Early into the quarantine, I learned that there was a dive company down in Cozumel that was offering a free online course, the Science of Diving. I thought that was such a thoughtful thing to do. As I took the course, I kept it in the back of mind that when things opened back up, I would like to go down there and thank them personally. This week I had the chance to do just that. I spent 3 days diving with Salty Endeavors and enjoyed every single dive more than the one that came before. Henry, the owner, is a great guy and a font of knowledge. He helped me with everything from getting to Cozumel, setting up the dives and even medical advice after I inadvertently went face first into some hydroids (something which, for the record, I do not recommend). Blethin (or B) was my divemaster for 6 amazing day dives and was great, always adapting to the varied skill levels of our small group. I'm somewhat of a newbie and felt completely safe in his hands. Martin was my divemaster on my first ever night dive and did a fantastic job pointing out all the nocturnal fishies, including the tiniest ray I have ever seen. All in all, it was a great experience and I can't recommend these guys enough. I'm already counting down to when I get back there again.

We just returned from Cozumel and diving with Salty Endeavors. I did 7 of the two tank trips, my wife did 5 two tank trips and my son did a Discover Scuba trip. I don't care for dive boats dropping a ton of divers in the water with one or two DM's and everybody having to be subject to either strict time limits or the one diver huffing air like a pissed off dragon. This makes Salty Endeavors perfect for me. They have two boats that carry more divers but limit to like 6 divers on the small boat and maybe 8 or 10 on the larger one. They also allow you to dive at either your NDL or PSI limits. So no being corralled out of the water with 1200 psi left in your tank. You get a full dive. Martin (our DM for all our dives) was more than skilled and was an absolute eagle eye in spotting marine life. We saw all the usual suspects along with black tip sharks, frogfish, lizardfish, nurse sharks, hawksbill and loggerhead turtles and much more. The owner Henry was extremely easy to work with and welcoming. We were picked up at the pier every morning from our resort on time. As to the Discover Scuba dives, the instructor was very good with our son and the other student. SE gave them time in the pool to understand the equipment better and then took them on a 2 tank instead of a one tank dive. And hovered over them like their own personal dive angel. It was my 4th time to witness a DSD and this was the only one that really took the extra pains to deal with completely inexperienced divers.

Just spent 10 days diving with Salty Endeavors. Henry help us navigate through all of the COVID rules and made this trip so easy. He joined us on a dive and for dinner. I can’t say enough about how simple he made and how well he took care of us. He boat captains Tomas and Victor were extremely versed on where to drop us and was all ready to help us out of the water and safely in the boat. My dive buddy and I have been diving since the 80’s and have been all over the world, never have we had a dive master like Martin. We left him not as a dive master but as a brother. He was attentive and knew everywhere to go. If you go and are lucky enough to have him or Henry on the boat, let them take you on a dive instead of telling them where to go.it made it much more exciting to see each day where they would take us. If I could give 10 stars they would get.

Though this was my 10th time to Cozumel, it had been nearly a decade since my last visit. When I started to get into photography, I found myself going to more macro-friendly destinations (Bonaire and Asia, mostly). However, I was pleasantly surprised at the amount of macro I was able to see diving with Salty Endeavors. I did 18 dives in 5 days with them, and had a great time. Max divers on the boat were 3 (keep in mind, this is during the whole COVID thing), including myself, and most of my afternoon trips were just the guide and myself, which was great as we just got to slowly tool around looking for small stuff. They always asked where we/I wanted to go for each dive, but since it was all relatively new to me, I was down for whatever. We rarely even saw other dive groups while in the water, and had most sites completely to ourselves. They are a very fun group of guys that I wouldn't hesitate visiting again. And, if you want to get on their good side, bring Henry some IPA from the states.
