If you're traveling to Cancún, Mexico in the near future or have it on your bucket list with water activities such as parasailing and snorkeling on your itinerary,  I highly recommend Total Snorkel Cancun.  ⁣

Here's why:⁣

1. Safety first - Brand new snorkel tubes for each guest plus before boarding the boat, you take an in-shore briefing where you'll get to test your equipment and learn other useful tips that will help you enjoy the tour at its best.⁣

2. Small group tours of no more than 4 guests ⁣

3. Attentive staff & crew⁣

Thanks again Total Snorkel Cancun for making this thalassophile's day with an awesome snorkeling experience. I got to admire underwater statues from 2 submarine art galleries: "The Blessings" and "Aquarium Family", turtles & a shipwreck from 1988 filled with colorful coral and many kinds of multicolored fish and have it all captured in pics & video⁣

The initial arrival was a bit confusing, without direction to check in at one of the desks to initiate the process/waiver/payment of marina fee. We were thankful that they had long sleeve rash guards for purchase, and not overly priced. I felt a bit rushed to start, but that was likely due to having to help my two children get ready as well. They said we could bring towels and hats, but I found I did not have the opportunity to use them, as they were stowed in a box by the boat captain. I was thankful that the guide brought a couple of their towels, because my son (7) became chilled, and my daughter and I got salt water in our eyes, which stings a bit.
I was concerned about my kids with how tall the swells were, but the guide (I wish I could remember his name, he was great!) helped out a lot by pulling my son on a buoy. My daughter (9) also needed breaks and I was surprised at how easily he pulled them!
Despite being out of their comfort zone and being a bit cold and tired, both kids wanted to try all three stops. Captain Jorge and Photographer Jorge got them back on the boat quickly when they were done, which allowed my husband and I a little time to explore without worry. Our group was lucky to see two sea turtles, and swimming into the fish near the shipwreck was very cool!
We would definitely recommend this company for family and couple snorkeling.

My husband and I came here in our first trip to Cancun. Highlight of our trip! First stop was the Shipwreck. Dropped right in to a school of fish! So many different types of aquatic life to see. Our guide, Charlie, was phenomenal. He helped those who needed a little extra help in the water, but also made plenty of time to answer our questions on the different fish we were seeing. One of the things I wanted to do the most while in Cancun was to swim with a Sea Turtle. After the Shipwreck we went out to where the Sea Turtles are known to be and the hunt began. With our guide in the boat and the photographer in the water being pulled behind they searched out a Sea Turtle. It took a while, but we were successful! They are quick little boogers so we had to be faat. It was so magical to swim alongside this beautiful creature. We finalized it with snorkeling at the Underwater statues and the reef. They were pretty awesome and looking back at the pictures I probably would've enjoyed it even more if I hadn't just gotten so excited about swimming with a Sea Turtle. If you are taking a trip to Cancun you have to make Total Snorkel a stop on your route. I would recommend it a million times over and my husband and I will be back!!

Let me preface this by saying I’ve snorkeled Hawaiian waters for 30 years.
I hate to be the David downer, but the cement “statues” are just seaweed covered cement blocks, no coral growing on them, maybe storms?
The water does have nice visibility and on a sunny day it has beautiful variety of coral. Folks that’s where the wildlife is.
I wouldn’t recommend this for weaker swimmers as the current is strong and if there is wind it gets choppy fast. Hawaiian tours are mostly in bays and not open waters if that helps the comparison.

Like I mentioned the reef is the star attraction as well as the shipwreck, due to swift currents not as much time was spent. Turtles are hit and miss as I would never count on them being there on a schedule so maybe less going there and bonus if you see them and eh if you don’t.

The crews are fantastic with outstanding knowledge and care for the participants, they make sure you feel comfortable and completely safe.

The boat could and should be larger for ease of getting in and out of, like I said if the water is choppy you will have trouble achieving that task. It’s very small and we had 9 participants and 3 crew this is during COVID, I can’t imagine how many it would take in normal times. Not a deal breaker, but be aware of the limitations of a small craft. Practice your pull ups for getting on the boat from the water is my advice beforehand.

For the price it’s an enjoyable morning, I would never take a later tour as like most oceans wind picks up as day goes on. It is entertaining and a different look from the Nizuc area.
It does provide transportation from your lodging so that is a plus.
All in all nice for the price and in my opinion I would concentrate on 1 or 2 areas instead of more.

Hello! Thank you for your comments, they really help us improve our service. The statues are somewhat "new" and as such, corals haven't really grown much, they're still babies. We hope you may come back on a later date to see our improvements!

We had a great trip, the guides were awesome and explained snorkeling extremely well. The turtles were awesome as well as the shipwreck. We saw a variety of animals and I highly recommend paying to have them take the photos!

