Sadly it was my worst diving experience. In the beginning, everyone from the crew felt welcoming. While trying on my gear beforehand in the shop, I already said that my fins were a bit too big. I got smaller ones that were definitely too small. The third pair felt somewere in between, but they didn't have any other choice. So I guess you already feel it coming.. While descending during my first dive, I lost my right fin after a couple of minutes. There was only one instructor, and after a lot of signaling that I wasn't OK, he only noticed about 5 minutes afterward that my fin was missing. He did offer to give me his, but I noticed it would be way too big for me. So, with a strong current and passing through small caves, I finished my dive. I got more help from a fellow diver (that apparently owned his own dive shop in the US) than from the dive instructor. On the boat they only had 1 extra pair of fins that were too big for me. So I had the choice, dive with 1 fin or skip the dive. And as a cherry on top, they made me pay for the fin. After providing me with a bad size and offering no other options. Because I don't have a dive computer, the instructor had instructed me to stay by his side for the 3 minute safety stop. After completing this, he signaled (as comunicated on the boat) me that I could go further up. On the boat he told me that I didn't complete the safety stop. I was completely in shock, I had trusted him for my safety stop and had listened closely for his instructions.. So for the second dive, I asked for clear instructions. When it was time I used the manometer to determine the depth and then he would tell me when 3 minutes had passed. After a lot of signaling from him for me to go up, it turned out the manometer wasn't working properly and I was already low on air.. In conclusion, this was my worst experience due to lack of good communication and safety. This should ALWAYS be number one priorities when diving.

Great for experience divers. If your looking for big step off the boat this was the option every time in our big group of 16-20. The boat was split up with 2 dive master and some would go deep, while others stayed shallow. Had fresh water tank for camera’s and to rinse gear off. Snacks was always amazing. Drink cup was a nice touch to be provided while on the boat and use on the island.

Decided to go with Cozumel Marine World because they were next to our hotel. This was my first dive since getting certified and the dive master made me feel more like a nuisance than a paying customer. I had some equipment issues right from the start, with a leaking tank. I also had not perfected buoyancy with a full wetsuit and different amount of weights and the dive master’s response was to disconnect my BCD from the air tank, which did not make me feel too comfortable since this was done under water without any communication. After a day of dives, I was ready to give up scuba diving forever because Cozumel Marine World made me feel like I was the problem. However, after trying several different diving companies the following days, I determined that how I was treated was not the norm and other companies will take the time to help you enjoy the dive safely. If you are relatively new to diving or want to be in a smaller group that takes more precautions, then Cozumel Marine World is not for you.

Cozumel Marine World (CMW) did excellent job of caring for me and my daughter over a 4-day 2-dives/day week. CMW breaks up the larger groups into 2 boats of smaller groups and selects dive sites by ability and group input. We hired Manuel as our private dive master (which is optional but was super helpful for us since I had sprained my ankle and was a relatively new diver using nitrox for first time). Manuel did a great job with dive safety, teaching us to improve our skills, and showing us animals and cool coral formations we would not have found alone. Boat hands took great care of us too - snacks during the surface interval and Charlie loaned me his mask when mine blew off the boat. CMW took COVID safety seriously and we felt comfortable. We stayed at Casa Del Mar which is across the street - see seperate review - they were also fantastic.

We go to Cozumel yearly in October with a group of scuba divers that range from advanced and seasoned to beginners (for 20+years). This year we did 2 weeks in July and 1 week in October. We always dive with Cozumel Marine World. They have experienced staff and an efficient operation. They are always professional, courteous, and extremely helpful. The boat staff go above and beyond to make sure your dive is as effortless and productive as possible. The boats are comfortable and spacious. The divemasters are all experienced at Cozumel diving and make sure you see abundant, beautiful sea life. Highly recommend this team!
