After visiting Chichen Itza, I wanted to visit this museum and its archaeological site, which was kind of underwhelming after Chichen, but still quite relaxing (it's almost completely shaded by jungle trees and shrubs). There were also a lot of iguanas just running around :) As for the museum itself, it's not too large, but it had an interesting exhibition... More

Cancún is a great place to start your tour into Maya territory. Obviously it is way better to actually visit one of the nearby archaeological zones but if you cannot make it or if you wish to have a crash course on the Maya civilization, this is the place to go. Small enough to see it all and well organized... More

Excellent, and very well air conditioned museum. Lots to see, and the ruins of the Mayan village in the grounds of the museum are worth a trip too. Very relaxed and open museum. Lockers are free, tickets cost $64 pesos, about £2.50 for an adult. Good museum, could do with a cafe or vending machine selling drinks!

A great way to spend a few hours with lots of the socio-cultural aspects of the ruins. The museum is new (cool AC) with all summaries in English and Spanish (much better than the ruins efforts at this). Also there is a small settlement of ruins to walk around in a shaded area.

Very nice and lots of history. The location surprised me, it was like being in a nice jungle in the middle of the city. Clean well kept landscape and ruins. I enjoy this very much and the Iguanas.

Fairly recent building with an interesting collection of Mayan artefacts, jewels, statues. etc Alos has on the grounds a small number of Mayan ruins. Note: DO NOT forget your insect repellent. I stopped for 2 minutes and my lefts were eaten by them.

Close to the most known hotels offers a simple view and creates expectations about what to find in other historical places.

Use Internet to find out cost, location and hours. Not every cab driver, nor concierge has the same information that is accurate. Building is beautiful, spacious and clean. Museum staff speaks very little English. Not all exhibits are translated either-but not difficult to understand content. A rich, colorful history of these Mayan people is shown through artifacts, video, photos, models,... More

Although we planned all week to visit the Museum, we did not. Our hotel was within walking distance of this place and we walked past it several time. I can review the building and the grounds as viewed from the highway and pathways. From those perspectives, it appears to be very nice especially the grounds and the ruins which can... More
