About
Enjoy the natural beauty and marine life of the island of Cozumel by visiting the Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park. Swim with friendly dolphins, get up close and personal with manatees, and watch an impressive performance at the sea lion show. Due to the island’s eye-catching coral reefs and interesting collection of submerged sculptures, the park’s snorkeling tour is also a great way for kids and adults alike to explore. When hungry, choose between the three ocean-view restaurants. It's recommended to arrive early to snag a good spot by the beach. You can also rent a private cabana for an extra cost. – Tripadvisor

    Awesome resort
We had a great time here. The staff at the Blue Lagoon Restaurant were amazing and very friendly. we used MJs dive shop for our snorkel gear rental and they were very friendly. We had an issue with a leaking snorkel and they replaced without any issues at all. They also had lockers for our stuff. The staff at Blue Lagoon made some awesome drinks and all around made for a great time. We stopped by the Tequila Museum there for some tastings and had a margarita from a cart run by Juan Lopez who hand painted clay pots he mixed the drinks in. Everyone was very friendly and helpful and it made for a great experience.
Thank you for taking the time to share your experience with others, we are glad to know that your experience was great at the park, we hope to see you very soon at another of our parks. greetings!

Great experience for families with members who have special needs.
We had a great experience at the park. It was actually our second time there. But I really wanted to come here to compliment our trainer/marine biologist Linda. She had two young adults with special needs in her group, one of which was my son. The way she accommodated the ENTIRE group and made sure everyone was included was absolutely amazing. The other young woman in attendance had been sitting out on the stairs but Linda was able to get her dad to carry her closer to the water and was able to get the dolphin Kathy to interact with her in a way that was meaningful and impactful. I wish everyone could have seen her smile after she touched the dolphin. I was blown away by Linda’s intentional inclusion. Would come back over and over!

    Wonderful experience!
The entire staff was helpful, informative, patient, and kind. We can’t remember his name, but our guide with the manatees was incredible! Nohutch was such a patient, attentive creature! Christina with the sea lions made our visit very memorable.
Thank you for your comment, we are glad to know that your visit was fun... we hope to see you very soon!

    Fantastic day!!
This your was excellent! So informative on Mayan culture, ruins, and architecture. Leo is an AWESOME guide. The lagoon is beautiful and a fantastic addition. The combo your is the easy to go! Another word about Leo. There was one couple on our tour that was DIFFICULT! they were an hour late. They complained about everything from the volume of speaking to the food (which was excellent) to the bathrooms to change to beach wear AFTER those options were made clear. Leo was gracious and professional with them the entire tour - though the rest of us were in eye roll mode. He is such a great guide!

Nice snorkeling. Quiet day for 5 boats in port.
The snorkeling is amazing. There are a lot of sea fans, statues & we seen barracuda & several smaller fish. There were some waves from all the boats which made the water rough at times. The water is also deep for small children. It's best to take them to the pool. The Mayan village was interesting. The sea lion show was good . We also enjoyed watching the dolphins from the boardwalk. Bring your own snorkeling gear. They have some to rent to it seemed expensive to me. The bad: I was trying to decipher if the waiters were being helpful or annoying. They were hovering over our shoulder at all times. The wifi was always down which was disappointing when we came in from a cruise & needed to connect with our children at home.

    Amazing snorkeling!
Best snorkeling ever!!! This was my third time at this park and I was again taken away by the amazing snorkeling. Food was good and we had great service from Jose! However, when we went to get a life jacket for my youngest child, boy was the worker there miserable! I felt like I was bothering him and when I had concerns that the vest was too small, the guy took it from our hands, loosened the straps (which I could have done myself) and literally threw it back to us. It's a shame such a beautiful park had such a poor worker.

    Good snorkeling
We went as a part of a tour that also included transportation, the ferry ride, and glass boat rides. The park was the better part of the tour that day because of the snorkeling. We arrived with our guide (Cucurumbe) who had arranged the tickets, and the snorkeling gear. The waves were a bit challenging for some. As other reviews mention some vendors will call to you and the facility is a bit worn. Our tour also included lunch which was nothing special. The snorkeling was much better here than with our glass boat tour. We did look at the replica Myian area. If I were to ever go here again, I would skip the package and go on our own.

    Nice nature park
Chankanaab is a very nice Nature park. We took a taxi from the port. They have a place where you can swim with Dolphins, we didn't but looked at it. We went to the beach area. Snorkeled. It was nice, saw some fish. It was average snorkeling. They have places to sit under palapas. There are a few restaurants, we didn't eat there though. They had a Sea Lion show that was cute. Enjoyed our time time there.

