Our group of 4 arrived to the ranch by taxi. Mario was a great guide. We drove our single atv’s through jungle roads. And by foot we walked down to a beautiful cenote that took about 5 mins. We did the morning tour and were told the sun hits the cenote beautifully at that time. Reasonably priced and all in all a great time.

We book a private tour. It we were slightly worried about Covid, but the guys germicided everything. Felt super comfortable and safe as far as Covid goes. We rode on the street to the entrance of jungle. We followed the guide and had a blast!! We went fast...sooo fun!! The first part is in an old road that hasn’t been repaired in quite some time. The we got to the Cenotes in the middle of no where. Went down into them and swam in the cold water! So beautiful and peaceful. Loved every minute. Then we hopped back in the ATVs and went on smaller trails...even more fun!!

Mario was a great guide and was very thorough in explaining the ATV. Got to ride through the streets of PDC for about 10 or so minutes til we got to the jungle trails!! We have been on many ATV excursions and this was one of our favorites. We got to ride through off road trails and see the beautiful jungle and he took many pictures of us while riding which was a delight to have pictures to remember the trip! The Cenote was very interesting with stalagmites and stalactites as well!! Then back through the jungle to where we started...whole tour was about two hours!!! Highly recommend this tour and company:)

We did the ATV and cave adventure with a group of 13 (10 adults and 3 kids ages 7, 9, and 10) and it was the highlight of the trip for me. The guides were so helpful and accommodating with our kids. They worked with all levels of experience/comfort on the ATV's and the cenote/cave adventure was just amazing. I definitely recommend this company for this type of trip.

When I was a kid, I loved playing outdoors and having fun. With the warm sun on my face and not a care in the world…it was all about the laughter and freedom.

So as an adult, I am always my happiest when I can play outside, laugh and have fun. And that’s exactly the experience we had when my husband and I went on an ATV (All Terrain Vehicle) tour with Wheelie Trails ATV Jungle Adventure in Playa del Carmen, Mexico. In fact, before we could even finish our tour, we were already making plans to go again. But this time, forget about sharing and taking turns driving, we each want to drive our own ATV.

While doing our research, we found that so many companies do combination tours with cenotes, snorkeling, biking, swimming, etc. We did not want to pay for those other activities just to ATV, so we kept looking on Trip Advisor until we found ATV Jungle Adventures. And although they offer those other activities as well, you can book an ATV only tour.

We booked our two-hour tour through their website, confirmed our pricing, and waited for the fun. On our tour day, we met our guide at the appointed location, completed and signed our liability forms, and paid for our tour. After we finished the administrative business, it was time to get down to the nitty-gritty.

Our guide provided very detailed instructions on how to appropriately operator the ATV. He then proceeded to explain what the tour involved in terms of driving to and from the off-road tour location. Let me stop here to let you know right now that you will be driving your ATV on Highway 307 and other city streets until you reach the off-road tour location. So, if you have any concerns about that, you probably should not go on this tour.

The guide further explained the need for safety, including hand signals he would be using to guide us through a safe and fun experience. He offered cold bottled water, bandanas to protect our faces (we had already purchased our own in advance, so we used ours), helmets and a place to store our belongings. Now about that…don’t bring a bunch of stuff with you thinking there is a place to put it while you tour. The guide has a small storage type box on the front of his ATV (see photo) where he recommends you put your purse, jacket, or other very small items. I would recommend that you bring a plastic garbage bag with you to place your items in before you put them in the storage box. Trust me, there is so much dirt and grim (part of the fun) flying everywhere, that plastic bag will help protect your belongings.

So now it was time to go! My husband and I shared the ATV and took turns driving it. After we maneuvered the Playa del Carmen city streets, we hit the trails flying (well, maybe not flying, but we pressed just a little harder on the throttle…smile). Up and down, and all around…we were both laughing and grinning from ear to ear and really having fun, fun, fun!!! In fact, if we didn’t have our bandanas on, we would have had a mouth full of dirt and grime (remember mud pies…smile). Talk about a blast…we grinned and laughed so hard that our cheeks hurt the next day.

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION THAT YOU MAY FIND HELPFUL:
1. Bring and wear your sun glasses. They will protect your eyes from all the dirt,
grime and debris.
2. Bring your own bandana or use theirs. It will protect you from eating dirt.
3. Bring a plastic garbage bag to put your purse, hat or other small items in the
storage box that is located on the tour guide’s ATV.
4. Ladies (or gentlemen) if you are wearing long earrings that day, I would
recommend removing them until after the tour (just a precaution).
5. Wear casual clothes. Something you don’t mind getting dirty, is a must. We wore
shorts, but the next time I go, I will be wearing long pants. My rationale for longer
pants is because I felt a heat sensation on my left leg next to the exhaust cover.
Maybe it won’t be so noticeable with longer pants.
6. You can take your own photos before and after with your ATV, but the guide will
take photos of you on the actual trails/tour and email them to you. There is no
additional cost for this service.
7. The guide did introduce himself and gave us his name. At the end of the tour we
asked him to spell it for us so that we may include it in our review. He said he
would email it when he sent the photos. We got the photos, but he forgot to
include his name.
8. As you are walking down the street toward the Ferry dock, it is located across
from Café Antoinette Bakery, through an alley that is behind Senor Frogs. It is
toward the back, on the right-side of the small business plaza (see photos). Look
for the ATV sign and the ATVs.

