I'm not normally someone who writes reviews, but I wanted to warn other people about how these people do their business. It all started when they refused to honor a completely valid coupon for absolutely no reason at all. They were rude and gave no explanation for why they were refusing the coupon. Unfortunately, things only got worse from there. Our instructor must have been new, because he seemed lost and unconfident the entire time. I was under the assumption that the instructor was supposed to be engaging and was there to create a unique environment, but for the most part, all he did was stand there as we ate and drank. I came with a group of people who were local to the area and had been here before and they immediately knew that our instructor did not know what he was doing. We tried to make things interesting by singing and dancing, but the instructor deemed that this wasn't safe and told us to take our seat. What was even more odd was seeing people on other boats seemingly enjoying their time and interacting with their instructors in a fun and engaging way.
We reached the halfway point of our trip and got off for a scheduled restroom break only to find out that we weren't being allowed on the boat because we weren't following protocols. This of course was completely false. We approached the staff and confronted them about what was an obvious lie and they refused to even have a conversation about it. Complete ripoff for 100 bucks. Do not come here.

I brought my parents to show them an authentic Mexican fiesta and was not really impressed, specifically the food. You are paying for the infrastructure of the location and the many people who are working there but no for an Mexican Fiesta. You will get plenty of free cheap booze and fun if you are in a group (the more the merrier) but we didn't like the food at all. The show itself, t is better the show at Xcaret part or in other places. There were 2 events closed but didn't get any discount of credit for.

Jorge Luis was our guide and he made the experience so much more exciting with his entertaining expertise. The boat consists of multiple families and couples. The only downside is if you're stuck with people that do not participate in the entertainment. You just got to make the best of it. Overall great service, great good, and great ambiance!!

Omg what fun! I went in this for my 50th bday celebration and is was the best extiende and I had lots of fun. I mean, getting to dance to the different cultural Mexican dances was everything. We also got to eat authentic Mexican food and have lots of tequila. A floating fiesta indeed!

Our entertainment guide—Armando, what the best! He kept us active, dancing and laughing all the time. I think this’s the key to break the ice between the attendees.
Definitely the best experience to spend part of my birthday!

Fantastic, entertaining and a 1 of a kind experience. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for a good time on an evening while in Cancun. Edwin really kept the crowd engaged and the food was amazing. Pay no attention to reviews about the portions because although each are small, there was a good sampling of each. Drinks were plenty (lots of tequila) and live music at every turn. Hope to return again on future visits to the Riviera Maya.

My mom and I went on this tour thinking we were gonna learn about culture, and all they talked about was the boat drivers private parts size. I've never felt so uncomfortable in my whole life. I didn't want to be rude, so I just said I felt sick in order to leave early. In doing that they refused to return my money because they said I should have confronted them and told them why I truly left. I'm on vacation with my mom, I'm 16...I just wanted to go back to the hotel. They tried to give me tequila shots multiple times, then they tried to get me to dance. They were so incredibly inappropriate and disrespectful to women on this tour. The guy who sold us the tour said that was normal in that type of tour. It was the worst part of the whole trip. The girl next to me was 14 and they gave her tequila. This was traumatic, it was really bad.

Dear visitor, Thank you for sharing your comments. We're sorry the park didn't meet your expectations. As stated on our official website, Xoximilco has a party concept with music, traditional food, drinks and games. Although we do not have any age restrictions, we do recommend taking in mind that it's a party enviroment. With that said, it is strictly forbidden for our staff to offer drinks to underage people. We'll make sure to review this situation and take the necessary corrective meassures so this doesn't happen again. Best regards. Customer Service Team. Experiencias Xcaret.

