I was thinking of renting through a broker (Colleen) bc a 6 seater was only $95/day…a steal compared to the other options. But, then I saw the reviews and couldn’t stop with the whole…you get what you pay for concept. Our house had a concierge and she works with 2 cart companies. They were more expensive and their reviews were just as bad. Our concierge said, “all the carts are pretty much the same, it’s the service when there is in issue that matters most.” So, we said that if that’s true we might as well go with the cheap one!!! And we did. Prisma is a short walk from the ferry which we easily managed with 2 large and 1 small suitcases. They couldn’t find my reservation but quickly had it all sorted out. We were charged the quoted amount, and there were no surprise charges. The guy at the counter wasn’t the most outgoing but he wasn’t rude either. He did his job and that’s good enough. You do have to leave your DL with them which they give back when you return the cart. You pay in USD. They tell you that you can come back every 2 days and they’ll fill up your gas. The cart…was it fancy…no…did it work…yes. We just needed to get around in a working cart and we had no issues with ours. We did notice one headlight out but weren’t driving it at night anyway so we didn’t take it in to be fixed. We went back for gas once and the guy that helped us was so nice and friendly!!!! We did pay attention to other carts around town and mostly they did all look the same as ours. The Ciro’s carts did look nicer than most but they also cost almost double. Not worth it to us. We rented a big 6 seater for $105usd/day (Ciros quoted us 3000peso/day for the same size cart!). We reserved a cart back in November, picked up our cart in March with no issues and they had our reservation on file. Paid in USD and off we went. The cart wasnt fancy but it ran well, steered well and got us around the island. We had no troubles with it at all and swinging by their shop to get gas during our weekly rental was easy. Prisma was going to refund us but with Covid and being we’re Canadian they were struggling. We told them keep it and someday we’ll be back. Our day to go back to the island for a visit happened last week. I sent them an email and asked if we could get a cart for the couple of days that we were there. They said absolutely! The man at the front desk wasn’t the friendliest but after he checked with the owner he gave us a very nice cart. I booked my cart online a week prior to our arrival and am so glad I did. The day we picked up our cart, they had none left that hadn't already been reserved and paid for. Our golf cart had no mechanical issues and after speaking to other guests at our resort, and who rented directly from the resort, we learned that we paid far less than they did, and almost all of their carts had mechanical issues. The place reached out to me via text where I was able to communicate when we arrived on the island and the cart was waiting for us when we got there. People working there were friendly and helpful. I reserved a golf cart with Prisma at about 9 am on May 8th 2021 for pickup at 12:30 pm on the same day. I paid $53 in advance via Paypal for "24 hours" though only wanted it until about 7 pm when the last Ferry to Playa Tortuga left. We arrived at Prisma at 12:30 pm on the dot and they had no record of my reservation. I showed them the email confirmation. Their excuse was that people ordnarily book and pay via Paypal several days in advance and there had not been enough time for them to receive payment info from Paypal which is obviously total BS as emails are instant. They made us sweat and wait in their crappy little unairconditioned office for about 20 minutes before the surly and rude manager produced an ancient and very beat up cart. Of course, we took it and tried to make the best of our day. It was spectacularly underpowered but we were OK with that. After we left, we noticed there was no rear view mirror and the parking brake did not work. So we went back to exchange it for a working cart. You can imagine the grief they gave us. We finally got another cart that had a mirror but it's parking brake did not work either. Apparently this is standard for Prisma. If anything, the new cart was more underpowered than the first one. But we have up and just dealt with it. Also the "24 hour" rental period is BS because the shop closed at 6 pm and we had to return the cart by then in order to get my driver's license back which they held hostage. There is not a single positive thing I can say about this company. Avoid them at all costs and rent from anybody else.

Not a great experience. We rented the day before and when we showed up they did not have the rental. They said you needed to reserve 3 days in advance and I can not find anywhere on the website where it says that. Was told the owner lives in Georgia and it takes time to get the rental info. When they did give us a cart it would not stay in gear or sometimes not even move. We brought the cart back and changed it. Not that golf carts are supposed to be fast BUT would like to at least keep up with traffic. The Cart Frame was shot. I was a 4-person cart and when I sat on the back seat it felt loose. The time we hit the first speed bump (very slowly) the seat broke in and was sitting on the motor. had to stop several times to reseat. The roof was mounted to a frame that was broken and felt like it would fall off if you touched it. All we could do now was laugh at it and when we were at the first stop we noticed the frame was badly bent. Also the parking brake would not hold.

Met a rep on Rueda Medina named Jesus and we worked out a deal for a certain golf cart that had good steering, tires and alignment for the next morning at 9 AM. He was a no show and all the people knew him but none could contact him. We waited for almost an hour before walking to their office closer to ferry. The guy inside said no such deal and pulled out the worst looking golf cart I have ever seen for 200 pesos more that the agreed price. They tried to push us into taking it saying it was on of the last available on the island. Yeah, Right! Needless to say we left without a golf cart and were thankful because if we had any trouble with cart, who knows what scam was next up. Avoid at all costs, very shady!

