Used this company to arange to play golf whilst on holiday in Playa Del Carmen. Contact via the website a week before leaving rhe UK. The whole booking process was so easy and the cheapest I could find for a decent course. Cheryl was very helpful with immediate responses to my emails. We couldn't of asked for a better experience. Collected from the hotel bang on time. Cheryl met us at the reception. The golf course was pristine. Lunch was included, gorgeous burgers., drinks on board the buggy in an ice box and any time we wanted anything we got it. We were able to use the golf range before play which we were not expecting either . All in all an amazing experience. Absolutely perfect from the booking to when we arrived back at the hotel. I would definitely use again. And just to add.... Absolutely no problem with clubs etc as other members have mentioned.. we took photos of our clubs as soon as we received them but we clearly needn't have done as there was no discrepancies at all.

Very accommodating and friendly. The weather didn't cooperate on our booked day to snorkel and they kept in contact until we found a day that worked. Alex was great. His assistants (sorry, can't recall names) were wonderful, especially helping two senior citizens snorkel on a wavy day. Lunch was delicious at the local restaurant in Puerto Morelos which they set up for our group of 12. Photo DVD was a fun souvenir of trip. Thanks!

Dear Tigerfamily, I am so glad to hear everything worked out for your group considering the weather that. week. We try very hard to make our tours the best we can, but mother nature doesn't work for me and does as she pleases. Luckily, we could reschedule and everyone was happy. It is always nice to hear Alex is doing a great job and his assistants are Mario and Coco who also do a great job. Thank you so much for taking the time to support us and write such a nice review. Sincerely. Graham

We have been visiting Playa del Carmen for the past 10 years every winter. For the first 5 years we tried various tours we though would be interesting or fun, but each time we felt we had been ripped off (Sian Kaan) or worse...thought we would be stranded or worse (Holbox Island). After the last tour we gave up, it was safer to stay in town and keep your money in your own wallet. This changed this year, because we had a guest visiting that really wanted a tour. After reading review after review I decided on the Snorkel Shop. The reviews were consistent, the value seemed appropriate and they offered nice snorkeling tours and combo tours. We walked over to the shop and spoke to the owner and we then booked. I have to say we were picked up promptly in a working van, and the tour guide Alex is great! We spent the morning snorkeling at a beautiful reef, they took all the pictures and lunch on the beach was exceptional! After lunch we went to a cenote - which was breathtaking. I cant say enough about this company and their employees. I cant imagine even considering booking with another company. We are probably going to book another tour before we leave. I highly recommend :)

We did the surf and turf package which included morning on the reef off from a lovely beach just north of Playa del carmen, lunch at a restaurant on the same beach, and then an afternoon trip to snorkel in the ceynote.
Pros: wonderful variety of fish (similar to what I saw in St. John last year) and good condition of the reef, you get a CD with pictures at the end for no extra charge; the lunch was also good and in a wonderful setting at a beachside restaurant
Cons: the first reef we visited had shallow water where it was difficult not to bump into the reef and I worry about the ultimate health of the reef if that continues, I also would have liked not to have been kept in such a tight cluster when snorkeling. Inevitably I was either being bumped into by another in our party or following someones air bubles from their fins. I'm used to snorkeling trips with a little less "coordination" by the guide

My wife and I found The Snorkel Shop through tripadvisor after not getting consistent information from the many different street vendors wanting to sell us a tour. We walked to the Snorkel Shop on Calle 28 and spoke with a young lady there who took our reservation for the surf and turf adventure (6 hours). She advised us they do not resell the tour and that we would stay with them from booking to the end. The process was quick and easy. On the scheduled day Alex picked us up right on time at our condo and off we went to Puerto Morelos, just the two of us. We did two snorkel trips there and then had a fantastic lunch right on the beach. The reef is one of the best I have ever seen. Then off to the Cenote we went. I was not expecting too much here as I have been in caverns before. I cannot find the words to describe what happened next. Down into the caves we went after getting fitted with hard hats, life vests, snorkel and mask. After waking a short distance we entered the crystal clear water and swan throughout the cavern with flashlights. This was a bucket list event. I'll stop there and let you see it for yourself. At the end we received a CD with beautiful pictures that Alex took during the trip. I usually never write reviews, I'm 72, but I couldn't wait to post this. Thanks again Alex, the owners and to the others who helped make this a day to remember.

Dear Glenn C, I am so glad you enjoyed our tour and thank you for going the extra mile to write about us on TA. Every now and then, we only have two people on our tour, we only take ten people maximum ( unless it is one group), but on occasion we only have two booked for that day. I am so glad you enjoyed the cenote ( cave snorkel), it is a bucket list activity. The reef is quite beautiful and I am glad you enjoyed it along with the lunch as well. We all hope to see you again and thank you for your support. Sincerely Graham

My fiancé and I, along with my brother and sister-in-law booked with the Snorkel Shop. We were picked up at our resort and went straight to the ocean! We had an amazing experience and our guides knew everything. We saw so many fish and the best part was a sea turtle! We then had lunch by the ocean, packed up and we were back at our resort. It was a wonderful experience. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED!

My husband and I contacted The Snorkel Shop in advance for a half-day cenote snorkel. Sofia was helpful and personable with advance information, scheduling and payment. Our prescheduled pickup was timely, and we found our guide, Eddie, extraordinarily professional, friendly and easy to talk to, and highly knowledgable about the cenote we were scheduled to snorkel and the area's available snorkeling and scuba generally.

Their website notes that this shop tries hard to maintain small group sizes, six people or less (though they accept larger groups on request), and we found this to be true on our excursion. Four of us snorkeled the cenote, and the other two continued to the ocean reef without us. We found that the small group was especially helpful (and perhaps necessary) in the fragile environment of the cenote - and as we exited, we saw a large, noisy party entering, and were glad not to be among them.