Definitely would recommend for beach break while in port on a cruise. So much to do and see
A great choice for a day excursion while in port on a cruise. We booked through Royal Caribbean. Tour guide, transportation, all-inclusive armbands. Quickly found our tour guide at the port and once a group of us were checked-in, we were on a taxi van and at the park in a short while. Awesome place. Nice restrooms, great food, pools, beaches, snorkeling, sea lion show, Mayan ruins all available with all-inclusive. Plus there are massage huts, hair braiding, swimming with dolphins, souvenir shops, tattoos, etc along the beach front. Would definitely recommend. Book early, it gets BUSY

We booked this excursion through ShoreExcursioner.com, and we got there by taking a cab from our cruise ship to the location. The instructions we had been given told us to ask for a specific person. We asked for that person and he was very good about assisting us with our final payment and then escorted us through the resort, pointing out attractions. We had purchased snorkel, mask, and fin rental so he walked us to that location near the far edge of the property. They also offered us life jackets and a locker to store our belongings. We had to leave a driver license as a “deposit” which we got back upon our return of the locker key. There were lots of chairs located along the beach with plenty of shade also available. There was a smaller shallow beach area for kids as well as a swimming pool, but the main attraction for us was the snorkeling. There were a number of sets of metal stairways that led into the water which helped when you had on the snorkeling gear. They had buoys near the edge of the water to delineate when it was too rocky/dangerous. There was a short sea lion show offered a couple times per day (times posted) which was very entertaining. There was also a large area with dolphin interactions that usually had long lines. We had purchased lunch with our package with service which began at 1 PM. The buffet line had a choice of several items and servers dished the food onto your plate along with a choice of water, soda, or beer. The waitstaff at the restaurant was very nice and the food was overall good.

My family I paid for the encounter adventure package. It cost 99.00 per person. We booked it through our hotel. When we got there and checked in, we were told that it would be 65.00 extra person for pictures of us with the dolphins.
So, we were charged 99.00 for our package and then was told we can be upgraded for free , if we pay the 65.00 per person for the pictures.
After our encounter package was over , the photographer leads the group straight to the computers inside to view the pictures .
Now, at this point, we are told the pictures are 280.00 usd . We say no, now it’s 185.000 and the last amount went down to 160.00 total.
One picture was 40.00 each. No way!

There are no cameras or phones allowed when you enter the actual dolphin area .

This park is too much money. The picture should be included in the payment of your package . This park has NO pictures included and they didn’t tell you when you book your adventure.

Why would a family swim with dolphins and not expect a picture to included in a 100.00 usd adventure . Or , charge 10.00 per picture as a digital . This is no cost to the company . No paper or ink charges for the business.
What a disappointment for me and my kids .

We originally booked a snorkel and beach package for a Carnival Cruise excursion. However, the weather was such that snorkeling was advised against (too windy). We booked an impromptu dolphin swim. Jose was the dolphin trainer that we had. He was FANTASTIC!!! Me, my wife, our 12yr old daughter, our 18yr old son and his 2 friends all had a great time. Jose was attentive, personable, polite and was great with the dolphins. You could tell Jose really enjoys what he does and cares for the dolphins. We did a dolphin swim in the Bahamas last year, which was good. But this was 10X better. 10/10 would recommend and would go back.

Not crowded; lots of options for reasonable price. Drinks were sugary with little booze- americanized compared to what we had at our hotel and other restaurants. Set up seems to be mainly for cruisers. While we didn't snorkel I liked that you could snorkel on your own rather than a guided tour. There is really no beach here- you drop off a rocky ledge to snorkeling or there is a small sandy spot into a rocky area where little kids were hanging out. We tried snuba and while I was a little scared the guide was fantastic and it was a cool experience. I highly recommend if you want to ease into diving. It was way better than the snorkel tour we paid for outside of the park. They will want to take your picture and charge you a significant amount for them -50 + usd. One other thing we liked is there is some trails to walk along to get some natural experience. It was meant to be a Mayan experience (all replicas) but we just enjoyed the peaceful walk through the trees. There were dolphin and manatee experiences but I don't like using animals that way so we didn't participate in that.

