Honest and customer oriented

Husband and I had intended to dive one day and contemplating maybe a swim with whale sharks tour another day. Owner Juan Cardona was surprisingly honest and after monitoring the situation days leading up to our dive, he recommended against diving because of poor water visibility in sargassum season and he thought we would just be disappointed with a sub-par experience. We decided instead to go for a private whale shark experience and it was phenomenal!!! He finalized everything for us on short turnaround. He even met us at the docks to greet and turn us over to the guide and captain on the day. There was a small snafu discovered before boarding (rented wetsuits were not on board, which was critical to us for a full day in the sun and water), but Juan stepped in and saved the day. His honesty and level of attention is the stuff that makes great customer service! As for the tour itself, it exceeded expectations. Not only did we get to swim with the whale sharks, our very early departure to get ahead of the rest of the boats gave us quiet time to swim with big manta rays spotted along the way. The boat captain was skilled at getting us in just the right position for getting near to all of the animals of the day without being harassing/disruptive to them. He also did a good job of keeping distance from other groups. (Plenty of whale sharks to go around with no need for everyone to be on top of each other). The guide was very friendly, interacted with us but also gave us our space for peace and quiet. After ample time with the sharks (a key reason I would recommend a private tour), we made a stop at Isla Mujeres for some ceviche made fresh on the boat and some relaxed floating in the water. The sharks move like subs and you’re in a cycle of jump out of the boat, swim as fast as you can, climb back in the boat, repeat... so the relaxation was more needed than we realized. We really appreciated that they didn’t rush us to leave the sharks to go to Isla Mujeres for lunching and lounging because although enjoyable, we were paying for the water time with the animals and we got it. A big thanks and job well done to Juan and his colleagues (wish I could remember the names to call out the others but hopefully he knows who they are to keep doing businesss with them - great service deserves respect)!!!

A great time with a great professional crew

My wife and I had an amazing dive in Cozumel with Juan and his crew. Juan’s energy was inspiring and exciting, and the entire crew was very supportive and in great spirits. Only warning I’d have is that the drive right now to Cozumel from Cancun can be brutal with traffic due to construction (be sure to get to the shop on time!!!!). But once we got to Juan and were out on the sea, it was magical. Being a new diver, I swam too hard and had some panic and eventually out of air. Juan had checked on us frequently but I may have misread my gauge. Another dive master from his crew quickly got to me, gave me his respirator and helped me make the necessary safety stops. I felt embarrassed and disappointed and they fixed me back up and got me back in the water for what was an amazing and perfect second dive. Needless to say, I’m now hooked on diving.

4 Great Dives with Squalo

My family and I did four dives total with Juan. The first two dives were easy reef dives as it had been a while since we had all dived. The next day we did 2 Senote dives which was incredible! Juan and Alex are very skilled and knowledgeable. They made sure we all felt comfortable. Juan runs a great dive shop located about 15 minutes off of the hotel zone so it is not as visible as some other dive shops but his equipment and business is top notch. I would highly recommend the Senote dives with Juan! It was amazing scenery and something quite different from the ocean. Juan's pricing seems fair and he is responsive to inquiries. One thing that made it more challenging was the added time in the day our outings took due to the transportation to the dive shop and then from the dive shop to the boat or Senote. Juan relies on other captains with boats and we ended up waiting about 45 minutes at the dock the first day for ours to show up. These inefficiencies were not a huge deal to us but do take time out of the afternoon if planning something afterwards.

Great dive experience

My husband and I did 2 dives with them. The trainers Frank, Carla and Alex were fantastic. The training in pool was helpful and the trainers gave us enough attention and helped us gain confidence. The dives were great, the second one especially, as we’d become more comfortable with the gear. Underwater, the trainers were constantly checking on us and helped us have a great time. Would definitely recommend them for any kind of dive!

Excellent Service Even When We Couldn't Make the Dive.

I planned a day for my husband and I to dive three dives while we were in Cancun and unfortunately, the weather did not permit! As we were unable to get out to the reef, we were forced to cancel our entire day of diving. Normally, you might expect this to be a difficult process, but Juan (who personally helped us arrange the excursion) was also able to facilitate the entire cancellation and refund. It took a little while with PayPal, but he was extremely responsive and so kind throughout the process. When we return to Cancun, we'll definitely go back to Squalo, simply for their great service!

familia and amigos - best dive trip and best dive shop and crew in Mexico

If I could give 6 Stars I would. When diving in a foreign country feeling safe is the most important thing. From the instant I spoke with and met the staff I couldn’t have been in a better place. From Juan and his amazing photography all the way down to Tachi and Dani the crew made me feel like family. I would never dive with anyone else in Mexico. Personalized, instructive, helpful and beyond friendly and fun.

We dove a Wreck Dive, multiple reefs and even Dos Ojos in a Tulum. I will recommend this anyone who want a fun, safe and amazing dive with amazing people.

Thank you for everything and making me feel like
one of the guys.

Every time I come to Cancun I dive with Juan and his team (did certification with them as well) - can't recommend them enough. Professional, patient and fun! The guides are always helpful and protective of you regardless the experience level. Juan, thank you very much!

Not your usual Dive shop, amazing guide and amazing dive

I stumble Squalo Divers when I was walking down the street in Cancun. I was going to do the underwater museum but Juan suggested that I do some special Cenote dives that I had never done before as the weather was no good for ocean dive. So Juan took me to Cenote Zapote (Hell Bell), Cenote Maravilla and less known Cenote Azul Ha. The dives were so amazing, I had gone to Dos Ojos, El Pit, Angelita and Tajma Ha prior to signing up this dive trips. The dive I did with Juan are all deep dive over 30M, he suggested me to go with Nitrox and provided me computer with technical dive. This enhanced me to stay down in the deep zone longer than using Air. Juan was a very knowledgeable guide and he made sure everyone is safe and okay during diving. After the dive, Juan took me for an amazing Cerviche / Burrito lunch. Other dive shop and guide would have just given you a sad little sandwich to get it over with. I had a fun day diving in those incredible Cenotes and end the day with amazing food. Incredible experience I have with this dive shop.

Making Dreams ComeTrue!

I was looking for a way to take my dream trip to Galapagos over Christmas and New Years. From the moment I learned of Squalodivers and was connected to Juan I knew he could help my dreams come true! He sent photos, explained options, made sure I thought through the details, and helped me with my booking. I had a resource and new friend in him right away! I was thrilled with my choice of the Aqua M/V. It was a phenomenal choice with a great blend of 19 dives and lots of additional tours & education from a naturalist & marine biologist. I can't speak highly enough of my experience in the Galapagos and highly recommend Juan & Squalodivers to help you with whatever trip you want to take!

Best Dive Shop in Cancun

Foremost, I must say that I'm coming from Chicago and have over 100 dives in tropical locations under my belt. Shop owner, Juan, was beyond nice and helpful from start to finish. I was unable to make my planned dive, because of unforeseen circumstances on the day of and Juan offered to refund me right away. Instead, I went diving the next day which he made arrangements to just take me out solo. For an international traveler, I recommend Squalo Divers to the utmost of my ability. These guys are pros in and out of the water! Safety was number 1!