Well after several years of choosing Prisma I feel like they have abandoned their loyal customer base. We had 3 reservations with confirmation numbers booked 6 months in advance. When we arrived they acted like we were bothering them. It did not matter that we had reservations. There are 7 people in our group in their 70s. Shame on you Rene and your staff. You are heartless leaving us on our own. We ended up with one regular cart after haggling with them and told we could return after 1 o’clock they might have 2 more regular carts. We reserved 2 large and 1 small. We returned that afternoon for the lock they were supposed to provide and there were 2 large carts in front. We exchanged our s for one of the large and we’re informed we should be charged for both of them! Imagine the nerve! We are always patient when we travel but Prisma and their staff have achieved a level of customer service shameful to none other. We regret that we must end our longtime relationship with you. I hope you take notice and save your business.

I booked the large golf cart for the full day with the purpose of having my kids ride facing forward, instead of facing the street behind us. I had pre-paid and had a confirmation of reservation of this type of golf cart. When we arrived, the guy at the desk said he didn't have a large cart, and that I shouldn't have booked online - the prices were higher inside the location than online. After some back and forth, and my kids (3 and 6) sweating and tired, I asked what the solution would be. He repeated the same back to me. Throughout this whole encounter, several of the employees were saying "hey we have one in the back" or "should I get the one from the back" he kept waving them away. Mind you, I speak fluent Spanish, and am vigilant of everything going on. I bring that up, and after a long time, a large golf cart magically appears. This was after I was outside telling a tourist to be careful of their scams. We get on with the ride, and then the cart breaks down. I call and they say they are sending someone right away. We might have been 5 minutes up the road, but it took them half an hour to come replace the cart, with, magically, another large golf cart. Stay away from these folks. There are several other vendors. Stay away from Prisma.

I booked two 4-person carts 2 months in advance with Prisma for 6 days. When we showed up, they had no carts left and had oversold all the carts to the day touristers. We were left high and dry with no other cart companies in the area that could give us 2 for that long. Luckily, the next day another cart company saved us but would NOT recommend Prisma.
They only refunded us by us having to come back the next day to verify they had none left again. The timely refund is the only reason i'm giving them 2 stars instead of 1.

We had an adventure within an adventure. Our first cart we named Jalapeño but it was not very hot. It started off good but with 24 hours we could not make it up hills and had to push the cart manually. Then at 10:00 am the transmission went half way to downtown and we were stranded for over an hour. We booked a snorting tour so we’re in jeopardy of missing this. Thankfully a local resident called the Prism (prison) office for us and they picked us up and drive us to the north end of the island to make our trip. We were assured that a l other cart would be ready at 4:30 for us but it was not and we had to hang out till 6:30. Then we got a second cart but had to return the next day at 12:00 to exchange it. As we were staying at the far south of the island we made the drive back to be told we could keep the cart we had which we named piñata. Piñata had one headlight and the. Parking brake did work very well and we made sure to park on flat ground or where the wheels could be pushed against the curb. The kicker came when we found out the hard was it was not filled and had to lour gas into the cart. It was an adventure for sure and learned a valuable lesson to prebook with a more reputable company. Aah the memories…

Worst golf cart place ever! We rented 2 carts from them for a week and had to return 2 of them due to a flat tire because was so bald and steering wheel issues. They shake so bad to the point you feel like you might crash. They gave us a lock with a bent key and it broke inside lock and they said we had to pay for it! They expect the customer to pay for their faulty equipment?! Then they tried to overcharge me because they didn’t know what day it was even though I showed them on the calendar. They are so rude and don’t care about your concerns. Worst customer service I’ve ever had! Do not rent from this company! Beware. Take a taxi or walk to where you’re going. Taxis are great and only cost 80 pesos to go anywhere on island ($4).

The cart we rented was fine, and the location across from the ferry terminal (4 minute walk) was convenient. We had to ask for a key (or lock), which was highly recommended by other reviewers. So those are the positive remarks.
Prisma’s business practices are quite poor. They intentionally “don’t understand” emails that would result in them getting less money by a more appropriate booking (day use vs. daily rate). When we brought this to their attention when picking up the cart, the representative said, “It’s your fault, not ours.” When we reacted with surprise, he said, “You can go rent your cart somewhere else, we have your money.”
I would never do business with Prisma again.

Our family of 6 had a horrible experience with Prisma during our visit to Isla Mujeres. First, they had no record of our reservation, so we had to utilize two carts instead of the three we had reserved. Next, one of the two carts stopped working and we had to contact them to bring us a replacement. They indicated that it should take 20 minutes and 43 minutes later a new cart arrived with no apology or explanation. When I asked for a refund, they only offered us an additional hour of use for both carts. In looking at the other carts driving past us, ours looked old and one obviously did not work well. We will not use Prisma again.

We would like to rent a premium/newer golf cart from 12/25/23-12/30/23. Could we pick it up from the Ultramar ferry? Or, could you drop it at our hotel, Izla hotel?

They are a five minute walk from the ferry terminal. As long as you aren't dragging a lot of luggage, you should be good. Go out the front of the terminal and cross the street. Turn left and walk 3-4 blocks. Prisma will be in your right.