GO, have fun, and get a little dirty!!! It’s like a playground for
grown-ups!!! Enjoy our photos.

We had an amazing afternoon out on this trip. Booking was effortless and Yair ( he also was the guide on the excursion) told us everything we needed to know before booking, there was no hard sell and genuine prices offered. If you are looking for something different and fun to do, this is it. They are based on the site of the Riu Tequila Hotel ( which is where we were staying) so no bus is required your start your journey right from the hotel which is a definite bonus.
Yair explains everything about the ATV bike to you before setting off, and provides all the safety equipment needed. Definitely feel in really safe hands. You get to drive on the open road to the jungle, where you drive through puddles and get a bit wet which again is great and all adds to the fun. We took the optional cave trip and this was brilliant. Yair is so knowledgable and because we were a small group basically like having the cave to ourselves. There is a fantastic natural cave pool that we all swam in at the end, Yair took lots of pictures which he emailed free of charge to us.
From the cave you have more jungle driving and this was defilntely the most fun for me!
We all loved this trip and can recommend it enough! We will definitely be doing it again when we return next year ( Maybe even Grandad will be doing it again watch out Yair!)
For me its about supporting the local businesses there, Thomson make more than enough money so this is important to me.
Thanks again.

We did the ATV – Cenote tour and it was probably the highlight of the trip. It is a long drive there and takes you on a gravel road for a number of miles to get to their base. They were organized and got us going quickly on the ATV’s

The ATV tour was fast and through some jungle paths. They arranged so the faster crowds were in the front and some that preferred a little slower were in the back. Good long ride on the ATV’s with some solid speed. The butterflies everywhere along the ride added a nice touch.

Next we went into the Cenote and it was probably better than any of the others we have been in. They took you through multiple rooms and let you swim around wile taking very professional photos. I believe it was Frida that took us through and she was excellent. Very knowledgeable, personable and kept everyone entertained

Others that took care of us on the ATV tours included – Bohish, Giovanni, Enrico, Simone and Jessy

We went expecting to ride ATVS through the jungle and maybe swim in a cenote. What we got was a great time on the ATVS AND a stroll through Cenote SAC Pool walking but at times having the water level,up to our chests. Our guide, Giovanni is well versed in this cenote and gave us some great info on it and the ancient Mayans! It is an interesting tour with running through the jungle on ATVS while also learning some facts about these cenotes. Well worth your time and money to take a look,

The ATV jungle explorer was kind of misleading. The website makes it out to be an off-road adventure through the jungle. There are multiple pictures of off-road water crossings and mud shots. The reality is you drive for about 30 minutes (15 each way) in the city. Then you go "off road" onto a packed clay road. You share the road with tour busses and vans. The majority of the tour is going down these roads. You then come to a ranch, where you rest for 15-20 minutes. Here you can see one of the cenotes. After this you get your 10 minutes of jungle exploring. At this point, you go through an actual off-road trail between the trees. At the end of this trail, there is a mud spot, where when taking a picture at the right angle, looks super cool. In reality, its just a small mudspot. At the end of the tour, they took us through the city and to a women's prison, before reaching a dead end, only to have a guard tell us to leave the area and go back through the prison to the area we just came out of, before we went back to the tour ending. I found this very weird and borderline sketchy.

The tour is right for you if you're just looking to drive an ATV and don't care about the off-roading. It would be great for families. However, beware that the "double" ATVs are actually singles where you squeeze two people. I have done other ATV tours where the doubles have two seats, unlike this one. The tour guide was good. The tours are private which is a plus.

Hi Jason, thanks for riding with us and we appreciate your honest review! We are very sorry to hear that your experience didn't meet your expectations and we'll review our content and make sure it is accurate as our tours are indeed meant to be a safe and fun ride on varying types of paths and roads. The amount of puddles and mud you will encounter depends on the weather conditions and rain on a given day as there are no rivers on the Yucatan Peninsula. I do like to point out that at no point the tour passes by a women's prison. Your comments are very valuable and we will continue to work on improving our offer. Thanks again for riding with us and please feel free to reach out to wt@atvjungletours.com if we can be of any further assistance.

Our family truly enjoyed this adventure. ATV riding was really fun. The cenote was incredible. Frida was our tour guide in the cave and she was wonderful. I learned quite a few things about the Mayan culture while exploring the cenote. Frida was very knowledgeable and passionate about the history that involves the cenote. I would highly recommend this adventure, next time we booking a two hour cenote excursion.