So this is the 3rd time we have come to Chankanaab while in Cozumel. We love the animal experiences, and the atmosphere. Each time we come, we bring different family members with us so that they get to experience it as well. We had the dolphin and manatee encounter and they were wonderful. The staff and trainers were very informative, and answered all questions that the kids in our group had. After the encounter we got lunch and drinks. Both of which were good, no complaints. Then we went to the tequila tasting and it all went down hill. We tasted the different tequilas, and even agreed to purchase some of them. They did not have the 18 year tequila available to taste but they wanted $249 a bottle for it. After some discussion back and forth we bought two different bottles of tequila and a thing of agave for the agreed upon price of $290. They however charge your card in pesos for which they charged our card for $5800 pesos telling us that was $290 US. The conversion rate was not posted and we had not made any purchases yet in Mexico to confirm if it was or not so we trusted them (mistake)! When I got back out to the main area I turned on my wifi and my emails came in showing my out of country charges. Imagine my surprise when the Tequila place had charged my card for $337.39 instead. The employees had told us the conversion was 20 pesos to 1 USD. However the rate that we were charged was 17 pesos per dollar. So they charged us more than what we were told. When I went back they wanted to argue with me. I gave them the tequila back, and had the charge credited back to my card. They charged my sister over $80 more than what they had told her. So she had hers credited back as well, paid cash for just one bottle. We let the tour guide know, Idalia stated she did not know of this happening before. We loaded up and headed back to our port not nearly as happy as we had been earlier in the day. I don't know when will return, but we know we will never deal with the tequila people again.

This is nothing more than a hyped-up place to extract as much as they can from tourists. Dolphin experience is great, but it is way overpriced. Then they make more money by not allowing any photos to be taken. They force you to use their photographers and then buy the photos for very high prices. Gift shop prices were very high also. Admission price did come with good food and drinks including alcoholic drinks. After the dolphin experience, there was nothing really to do. Zip lines were closed. Snorkeling in the nearby beach was problematic due to the rough seas caused by a local storm passing through. Mayan ruin tour was scenic but not exciting.

On Monday December 5, 2022 we took a quick taxi ride, cost US$12, to Chankanaab. Entrance fee with snorkeling was US$56 for 2 people. My wife found a $2 off coupon per person, otherwise it would have cost US$60 to enter. The grounds are huge, with plenty beach chairs, shade and food options. We easily found our snorkeling gear and we were provided a free locker to store our camera and clothes. What we left on the beach chair was safe. The snorkeling was really good. Very enjoyable.
Once out of the water and back at the beach chairs, a waiter from a close restaurant came over with a menu. He was very polite and was not pushy. When we passed on any food and drink, the waiter was still very polite. If we return to Cozumel, I would come back. Plenty of taxis were available to take us back to the dock and the return price was also US$12.

We visited Chankanaab as part of a cruise excursion on the Disney Dream. I must say I am shocked by all of these great reviews. While our dolphin encounter was fun it was quickly overshadowed by the rest of our experience. It seems that they cram as many people into this park as they possibly can. We were supposed to get lunch and an open bar as part of our excursion but there were so many other cruise ships there on the same excursions it was impossible to get any food or any drinks. The line for the food was so long and wrapped around inside the large building. people were shoulder to shoulder trying to get around. My husband did decide to get in line for the bar but he stood and waited for a solid 30 minutes and nobody helped him. We were offered 3 departure times to return to the ship. We had anticipated staying longer but since our experience was so bad we left at the first possible opportunity. I think they need to manage the number of people they are selling these packages to. To put a cherry on top the amount of money they wanted to charge for our photos was absurd. They wouldn't let you take your phone or any type of camera out onto the pier area. So you were completely at their mercy for photos. When I inquired about the photos they said each photo was $40!!!! for 1 picture. When I said how absurd that was the gentleman said oh I can give you your entire photo package for $300 which in total we only had about 10 pictures taken. He made this big deal like I was getting such a great deal. We left and will never be back. Thumbs DOWN!!!

This place was a complete rip off and complete shake down. DO NOT go here. Right next door you can go to Money Bar which is a beach restaurant where you can not only snorkle for free, but there were WAY MORE FISH. Same kinds of coral and fish but Chankanaab Adventure Beach Park was just worse in every way (less fish, more walking to get into the water, had ti take time and pay, and people trying to upsell you on crappy activities every five minutes).

We had a very pleasant time at Chankanaab. We thoroughly enjoyed the sea lion show and the nice server Manual at the Dolphin View restaurant took great care of us. The food there was ok. We had really good guacamole at a place behind the huts where you get your snorkel gear. We chose to do a separate (additional cost) diving course with MJS and it was the wildest experience we ever had learning and getting in the water to scuba dive. Our favorite was the tequila tasting experience we had with Caesar at Tequilera Reyes. Such a knowledgeable and passionate person about his family business. (5th generation ) We were not big tequila drinkers but after tasting and learning about the process we bought several different bottles! NOTHING like our regular liquor store stuff. Overall I would recommend this experience for anyone.
