We took a taxi to this place as we called months in anticipation and asked about details and they said we needed no reservation. When we arrived it was closed and security guard said it was like that for at least a whole good year. Luckily we were able to take a different activity on that date.
I would consider calling before venturing yourself to go.

We recommend getting the whole package and making sure Martin is your guide!
We did the museum guided tour, the chocolate making tour and lunch. All in all we spent about 3 hours, but we could have stayed much longer.
Martin is a wealth of knowledge and he is happy to answer questions while teaching TONS about Mexican culture, history and geography. Just an amazing guide! He also took great photos for us throughout the park... above and beyond service for sure.
The chocolate was a delight! We made our own bars while we were spoiled with chocolate drinks (they can make with or without alcohol) and treats! We were given homemade mole and chocolate dipped candies.
Lunch was also amazing! Perfectly seasoned grilled chicken “street” tacos with fresh guacamole, salsa and corn chips... I’m still full!
Please don’t miss this tour! The detail they have put into this museum is just wonderful 💕

We took a Norwegian Cruise excursion to the park.lead by Wendy, our tour guide. The Joy of Chocolate excursion. We had a great time learning the history of chocolate and even made our own chocolate bar. Afterwards, we toured the park. Wendy did an excellent job from start to finish. She was always checking to see if she had everyone in the group. She was very informative about everything. She knows her history of chocolate and of Mexico very well. She spoke very good English and was very happy. The joy of her country is contagious. She did a fantastic job!!

Miriam was the best guide we have ever had. My husband and I did the chocolate and alebreje tour. She was phenomenal. She really knows her job and is a true artist and historian. The park is immaculate and they take great pride in their facility. The lunch was the best we have had on a tour. Would recommend this for any age. The experience was so much more than advertised.

While there were a few cultural experiences, the highlights were the generous Jose Cuervo tequila tasting and the fresh made lunch with homemade tortillas, AND the margarita! This was just a fun and low key excursion. I would do it again! It was not a far drive from the cruise port, the van picked us up at the port. Not much walking and our young tour guide, Brian Sterling, was AWESOME!

Visited as part of a shore excursion on the Carnival Liberty. Loved it! Fun and interesting! Well worth the $69 per person. A short (5 min.) ride by van from the port provided as part of the tour I booked. If visiting on your own, it is not walkable, but should be a cheap taxi ride. The "park" consists of a small museum, scaled down replicas of numerous ruin sites and other landmarks throughout Mexico, a gift shop, and it is home to the Jose Cuervo Tequila Tasting. (Clean restrooms, too) The tour included the museum and grounds, a tasting, and lunch. The tasting takes place in air conditioned, renovated cargo containers and included a detailed explanation of tequila production and the differences in types of tequilas. You taste three different tequilas - similar to a wine or beer tasting - look, smell, sip, etc. After the tasting, we had a margarita and talked more about various tequilas. Of course, there is an opportunity to buy some :-) Lunch was provided, and it was great! Tacos, rice and beans, and sweet potatoes with chorizo plus one beer and one soft drink. If you're looking to buy tequila - I found that the prices there were cheaper than the duty free shops and my ship; something to consider. Cash and credit cards accepted in the gift shop.

This was way way too much money for nothing. The rooms with the exhibits were nice but the outside was a joke. The food was outrageous and the men that swing on the pole were just sitting there with there tip bucket. Complete waste of time.

This place completely ripped us off, and tried to rip us off even more! We had already paid for the deposits on our group, but when we got there, they tried to make us pay full price! We caught this error, and they corrected it, apologizing of course. Well then when the rest of our party showed up, they tried to charge them even though they were already paid for! I had to pull out receipts for them to stop haggling us! Finally, they relented. Then came the boring video that replayed over and over until we had enough, then some fairly interesting art, then holding a snake but no pictures allowed because they charge for them, then boring replicas of mexican cities. Overall, not the most enjoyable excursion. They offered food, which was OK, but nothing to write home about, as they tried to sell you stuff. Then was time for the tequila tasting. Initially, I was impressed. Diego seemed to know what he was talking about, and the tasting was really enjoyable, but mostly because of the people in the group being fun. They made us margaritas which were very good, and then offered to sell us special reserve bottles. Here comes the rip off... Basically they charged us double the cost at the cruise terminal...and sold us 4 bottles smiling the whole time! They knew they were royally screwing us and were quite content with it. When I looked at the price of the bottles (Jose Cuervo Reserva de Familia) in the terminal duty free shops, I knew we had been completely ripped off. Such a shame that these people are so thirsty for money that they leave a bad taste of mexico in the mouths of all those who realize they are rip-off artists...such a shame...

I personally regret that you seem to have had an unpleasant experience at Discover Mexico, when most of the other visitor reviews go the opposite way. Maybe you shouldn't buy anything before comparing prices elsewhere, but that's just common sense to me. I hope you did enjoy your Tequila bottles, as Mexico will be always welcoming you back, like every other visitor.
Muchas gracias

The place is just minutes walking from the port or in taxi. Pay the entrance and wait for the next tour, Memo was our Tour guide, and was really good and entertain, Try the mango Margarita with chile that a guy named Alex do in the tour, is awesome. The cruise charge to much for the whole excursion. It is safe to walk on the street. Save money by walking or pay a cab.

Non recommandé, aucun service d'autobus ne serait disponible, mais il y a peu de temps pour prendre un taxi, pour un prix approximatif de 15 USD pour un maximum de 4 personnes et pour un maximum de 15 minutes pour le prix.

Can you buy tour tickets after you get to the park and what is the best way to get there from cruise ship? Also is there a place to see prices for tour. Thanks
Written July 2, 2019
Yes, you can buy tickets when you get there or you can make your reservations ahead of time on their website, which is what we did. We just took a cab from the port.

The cruise ship works with the company to take care of everything, transportation, lunch. It’s super easy, don’t know as I would want to trust local taxis

Hola Minerva,

Hi, Chelsea,
Can you tell me, please, if you get to keep the art you paint on this tour? I would LOVE that kind of experience, but I can't tell from the reviews or advertisements if you can keep what you paint, as one does in pottery workshops in the U.S. If not, and the individuals who run the class/workshop are reading this, I dearly hope you will offer such an experience.
Thank you!
Pat
