I’ve stayed in this area for a few weeks now and this is definitely my favorite beach near the city. Sometimes the waves are intense but sometimes it’s super calm, so if you have kids maybe just keep an extra eye out. The algae here has also been limited and on other days there has been a ton. However, I did see them cleaning the algae out front of the resorts. The water is very blue and shallow prettt fat out. Visibility is good but as far as snorkeling there isn’t much to see. There is food and bars close by and I did see a bathroom but didn’t use it. Overall a great beach and I’d highly recommend it.

I swim at this beach for 9 days.
It is fully crowded on weekends with local people, also some people spend the night there.
The beach has a part that doesn't have such big waves, were you can enter normally into the water and swim. It is by the pier.

Also be aware that Coco Bongo is situated here, so you will listen to very loud music all day long.

This beach is so beautiful. Turquoise waters, white sandy beaches and cotton candy skies at sunset. There was a great mix of tourists and locals at the beach. I'd be at this beach everyday to watch the sunset if I lived in Cancun. Don't skip out on visiting the beautiful beach!

This place is great. It’s family owned and they really care. Every time I come to St. Augustine I eat here at least once. Everything I’ve had here is excellent. The Mole is wonderful. My friend had carnitas and she said it was the best she ever had. I had shrimp chac mool and really enjoyed it.

Took the R1 bus to Chac Mool Beach. Important! Do not get off the bus at the Playa Chac Mool sign--get off at the Playa Chac Mool ACCESS. Otherwise a pretty long walk. Very nice quiet public beach. Lounge chairs available in exchange for your ID and a small $tip. Beautiful turquoise blue warm waters to frolic in. Lifeguards there too. No glass bottles. But no problem with coolers, plastic bottles or cans. Bring lunch/snacks. There is an Oxxo convenient store in front. Chairs due back by 4pm.

The view to be had from rocky outpost left of public area is good, for few moments. The photos exaggerate the niceness of this beach.

I saw picture of Chak mool in a tourist book in front of this beach. Thought that the statue is in here and looked around but found nothing.. But the beach is great.. beautiful. Lots of people running and jogging here. Do go to the rocks (left after you enter the public beach) and get a slightly elevated ariel view

This beach gets its name after the Mayan God of Rain, “Chaac Mool. It is located on Kilometer 10 in Cancun’s Hotel Zone, right in front of Señor Frogs Restaurant.

This beach and Gaviota Azul beach are adjacent to each other (I guess separated by the small hill), just .5 Km apart so I consider this one big long wide stretch of beach. But waves here can be bit aggressive some time due to the wind which is not the case in Gaviota Azul beach. Its waters seem calm at first sight, but do not let appearances fool you; the undertow is strong and can be dangerous for inexperienced swimmers

Unfortunately, it doesn’t have bathrooms or palapas, so if you want to get some shade you will need to rent a big sun umbrella for around 100 to 150 MXN pesos per day.

This place is beautiful! The public entrance is right next to Hertz rental car. This beach has white sand that is soft, reasonably shallow water and a little bit of snorkeling by the pier. Look for large sea urchins and some colorful fish. Not the best snorkeling but you can at least see a few creatures. There is a restaurant called Mocambo, however it is really pricey on the beach as well.Bring a beach towl, some sunscreen, a bottle of water and prepare to relax.

This was my first cenote dive and our guide took us to Chac Mool to start. Wow!! The water was so clear that without your computer you would have no idea how deep you actually were. It has a halocline and was one of the craziest things I have ever experienced and after getting used to the blurry visibility, it was amazing. It is only a couple feet thick but if you haven't been in it, you have to experience it. I am claustrophobic and found this cenote roomy enough not to cause issues, I also had a great partner which helped. The formations in this cave are beautiful and you have to go if you are in Mexico.
