We had a great time on the horse back ride. When it was time to leave he made it a point that both his both his shirt pockets needed to be filled because that was how they were paid...even though the tour cost $96 USD...More
We booked the Mayan Ruins by Horseback tour when we visited Cozumel on a cruise. We booked direct via Facebook.
We joined those from the cruiseship and travelled to the ranch (a good 40 mins) on a bus which I would describe as a converted...More
The ad mentions a 30 minute ride to the site through the rainforest -it's actually a 40 minute ride on a non air conditioned old bus. Once you get to the Ranch, Tony and Carlos are great. They will instruct you on how to ride...More
We decided to book this excursion external to the cruise ship offerings. I read other reviews about this particular tour and chose it based on the opportunity to not only ride horses but also see nature and Mayan Ruins. The reviews below were helpful, but...More

We spent day in Cozumel at Rancho Buenavista with Carlos. The ranch was beautifully kept and the horses were incredibly sweet and well mannered. We did bring bug spray but we did not experience too many mosquitoes. On the way back to the cruise ship,...More
I booked this excursion through Norwegian cruise lines while aboard the Norwegian Pearl. I wanted to horseback ride and also see the beach a little bit while in Cozumel. While on my horseback tour we had Carlos as our guide. Carlos was very knowledgeable about...More
Staff was friendly and knowledgeable. Horses are well cared for and gentle. It took little to no effort to ride, and we’ve only ridden a handful of times before. Beautiful facility with places to lounge while you wait and clean bathrooms. Would go again.
I was expecting us to wind up on a beach with the horses (because isn’t that pretty much why you would book horse back riding in the Caribbean?) nope- it was just a trail thru trees. It did take us by Mayan ruins which was...More
I received my Map Chick maps of Cozumel and see there is a Palmita's Ranch with horseback riding pretty close to Secrets Aura where we are staying. Has anyone rode horses there and any experience to share? I see there is also a Rancho Buenavista. How far from Secrets Aura is this location?

My guess is about 10 miles. You can measure it on Google Maps, though.
East Side Road Nearing Competion (14 Replies)
Its reporting the coastal road widening is almost complete. The delay now is mostly one property owner refusing to give right of way on their property. This property is Rancho Buenavista which is the last major hurdle. The real irony is that the property is owned by the family of the leader of the National Chamber of Commerce, Services and Tourism Cozumel, better known by its acronym Canaco-SERVYTUR . This is much needed and it is hoped the project, in the works for about 7 years, can soon...More

In terms of relative miles as a percentage of completion, the above news article might be correct. In terms of work to be done on the remaining miles, the project is nowhere near completion. It's pretty obvious to anyone who makes it to the east side on a regular basis. Cozumel is jeopardizing its IromMan agreement with these delays. It was supposed to have been finished for last year's IronMan. It wasn't.
