Unfortunately this tour was a bit of a disaster! We arrived at the pinpoint location (hotel Piazzetta) at 8:40am as requested and waited outside the hotel. We have proof of this due to the Uber receipt and the word from the hotel owner who agreed to give us a statement (written if required). we had no contact with Urban adventures until 9:15 when they sent us an email (we had to pay for the internet to receive this) telling us they had looked for us and we had missed the tour. By this point we had called the company many times (a screen copy of the phone calls has been sent to Urban adventures) and received no answer, nor had they tried to call us. eventually i got a text asking us to call the office and i texted back saying i had tried but no answer and could they call us, at which point they just ignored us. I sent several emails and sent them screen shots of the uber receipt and offering the hotel owners statement. still no word and then we received a refund. I am pleased they agreed to the refund but frankly urban adventures merida need to work on their communication when they realised they were in the wrong they just stopped talking to us! Regarding the tour i have no doubt is a wonderful day. After this disaster we decided to make our own way to Cuzama and do the tour ourselves. Merida to Cuzama public transport 25pesos each person trip on a motobike tuktuk 30 pesos (per bike can fit 4 people on it) entrance and horse and cart ride 400peso per horse and cart trip on a motobike tuktuk 30 pesos (per bike can fit 4 people on it) Cuzama to Merida public transport 25pesos each person total for 2 people 560 pesos not including lunch. The buses are easy to navigate and air conditioned so its really a no brainer. the only thing to remember is the motorbike driver will try to take you to different cenotes, stick to your guns and ensure you look out for the huts on the right hand side, if they do go past and you end up in the wrong place just stay on the bike and refuse to move till they take you back, generally they are very amenable and they will just grin and agree with you. It really is a fabulous day and well worth the trek on a public bus (which is the same bus the tour company uses anyway.)

We did the tour today. It was so much fun and our guide Gustavo was one of the best guides I ever had. Luckily we were only three people and Gustavo. Gustavo told us so much about Mayan history and today’s life in the Yucatan area! The three cenotes were unique in their own ways and I enjoyed each one of the so much. The trip to the cenotes on local transportation and the “Tuktuks” was an adventure on its own. The lunch at the end of the trip at the local family’s house was so yummy! Thank you so much Gustavo!

This was the best! Such a great tour. Gustavo was very knowledgeable. The market was fascinating and would have been impossible without him. Cooking together was amazing and so much fun. Eating was great too!

Exceeded expectations. Had an amazing guide that went above and beyond! The cenotes were family run and beautiful. Had lunch in the home of locals which was by far the best meal on our trip! Loved this tour!

Please read to the end! If you are looking for a working class Mexican experience this is great. You’ll walk through the historical center to a bustling market full of wonderful sites and sounds learning about the heritage of various spices and foods of the Yucatan. Our guide Gustavo was fantastic, sharing his passion for his Yucatecan and Mayan heritage, history and cuisine. Then you’ll take a bus to his Abuela and Tia’s home where you sit around the kitchen table chopping, learning and chatting. We had a really nice group. Gustavo is super accommodating, he even ran out to buy a few six packs of beer! I highly recommend this tour to learn some cool recipes and cooking tips.