Following the advice of our 20-something concierge from the Royal Sands my wife decided to surprise me with the birthday present from hell, and managed to talk 5 of our friends into joining us in a Xoximilco excursion.
Here's my sad story:
To begin with, we were told our party of 7 would be in a private van. So imagine our surprise when a full-sized bus pulled up at 7:15pm and loaded not only us but several others from the Royal Sands. We then stopped at several other hotels for pick ups and did not arrive at Xoximilco until 8:45pm, which we were told was only 10 minutes south of the airport, thus a 25 minute ride. Before we left the bus we were informed for the first time that we had to sign a release and "spray heavily for mosquitos". The bus and the spraying alone would have discouraged us from spending the exorbitant fee charged. We were also told we would enjoy drinks and appetizers and be able to socialize for a while until our gondola left. In fact, as soon as we went to the rest room and were sprayed, the name of the gondola on our tag was called. We never were able to have the benefit of the appetizers and drinks. I observed that our group of 7 was given a different gondola than the 4 or 5 other parties on our bus. I did not see their gondolas anywhere near ours when we boarded so I can only assume they were allowed time to enjoy the drinks and appetizers after the lengthy bus ride. We felt we did not need the appetizers since we had been told this was an all you can eat buffet of chicken, shrimp and ribs. Once on the gondola we were given small bite size portions. I found some yellow rice and 2 shrimp which was edible, but passed on the crickets and dried small fish. I don't drink tequila, so settled for a couple of beers and we ran out of water very quickly since it was very hot this evening.Towards the end of our trip our guide pulled out a contraption which held multiple batteries, with two wires extending and had us all make a circle while holding hands. He then proceeded to "shock" us. One of my guests had muscle spasms the rest of the night. One man on the gondola had a pacemaker and was never even warned what was going to happen since we were simply told to all join hands. Since we were obviously into a torture theme, I had to fight the urge not to waterboard my wife. I understand our agents are forbidden from using torture tactics when interrogating suspected terrorists, yet at this establishment it's considered part of the entertainment. Kind of makes me wish we spent our evening at Gitmo.
We did not enjoy the music, small food portions or being surrounded by young drunk people dancing. This all should have been told to us by the concierge or Thomas Moore representative when my wife asked, prior to purchasing our tickets at the Royal Sands. This is the type of excursion that needs to be specifically explained as to what is involved. I understand the only information Thomas Moore provided was that we would be back by 11:30pm. Had we known any of the above we certainly would not have agreed to such a tortuous 6 hours. To add insult to our injury, we got on the bus at 11:20 pm and then we had to wait until the remaining passengers on our bus arrived after 12:30am, finally arriving back at the Royal Sands after 1:00 am, exhausted, starving and still shaking from the shock we had received. I did not see any other gondola guide use the shock device on their people, which I found appalling. I am thankful I did not take my children along for the misery. I saw other children on other gondolas who were equally miserable. Both the concierge and travel agent should have told us what to expect. Our group ranged in age from mid-50's to mid-60's however, this excursion IS NOT FOR MIDDLE AGE AMERICANS!!!!!! OR CHILDREN. The events should be spelled out as such, not promoted just to get the money. The 6 young 20 something Hispanic/Americans on our gondola had the time of their lives, singing, dancing and falling down drunk. Another thing, our guide did not explain in English the food nor the stops we made, supposedly commemorating Mexican history. All we were told was we would learn a lot about Mexican history. Since he spoke Spanish to everyone, the 7 of us knew nothing of what was going on. All of the Hispanic/Americans spoke English well enough for the guide to have spoken in English and everyone understand. It truly was a night of torture in terms of the travel, food and shock. At the very least, everyone on our bus (about 25 people) should have been on the same, or at least gondolas right in a row. Why we had to wait on the bus for well over to an hour for the rest on our bus to arrive was a major screw up on the part of Thomas Moore.
Despite knowing of our displeasure we have not heard anything from Royal Resorts or Thomas Moore. (UPDATE:I did get a response from a Thomas Moore representative and he assured me his company will investigate the matter).
I have no idea if there's a Chamber of Commerce or hotel organization in Cancun but I feel they have a responsibility to put pressure Xoximilco to step up to the plate with more factual descriptions or risk the threat of no recommendations.
