Could see marshes on one side and turquoise ocean on the other side of same vista. Crocodiles on the marsh side.

Interesting spot, but were way too many people when we visited... The beach is great! The views are huge!

Stepping back to the times of Spanish ownership and pirates, this lighthouse houses a small museum of artifacts and historical stories. Outside are the typical vendors, and sometimes a guy with two parrots. You can wander around the grounds and the beach, have refreshments at the little bar, shop, and relax in hammocks. Punta Sur is about a 30 minute... More

We stopped by here on our one day jeep tour from Iberostar resort. This was an excellent and very interesting stop and we learned a great deal of history in the areas beneath the lighthouse itself. The steps are a real bear as there are >100 and the stairway is very narrow but if you are physically up to it,... More

The stairs are worth the work. It is tight going up and down. It isn't a big deal squeezing past folks for the payoff at the top.

Lots of stairs. The tours were pretty cheesy. We just found it to be boring and not much to see. The view was good from the the lighthouse but that was about it.

The lighthouse is inside an eco park. We saw crocodiles and the view from the top of the lighthouse is something else. Nice beach area with really good food. Well worth the drive and small admission.

You get a little exercise along with a view of the shoreline. You see the ocean colors. Did not visit the museum, but walked on the nearby beach.
