I loved this "locals" beach. It's not big but the calm waters are exactly what we were looking for. The beach has parking and small palapas for your belongings. There is a life guard as well as security monitoring the area. Take your food and drinks and just enjoy the peace and quiet. We saw some fish, crab and baby sting ray...so take your snorkeling equipment.

Playa Las Perlas is a pleasant walk along Kukulcan Boulevard from downtown Cancun. Local families enjoy the white sand, gentle waves, shallow water, and good snorkeling.

We visited all public beaches of Cancun. Las Perlas is the most clean, very calm. We arrived here at 7 am and every half an hour guys cleaned the sand. There is an amazing tree on the coast. My kids liked it so much. The water is shallow, but not so blue as on other beaches.

I came to Las Perlas beach early to watch the sunrise. When I got there, there was only one other person there.

Yes, the beach is tiny, but if you're staying in Centro Cancun (the city, not the Hotel Zone), you can't beat it for convenience and amenities.

This beach is one of the nearest if not the closest to the downtown. It did take us only 50 pesos to reach it in the taxi from Las Americas Mall. Even the place is mostly popular among locals, there are very strict rules of no vendors or other distracting activities allowed. In general, the beach is very clean, but the water is not so clear due to lots of black water plants or something similar. Of course the main swimming zone is cleared of it. Guards and Security Guys are all around so you may feel pretty safe. They have also few attractions for older children. Bathrooms and showers are clean and well managed by the staff. Shore line is long and fully accessible. So you may enjoy long, maybe 30m each side walks. In general - very recommended place.

It is a beach completely handle by the Government, the parking lot is a little small but you can always get there by bus, if you live here like me, it takes a very short time to get there since is at the beginning of the hotel zone (before the km. 3 I think), the beach is not very wide and to get into the water is a little rocky, however, it is a good beach if you have kids because there's no waves so they can enjoy it. There's some palapas that gives you a very good shade, but if it's Sunday you need to get there early because there's a lot of local visitors, during the week not so many. You can take a cooler with water, can sodas, maybe some snacks and enjoy a few hours sun bathing, just don't take glass bottles, they're forbidden -which makes sense so you don't walk on any piece of broken glass and hurt yourself-

The waters there are calm indeed!

What I liked is that they had a couple of palapa-style eating areas and some benches available - and all for free, normally you have to pay for the use of any kind of little conveniences on a beach.

It's usually empty on week days, but during weekend it's popular with local families: and then they bring everybody, from 80-year 0ld grandma to a family dog :0).

If you in town and want to bathe this is the closest beach. It's quite small, but has some shades. The sand is white like all beaches in Cancun, and of course there is a life guard.
