Jose with Cancun Tarpon Fishing took out myself and my 9-year old grandson. Jose was awesome - very informative and incredibly (INCREDIBLY) patient. My grandson has done quite a bit of bass fishing with a 6' rod but he was pretty inexperienced fishing a longer rod and heavier fluke. Jose made sure he was rigged up right. We had a few bird's nests but Jose was on them super quick and just handed over another rig to the kid to keep him fishing. If you are thinking about taking out your younger kid (grandkid) then check out this group - the lagoon is the way to go and this this group of guides knows that the real trick is staying positive and being encouraging. Jose was a great guide to the very last cast. I've been out with a ton of guides and quite a few think they are in some kind of tournament with you - trying to out-fish you and prove they are great anglers. There was none of that goofiness with Jose - straight up he let me know this trip was about us and getting us on fish. Already planning my next trip with this group!

Martin runs an amazing operation. Incredible fleet of boats and booking was very easy. Mau was our guide and he was also incredible. He was very patient with showing us how to cast and turning us to fish. We are Colorado-based River fly fishers, so here’s the warning: throw out everything you know about river fishing for the salt water and tarpon. We were like beginners and didn’t net a ton of fish, but that had nothing to do with them and was all about our technique. We left feeling like we wanted to go again, and if you fish, you know that means you’re hooked. This outfit is for people who fish... so keep your expectations lower on catching a ton, and higher on having a genuine Lagoon fishing experience. We will be back. Also- this is catch and release for those wondering. Send ‘em back for the next group. Yes!

If you’re a fishing enthusiast looking for a TRUE fishing adventure, look no further! After a disappointing experience with a deep sea charter the day before, I found my experience with this company to be extremely refreshing! The boat is nimble and you are able to reach tight spots and multiple spots very quickly. The boat is quiet, engine turns off so you can truly be immersed in nature. My guide, Noel, he knows the topography of the lagoon very well and will hook you on to practically any fish you’re looking for. He knows where they all live! He’s very kind, helpful, and knowledgeable about the local fish and the many ways to hunt them. I had such an amazing time the first time that I actually booked a second trip! Noel was able to deliver an amazing experience both times.

Service was excellent! Noel was an amazing guide and great host. Tough day on the water and he still put us into fish. Will be back when I can.

Absolutely could not be happier with my experience with this outfit. Fishing has always been about the experience for me with the catch being icing on my cake. The day I spent with my guide Mau couldn’t have been more perfectly about just that: the experience. It was literally like learning to cast a fly rod all over again and I don’t know how many fish I spooked but it was a lot. I kept at it for 8 hrs and Mau didn’t give up on me; the dude drove me all over the lagoon to find fish I could cast to. Finally, in the last hour I hooked 2 and landed one. He wasn’t huge but he was a tarpon and the EXPERIENCE has me hooked for good! Martin and Annette run a good shop and I’d recommend their outfit to anyone wishing to pop their salt water fly fishing cherry in the Cancun area. I WILL be back!
