The big event in this building are the historical murals on the second floor. There is a placque explaining each. There is good security here as well as nice bathrooms.

Nice colonial building with a simplle light-show after dawn. It's right oposite the cathedral wich gives the whole plaza a beautiful impression.

This place is highly recommended. Not only does the building has the authentic look, but outside they have the dancing in the streets, Old traditional dancers and singers make this place a great atmosphere.

The building is open all day and into the evening to wander the second floor of the government building. Art representing the Mayan struggles under Spanish colonialism.

The municipal building is worth a visit and it is free. The second floor has a number of paintings depicting the Mexican revolution and is worth a look. It is part of the main plaza of Merida

I was not impressed by the artwork in the Palacio Municipal. It seemed to be political, celebrating the Mexican Revolution with disturbing images. However, there is a free baño inside.

Easy to find off the main square - although the security guards looked intimidating - a quick smile and hello and you are in. Up into the second floor via a sweeping central stair case off the open courtyard there is a great vista over...More
