with a little concern since she doesn’t have a physical shop. Timing: Every morning I was picked up right at 8am as I was told. Had bad experience with some other local shops (the worst situation was some local dive guides from other shops being late for over 2 hours with some BS excuses). I was impressed immediately. Diving: I havent done much since the pandemic started (more than a year and half) plus I had her rental wetsuit and a new camera setup. I was anticipating some struggles at lease for the first couple dives. But Miki was very patient in the water by giving me enough time to adjust myself and not rushing to the next spot. not like the some other local guides, they just want to get the job done and get paid without really caring about if you enjoy the dives or not. She is so different. That’s all she cares!!!!! Diving with her is like diving with a friend to enjoy the dives and cenotes together rather than a dive guide you hire by paying them. She has all the knowledge you need to explore and really get to know those places plus she is an awesome diver as well. She also carries her save a dive kit to help me out with couple issues of my equipments (the screw on my backplate felling off underwater and my inflater hose leaking a little bit). Although those are not huge issues, but it did show me she cares about how much the customers can enjoy the dives. Service: She is Japanese. Is there anything need to be said here? She provided the best service in terms of details. She changed lunch menu every day. And she COOKED for me instead of buying a cheap sandwich everyday and calling it a day. Her food was delicious!!!!! Now she successfully raise the bar so high and she is gonna be the only guide i would hire when I go back. Others: Maybe some of you don’t care. But she always tries her best to protect the environment by not leaving any trash at the dive sites even tho there are “trash bins”. I can tell she doesn’t want any recycles being categorized as trash by the locals. Not that the locals are careless. But because of the environment they grew up in, they might not understand how important it is to protect the environment we live in. There are so many other details I couldn’t mention them all in the review. But trust me, if you are reading my review, you don’t need to research anymore. You already found the best guide in Playa del Carmen.

My local NYC dive shop recommended Miki at ScubaFreedom for cenote dives. My Dad and I booked 6 dives with ScubaFreedom, and at the end we were wanting more! Miki took care of everything and made our dives fun and interesting. After learning how many more cenotes there are to see.... I'm itching to come back to see more and would not go with any other guide!

Diving with Miki at ScubaFreedom was an amazing experience. Miki has a lifetime of knowledge with years of experience in the dive industry that she selflessly shares throughout your adventure with her. I have known Miki for some time and this is the first time I have had the opportunity to dive with her in Mexico. This was an amazing week of diving cenotes and experiencing all Playa del Carmen has to offer. Diving affords us the opportunity to travel to beautiful places and meet great people and this holds true with Scuba freedom. Sometimes, it even allows us to spend time with Dive professionals dedicated to make us better, safer, divers. I opted for private tours, which translated to incredible customer service and I got to dive and train in an unconstrained environment. Miki tailored sidemount refresher training and dive plans to meet my needs, skill level, and goals for the week. While the diving was amazing, what I enjoyed the most was the friendship and conversation, whether discussing dive planning, equipment configuration, or where to have dinner, this was a first class experience. I am already planning my return trip.

Wow, I can't imagine a better diving experience! After a dive trip with my dive shop, I wanted to go on my own to dive some cenotes; Miki came highly recommended. It's my first time in a cavern/cenote and she put me at such ease. She's so chill and laid-back but incredibly professional at the same time. She went through the different cave signals (since they're different from those used in the ocean), tested my buoyancy, weights, and swimming technique. I felt a lot more relaxed after that since I can get a little claustrophobic. Each of my three-dives started with a very thorough briefing of what to expect in the cenote. The day ended with a very delicious lunch! It was an awe-inspiring experience and Miki made it happen. I told my dive group and they were all very envious they didn't think of cenote diving. I already told them she's the one to dive with. There's absolutely no reason not to. Thanks Miki!