On a personal note, during our snorkel of the cenote, my mask became excessively fogged - the first time in several uses (all in much warmer water) that this had happened. Eddie discussed why this had occurred (the lower water temperature in the cenote combined with the factory plastic coating on the interior of the glass) and recommended remedies for the future, and then graciously insisted on swapping masks with me, taking my foggy one and giving me his own well-tempered piece. Please note that the problem was of my own making, since I brought my own mask and snorkel, and that no-one who used the gear provided by the company had similar issues.

My husband and I are happy to give this establishment a five-star "excellent" rating. The value of professional service for money spent is not to be equalled in the Playa area. We are also pleased to note that, once your excursion is paid for, no attempt is made (as it is at so many other "attractions" in the area) to sell you anything beyond what you requested.

We were entirely delighted with our trip with The Snorkel Shop and plan to book with them again when we return (with our teenage son) in August.

Dear scaryblondechick, Thank you for your very detailed review. I truly appreciate all the kind things you had to say about your experience. We do not try to add on extras. We have tried hard to provide everything you will need.(except towels, bathing suits and Biodegradable sunscreen). as you pointed out, once you go with us we take care of everything. Once again, thank you. Sincerely, Graham P.S. Love your TA handle.

We were given the Tortugas and cenote tour as a gift for our honeymoon and we loved it! We don't usually book tours as we don't like being stuck with large groups on a set time frame, However this tour was amazing!! Alex our tour guide was extremely friendly and professional, we were lucky as we were the only two booked that day. I am sure it would be just as good with a larger group.

The sea turtles were great, we saw about 12. Alex is very passionate about the Eco system and preservation which is great to see.

Next we had a delicious lunch at a local restaurant, I am a fussy eater so I was thrilled with this choice (beats a sandwich and fizzy drink that you get with other tours).

Next we went to Chaak Tun (Cenote) and had the place to ourselves, it was unbelievable. It was our favourite day of the trip, largely because Alex was fantastic!

Thanks again! Highly recommended, when we come back to playa we will book a different tour with the snorkel shop with hopefully Alex as our guide.

Dear Brodie998, " A perfect day"! What great praise! Thank you very much for your kind words. The Sea Turtles are amazing. Also, I am so glad you enjoyed your lunch. I agree it beats sandwiches and fizzy drinks. We really try to make the whole experience the best we can. The cenote is always a favorite and Alex is always on top of his game. Thank you for taking the time to recomend us on TA. Sincerely, Graham,

Everyone from the Snorkel Shop went above and beyond to ensure that our 12-person family snorkeling outing was a memory to last a lifetime.

We booked the Snorkel Shop for a snorkeling trip to the Puerto Morelos reef for a group of 12 on Dec 23. The weather on the day of our original scheduled tour was windy, the seas were rough, and there was a high likelihood that the snorkeling wouldn't be optimal. We spoke with the owner Graham first thing in the morning who immediately agreed and worked with us to reschedule for two days later (Christmas day) which happened to fit our schedule well. He also said if it didn't work out that day, we would get a full refund. Fortunately it worked out great.

Christmas day weather was great. Alex our guide picked us up promptly at our resort and drove us to Puerto Morelos. Alex was informative and talkative and made us feel very comfortable prior to snorkeling. The tour itself was great. Saw many fish and great coral formations during our two stops along the reef to snorkel as a group.

Alex and his boat captains (we had two small skiffs take us to the reef) went out of the way to make sure everyone in our party had a great experience, even Grandma and Grandpa that weren't as 'agile' and not as comfortable with all the snorkel gear on. Alex's team got in the water with our family and allowed the 'not as young' to hang onto a floatation device as they were pulled along to enjoy some snorkeling. The Snorkel Shop team went out of their way to make sure EVERYNOE in our group got the best experience possible.

We ended with a nice lunch along the beach (included) and at the end of the trip Alex made us a CD with over 125 pictures from our excursion (also included).

If you are looking for a safe, well run, thoughtful tour operator to help make your vacation memorable. Absolutely consider The Snorkel Shop! Thank you Alex, Graham and team. Merry Christmas!

Dear Saratogoakid, I am so glad to here all worked out well for you. Normally, we do not work on Christmas day, however Alex and the rest of the crew all volunteered to complete your tour with us. That is what a great team I have. I am also pleased to hear the not so "agile" were pleased too. We always have two guides to give maximum service. On behalf of Alex and the rest of the gang, I would like to thank you for taking the time to review us on TA. We hope to see you next time. Sincerely, Graham

I booked the Gran Arrecife Maya tour online several months before our trip, with great help from Sophia. The day of the tour, Alex came to pick up our family of 6 from our resort but informed us the port at Puerto Morelos was closed due to weather, then had me talk to Graham about some different options we could do instead. Graham was great to work with and we decided to snorkel at an inlet in Akumal then explore a cenote. Alex was a great guide the entire tour, and he was super with our four teenage boys who had never snorkeled. The inlet and cenote were both wonderful experiences, as well as the lunch Alex took us to for authentic seafood tacos. He also gave us a CD with over 100 great pictures from our trip. I cannot say enough good things about Graham, Alex, the food, the pictures, and the whole experience. We will definitely book with The Snorkel Shop again, as well as recommend it to all our friends! Thanks for a super time!!

Dear Elpeters, Thank you so much for your review. I am so glad you enjoyed your day with us. It was unfortunate we had to change plans, but you had a great time anyway. I am so glad Alex did a great job and that you enjoyed the cenote as well. Tank you once again for your support and we look forward to taking you to the reef next time. Sincerely, Graham
