Small city on Yucatán known well for mangroves and flamingos. You can buy a riverboat trip on Rio Celestún to observe the flamingos and other birds nesting along the river. Also you can swim in the sea on almost empty beaches.

Beautiful beach, great restaurants, friendly people and tours to see 500-5000 flamingos. I first came here 18 years ago with my daughter and now finally returning with my grandsons.

We took a boat tour through the mangroves at Celestun and liked the place, the vast arms of the laguna, the many different birds, fish and plants were really worth the visit.

A real Mexican town. Motobicis abound, one can eat a great fish dinner in a palapa on the sand, and if you get up early you can see thousands of flamingos. The beach is great with clear calm water, with a few waves in the...More

What I like about it is getting out of the city, we went to the beach and had a excellent meal at the Poseidon.

Our hosts arranged a full day of birding with David Bacab. He was highly recommended on the web (various reviews) but he turned out to be not-so-great after all. He turned up late without apology. Then, he mostly ignored us and spoke, in Spanish, with...More
