We did the whale shark adventure tour with Hector and it was by far the best experience of our trip. It took us about an hour to get to the whale shark location and once we were there we all did a quick jump in the water to make sure that everyone had a chance to see the whale sharks. After that it just got better and better. During the second dive we got to spend more time in the water and we got to swim alongside several huge whale sharks. We even had enough time to do a 3rd dive and that was by far the best. There were whale sharks everywhere and a swarm of manta rays also joined the party and were flipping and swimming everywhere. It was incredible! After the dives we went back to Playa Norte for a swim while the crew prepared some sandwiches and a delicious ceviche for lunch.
Hector and the crew were super kind and friendly and really made sure that we all had the best experience possible. I'd highly recommend doing this tour with Mundaca divers to anyone visiting Isla Mujeres! It was a great value for the money and an unforgettable experience.

Whale shark watching is a must if you’re in isla mujeres!! My guide, hector, was absolutely amazing. He made sure everyone was happy and excited, while also ensuring that the whales weren’t put under too much stress. For this reason, only two people were allowed to go in at one time. This is better than some companies, who don’t care about the animals. It also allowed for a more personal connection with the sharks, because it wasn’t crowded at all. It was mind blowing to see the sharks from up close. There were 12 in the area where we swam, and everyone was able to go into the water three times to swim with them. At the end of the trip, the guides made ceviche for us, which was a perfect end of the day. 10/10 would recommend! This is not something you want to miss :)

Our second time diving with Mundaca dive, and we will continue to dive with them anytime we return to Isla Isla Mujeres. 7 years ago after doing a whale shark adventure with them we signed up for a discover scuba trip to dive MUSA. I was previously certified but was way out of date and my wife had never considered diving as a thing she could do. Antonio and the staff made her feel so comfortable and helped her through her first dive experience that now 7 years later many five certifications and family adventures behind us we returned to Mundaca for our youngest son (11yrs) to do his discover scuba and our first dive together as a whole family…it was perfect. MUSA and Manchones Reef were beautiful. Mundaca dive welcomes you to the island and the beautiful waters around it with excitement and charisma. They are a small shop and offer you personal attention, don’t question it just dive with Mundaca!

You have to do this! My group of 3 went for my partner’s birthday and it was one of the best birthday’s he’s ever had, and that’s not an exaggeration. Aitor was an amazing guide, he is so so friendly and knowledgeable and really made our trip the best imaginable, could not imagine doing it with any other instructor. We walked in after reading a few good reddit reviews and they accommodated us last minute with hardly any wait and wow we’re so happy we chose Mundaca! Don’t look any further seriously you won’t be disappointed, this will definitely be one of my favorite memories in life!

Silver and Antonio were professional and courteous. Silver (Silverio) was charming and had much commercial experience before diving with recreational divers. You can tell he has much passion for the sport. They were able to do a "Mcgiver' fix on a broken fin strap - worked on 2 dives. LOL We dove one of the navy wrecks on the south point & then came back in to spend some time on Musa . Really loved the UW art and can see how much growth has developed over many years.
Really liked that we could schedule a dive just for our 4 divers and customize where we went. Might be because they were not too busy. I would recommend diving with this shop.

Mundaca Divers proved to be the only responsive dive shop in Isla
Mujeres after I reached out to four different ones via email. Their
prompt reply and willingness to assist me with my diving needs made them
stand out from the rest. I highly recommend Mundaca Divers as the go-to
dive shop for anyone visiting Isla Mujeres. Antonio, the owner, along
with Silvana, the dive master and instructor, have triumphed in this
dive. Their expertise and passion for diving have allowed them to
explore the underwater world with ease and grace.
I had the most amazing experience diving the Musa and Manchones Reef on
my last trip to Isla Mujeres. I can't wait to go back and dive with
Mundaca Divers next time. Their team of professionals made me feel safe
and confident underwater, and I know they will provide me with an
unforgettable diving adventure again.

First There isn’t enough stars to give these guys, There is no where else you should be looking to go out with. We started off with great customer service from booking to the end of our trip. Antonio made us feel welcomed from the beginning. Mundaca went above and beyond, in my book the little things and details matter. Couldn’t ask for a better crew we had Captain Alfred “El Hermano” ,Silver, Daris, and Ruby. The crew loves they’re job and are very companionate about the animals and what they do. Alfred “El Hermano” put us in all the right spots made sure our well being was a priority . Daris is an amazing person she is so friendly and knowledgeable. Daris explained everything on the way up in detail . Silver was amazing our little guy became sea sick on the way out and Silver took care of our son like he was family. Silver also was able to get him up close to the sharks feeding. it was an unforgettable moment for him and all of us. And Ruby our master diver another amazing person she was very knowledgeable and passionate. The cool thing was as many times as she has seen the whale sharks and Manta Rays, she was just as excited as we were seeing them for the first time. Ruby also was our chef for the trip. Fresh ceviche, guacamole, fresh fruit, and sandwich it was Awesome! Mundaca Divers was the best choice we made for our Whale shark adventure. I truly wasn’t expecting the service we received being tourist. Mundaca made it very personal we highly recommend. We will be using them on trips to come. You won’t be disappointed. Where to start! The day we spent on the boat was easily the highlight of an amazing trip! Prior to the trip they were very patient in answering all of our questions and giving us several options for what our day could look like. My wife and I are avid divers and were traveling with friends who had never really even snorkeled before. So having options for everyone to enjoy was very helpful. Our crew that day (El' Capitan, Arturo, Sliver Fox (though he was definitely more fish than fox), and Hector) was confident, knowledgable, very engaging and all went out of their way to make sure we had a great experience. The calmness with which they operated in the absolute chaos that was diving with whale sharks (think a feeding frenzy but instead of piranhas, its boats and sunburned gringos bobbing in the water) was incredible. Their expertise and attention assured us that we could focus on our experience with the sharks while they kept tabs on us and everyone else. These guys know their business and their waters well. Also DO NOT miss the chance to enjoy the El Capitan's ceviche that he makes fresh on the boat, it has possibly spoiled me on ceviche for the rest of my life! The sharks were amazing, the reef snorkel was some of the best I've seen, the crew was stellar, and the day was one that we will all look back on fondly for the rest of our lives. Thanks so much to the Mundaca dive team for such a memorable day! I can't recommend these guys enough! We will be back!

Hi, I've been diving with you before, but I can't remember - do I need to bring my own mask and fins or can I rent everything I need from you. In the US, you need your own mask, snorkel, fins, but I'm trying to travel with only a carry on if possible.

hi! Don't worry about that, we provide you the full scuba diving gear. Just enjoy!

Jens

Hi there.
Four of us are staying in Cancun from March 20-27 and are planning a day trip to Isla Mujeres. Two of us would be interested in snorkelling, but don't want it to eat up the whole day...we're thinking maybe a couple of hours total at most sot that we still have plenty of time to explore the island and take in some of the other sights. So just a few questions for you to help us plan!
How long are the snorkel-only tours, and where do they go? Can you go right from shore, or is a boat required? Are they on a reef, or do they go to the underwater museum? (My friend would like to see the statues, but I've read that unless you are on SCUBA it's not worth doing...I actually dove in the museum a couple of years ago, but while it was a shallow dive, I seem to remember thinking it would be too deep for an average snorkeller...would you say that's accurate?) Finally, do you know what the price is for the snorkel tours?
Our plan is to take the first ferry from Cancun over in the morning, then catch the one going back to Cancun late afternoon (I think it's around 6pm?). Any other suggestions for a day trip like this?
We've been to Mexico several times, but never visited Isla Mujeres before, so any advice would be appreciated! Thanks!