Today we spent our day with Total Snorkel in Cancun.
We booked them because to us they made a very professional impression online and had the best reviews. The website was very informative and we knew everything in advance.
So we got picked up at our hotel with a free shuttle wich came exactly on time. After arriving at the harbor we checked in and Carlos our guide introduced himself to us and gave us our equipment. We also got a key to a locker where we could leave all our stuff. After that we were asked into the water at the pier to see if our equipment works well and I guess to make sure everyone feels safe.
Carlos explained everything very clear, and made sure everyone feels good. On the boat we were introduced to our captain Really and Alex who was the guy with the camera and who takes care that you take home great pictures of your snorkel adventure.
Everyone was very friendly, very organized and you immediately feel that they want a great experience for their customers. After a very short ride we arrive at our first snorkel site . Carlos again explained all the things to know about this site and how he makes sure that everyone stays together and safe.
We saw Seaturtles - one of them very big and old and very chill . It was a fantastic moment . Also the snorkeling at the shipwreck was fantastic. A lot of different fish - the wreck itself and the great turquoise waters.
Alex made sure he would catch the best shots of everyone and all the underwater creatures. Really the captain did an amazing job with keeping the boat in our area and was very helpful when we got back in the boat.

After we got back to the harbor we could take a shower in their very nice and clean Restrooms . After we changed in dry clothes we were taken back to our hotel in with the shuttle that picked us up in the morning.

We had an awesome time.

As I already mentioned : very friendly, customer oriented, very organized , good knowledge of the area and the underwater life

Thank you to Carlos, Really, Alex and to Total Snorkel for the great job

My family and I traveled to North Cancun and booked this snorkel through our resort. We did the 5 o'clock snorkel because it was the only one available. When we got to the place, it was so chaotic, unorganized and the boat was very small. They make you "test" your equipment prior to leaving the dock and wash out your own equipment with dish soap...during a pandemic. Red flag one. Once you are on the boat, they take you out to see the "coral reef" and the sea turtles from their nice brochure, furthest from what you will experience. We saw a few fish, seaweed and a starfish. The current was too strong and they should have canceled our snorkel due to the conditions, but they did not. We swam and swam and swam.... and the coolest thing we saw was a ship wreck and the statues. The brochure said 98% sea turtle sightings.... lies. We were in the sea turtle area for awhile, nothing. Do not be scammed by these people. The coral reef they speak of is very small and if you arent looking for it, you will miss it. We have snorkeled all over the world, this by far was the worst experience we have ever had.

Hey there Jennie, I'm sorry to hear you missed out on seeing the turtles. However we must point out that they're in their natural habitat, and are free animals, and as such, we can't 100% guarantee we'll be able to find them. Our pictures and reviews speak for themselves, we do find at least one most of the times, and we really do make a great effort in finding them for our guests pleasure. The little boat you rode, is precisely used for small groups making sure to take the most cautions possible, such as using soap instead of chemicals for you to clean your mask, not someone else. We will take your comments very seriously and make great efforts to improve our service. Hope you may return in the future for another adventure so you can have a better experience.

If you pay a lot extra for a private snorkelling tour to reduce covid risks, you do not expect the company to cram you into a transfer minibus with loads of other random people, some of whom weren't even wearing masks properly.
I explained that this was not acceptable after the first transfer, to give them the chance to rectify the situation, but they changed nothing for the transfer back. Crammed back in with the slobbish non-mask wearers once again, who spent most of the journey time eating crisps, just like the first transfer.
It's a shame, as the boat crew were excellent, and the snorkelling itself was great. Not a happy experience overall sadly.
The real irony is that I wrote this review at the time, expecting an opportunity to provide feedback - that was in December 2021. It's now August 2022 and I've only just been asked for feedback. LOLZ. Probably tells you all you need to know.

What an amazing experience. Booking was easy, hotel zone pick-up was on time, but what really made this an amazing excursion was the staff. Moises was our guide, Captain Juan guided the boat and Renata was the photographer who jumped in and swam with the group. Truly, such a highly enjoyable and recommended experience. Safety briefing was thorough, Moises was attentive to our request for two types of life jackets (which wasn’t needed ultimately but it was nice knowing it was there) and always had an eye on the group with a safety lifesaver always close by. You swim to four different spots - underwater praying hands sculpture, long grassy area where we saw two sea turtles (the longest time spent in the water), shipwreck and sunken cenotes. I would highly recommend doing this excursion, especially for those who aren’t excursion enthusiasts as this would be THE one to do. Pro tip: Keep the snorkel in your mouth while in the water so you don’t inadvertently swallow too much sea water and then get sick off the side of the boat.
