About
This scenic beach is pretty to look at, but watch out in the water: the undercurrents can make it a dangerous place to swim.

Comfortable beach in the morning. Gets busier in the afternoons.
Ok to go for a few hours. There is a small OXO convenience store right at the entrance next to KoKo Bongo so can get a drink or anything you need without having to carry it all.
Sargazo could be better but hey! It’s Cancun so everywhere else is the same during season.
Afternoons after 2pm more people goes to the beach so if you want a quite place, find some else, but mornings is not packed with people and it’s not too far from town.
Safety is just like every where else. Mind your bags and enjoy the sun!

Beautiful beach, clean and clear water. Very warm, with waves you can get out of the wind and swim in calm water over by the breakwater. Sand was a bit dirty with rubbish. Otherwise lots of people enjoying the beach, quite a lot of space available, we were there on a Sunday. Few options of food (just off the beach) and beach clubs.

Right behind Plaza Forum Shopping Mall, at Kilometer 9.5 of Cancun’s Hotel Zone lies Gaviota Azul Beach. It is one of the favorite beaches for tourists due to its long and wide strip of white powdered and cool sand as well as the many bars and beach clubs around it.
In Cancun, I have been to 8-9 beaches from north to south and found this beach very beautiful. I had been to Playa Norte but due to storm reef-seaweed was all over the shore so could not enjoy there.
And I found this beach next to Playa Norte. It is right behind the Hard-rock café-coco bongo nightclubs. You can go inside the water and still you 'll find yourself till waist height.
There is one small hill and you can have perfect postcard picture from here with turquoise beach, building, sun and sand. Vendors are there to rent you out reclining chairs and umbrellas for 200-300 pesos.
It gets pretty crowded during Spring Break as many events take place on it. Even though most of the time the water is calm, when the wind blows hard the waves get pretty big; an opportunity not missed by local surfers.
As this is in the hotel zone, you 'll have to find an access point. Right down to coco bongo signboard, you can find small street going towards the beach. Take that.
We found it that good, we even came In the evening to sit on the hill. Breezy wind, waves, sunset, making the time more beautiful.
If this beach is not better than not even less than Playa Norte beach.

I want to alert about the great danger of this beach, and "chad mool beach". The tide is so strong. I saw two little girls drawn in this beaches and thats something that i would never forget. There are not alerts enough for the tourist. Even when you think that you are an expert swimmer it takes 2 second and when you realize you are away from the beach and the waves dont let you do anything and could be it, i mean it. PLEASE BE CAREFUL

Great public beach access in the hotel zone between Coco Bongo and Mandala Beach club. Follow the alley between these two business to the beach. Been there many times - sometimes just bringing a towel and lay on the beach for free and buy food and drinks from the stores that are very close. You also see locals and tourists bring coolers with food and drinks and enjoy the free beach. We also have paid one of the local businesses to use their chairs/tables/loungers. Great view and sand. Can be crowded or empty depending on the time of year and weather. The surf is usually nice rolling waves, but depending on the weather can also vary from pretty calm to red flag (wading but no swimming allowed because of large waves and dangerous rip tide). If you staying in Cancun at non-beach location, or a beach location that is poor, try this public beach.

There entrance to the beach is by Coco Bongo. There are a group of men that offer Umbrellas on the beach. There is much garbage by midday, in the way of plastic cups (from alcohol) and plastic OXXO bags. The water itself is calm enough to swim in. The beach is narrow, but long. The Frigate birds dive in and eat the Gar fish or Whatever these long narrow fish are! No public bathrooms, so use the shopping malls bathroom. It is worth the visit to see the old coral reef, too.

This beach is great! Great location! Perfect sand and water! But the only thing that was overwhelming was the amount of people. All beaches in Mexico are public so there are a ton of locals. The lifeguards has to break up a couple of parties. But it was fun to watch all the local kids interact with one another! If you’re looking for a quiet beach this is not for you!

This is the beach tourists come to Cancun for. It is nice sand, gorgeous water, beautiful clouds, and lots of people. It extends from the bar area in the north down the isthmus. In the bar area there are a lot of bars pumping music onto the beach. It can be crowded. If you are people watching it is entertaining.

Awesome is the best word for this beach, a picture heaven, perfect for anyone, no waves, no nothing. A short walk behind Coco Bongos go left to the end, huge rock formation protects this beach. The rocks can be walked on for photos, beach is located front of hotel Krystal. Snorkeling is awesome, the sand is powder white. Don't forget to bring a large beach towel sun screen and of course bottle water.
