About
Independent Mexidesign handmade T-shirts. Mérida's original, one-of-a-kind screen-printed and hand-made appliqué street fashion shop. Tejon Rojo founder Annie Farias conceived her quirky méxicana boutique theme in 2012 after stints in design schools in México & Spain. Starting with screen and sublimation-printed original t-shirts, Tejon Rojo expanded into all kinds of hand-stitched streetwear featuring various cultural memes & icons. The ubiquitous Frida and traditional 'sugar-skulls' are fan favorites.

Funky store around the corner from Parque de Santa Lucía. Lots of cool Lucha libre items, funky cool stuff. All local, no imported Chinese crap. Nice to see a place like this in Merida.

Clothing is very high quality and very unique. One of a kind pieces by a very talented artist. Annie is a very friendly and highly creative artist. I can't wait to return to Merida in December and see what's new in the shop to bring home!

Annie was very friendly the minute we walked in. TE JON ROJO has some really great shirts. We bought two from her. It was so cool to see her wrap up the shirts individually with repurposed paper with her logo on it and then use one of her stickers of her TeJon Rojo to seal it. That is just how creative Annie is. Annie thank you for throwing in the canvas bag. We thoroughly loved your shop. Come open a shop in Houston and visit us. Hope to see you the next time we are in Merida.

I was looking through my lonely planet guide at shops to visit and I saw this and thought I should check it out.
It was maybe 8-9 minute walk from the main plaza (I was using Google maps haha).
The shop has a wonderful selection of unique t-shirt designs And other crafty goods.
I bought a dress/long t-shirt. Not sure but I loved it and couldn't leave without it. I wanted more things but my back pack would not be able to fit anything else on it unfortunately :(
The girl in the shop was nice and chatty too. My Spanish is...well non existent and she put up with me haha.
I want to try and visit again with my friend before I leave the Yucatan area so she can find this hidden gem of a store.

We were looking out for some Mexican design stuff and strolled around Merida. By chance we found Tejon Rojo and were absolutely astonished. Small store, but great items - especially the shirts. Definitely worth a trip and spending some time there. GREAT!

I popped in one evening and, in addition to a wonderful selection of Ani's great T-shirts and other wearables, I also had the pleasure of meeting Ani! She's the skilled artist and seamstress who made them all. Very delightful. She works out back doing her artistry, and she's friendly and helpful and never pushy in helping you find something you like. Her cute little shop (and she's cute, too) is just off 60th Ave. and just a few blocks north of Plaza Grande and a block away from Plaza de Santa Lucia. A perfect example of the flowering of artistic shops in this fun, fun neighborhood. A fun stop before or after lunching or dining at Apoala, my favorite restaurant.

Came accross this Mexican clothing store by luck, but was really amazed by the originality and colorful inspiration of their different clothes!
Just bought a t-shirt since I was in a hurry, but can't wait to get back to see their brand new collection! :)

I loved meeting the workers there, bought a few very nice pieces of jewelry made by entreprenurial artisans, I visted often. They and their artisans are so creative. I wish them much success and that many more shoppers discover them. Mine was business visit and I was solo. I was there infall 2013 but it feels like yesterday. They do not have the right year to clikc on so I have to use their loist...three years later!

This relatively tiny boutique (just two rooms) is a treasure trove of one-of-a-kind wearable pop art, with plenty of must-have T-shirt designs and assorted tchotchkes, not to mention mugs and all you might need for your Day of the Dead celebration. There's even an ideal Instagram spot in a side room used for exhibitions and performances where a visitor can place him/herself inside the Virgin of Guadalupe's heavenly rays. Cool, baby!
