This church is locked up a good percentage of the time, but it is worth a look, being almost 500 years old.

Really pretty church with more interesting and pretty religious artifacts and decor. I lit a candle for my late daughter.

Would highly recommend to go downtown and visit this church and all of the historical society in Merida. It's a beautiful city with friendly people.

What a beautiful Cathedral and location. The park is gorgeous with events happening every night. A great place to people watch and mingle with the locals and their families. Children playing everywhere without a care in the world. So different from the USA. This is Old Mexico at it's Best

The church is beautiful and just the right size to host our daughter's wedding last month. The Pastor is a wonderfully warm man. The music was heavenly during the wedding mass, and the vocalist had an angelic voice. I shed a few tears of joy at this traditional Mexican wedding.

A pretty cousin of the larger, fortress like, Cathedral church. This smaller church is situated between Parque Hidalgo and Parque de la madre, in probably the most picturesque setting of Merida. It is far less crowded than the cathedral, and far smaller as well. A simple one nave edifice built on a plan of a cross. LIke its larger cousin it was built with the stones taken from a dismantled Mayan Pyramid. Worth a quick stop if youre in the neighborhood, and you will be...

Beautiful church, over 500 years old, well worth walking through. During the holidays they have a beautiful nativity scene. Conveniently located at the zocalo.

You don't have to love old churches to be impressed by several in downtown Merida. This cathedral had lovely details and the altar was most impressive. We loved coming in before early mass and breakfast. It just had a feel to it that spoke of such history, if only knowing it was the 400th anniversary of this church. Outside we were greeted by quite a few red/green parrots putting on an amazing show of presence. They were quite loud and provided us with great pictures.
