About
Hello, Welcome to Cancún & Riviera Maya!! My name is Miguel Pasos and I enjoy meeting new people and finding ways to help you have an unforgettable experience. I started as a tour advisor and sales representative at different travel agencies, worked for 11 years and then decided that it was the time to try something different. My passion for my culture, The Mayan Culture combined with my love for archaeology and teaching are the main reasons that made me decide to take this "job". Nowadays I work as a guide in Cancun and the Riviera Maya. I specialized in the organization of private excursions and activities in Cancun, Riviera Maya and other attractions of the Yucatan Peninsula, from Mayan ceremonial centers, cenotes and theme parks to colonial cities and authentic Mayan communities. I have made a selection of the best experiences that you can have in Cancun and the Riviera Maya, this together with the best offer!

Miguel took my wife and our 8year old daughter on a tour from Puerto Morelos to Coba with a stop at a cenote after. Miguel was very well versed and prepared for life in the post-COVID world and we felt very comfortable and safe the entirety of our day long trip. His vehicle was clean and comfortable. He was incredibly knowledgeable and passionate about the history and culture that he shares with you during your journey. He provided lots of great information during the drive and then at the sites it was clear that he really cares about the history he’s sharing with you. After our first tour we decided we wanted to visit more sites. When your daughter is 8 and your competing against a pool, that speaks volumes of how effective Miguel is at his craft.

It would be impossible to say enough good stuff about Miguel. To say he was an amazing guide is simply not enough. He, of course, took us to see things. However, his conversation, recommendations, flexibility, and mini adventures were what made our time with him over the top!

Let's start with communication. Before we even arrived in the country he had amazing communication and we were able to connect on WhatsApp to make sure the conversation easily continued when we arrived. Each day (we did two days with him) he made it easy to plan and arrange times and such.

How about the "guide" part? Miguel's knowledge of the Mayan people and the sites around the area were second to none. He has done continuing education with speciality classes in Mayan history. We learned so much and the fact that him and my wife took history in college made them two peas in a pod! Whether you are just looking for the basic explanations or want to dive deep into a topic, Miguel has you covered!! Also, in addition to going to the "regular stuff", Miguel also took us to some amazing cenotes that barely had anyone there and we got to explore absolutely stunning caves. He went out of his way to make sure we had photos of us going through the cenotes.

Want to take a detour to check something out? No problem! Miguel will adjust and make sure you can check out whatever catches your eye. Also, don't be surprised if you mention you like something and he comes back with a little side adventure option that relates to it. Not only were we able to find a local craft beer brewery to check out, but we had the best octopus tacos ever at a little shop we hit up for lunch one day. His local food recommendations when we weren't with him were outstanding.

If you are looking for the absolute best guide and adventures possible, do yourself a favor and book with Miguel. We travel frequently to different countries and Miguel has made our top 10 guide list for sure!

My family and I have been traveling to Cancun and the Yucatan since 1986. I met Miguel in 2014 while vacationing with a friend. We wanted a private tour and our resort recommended Miguel. Miguel is by far the best tour guide I have ever encountered. Miguel has been our families exclusive tour guide since 2014. We visit the Yucatan 1-2 times a year and we challenge Miguel to find places to explore that we haven't been to. Needless to say, we have been on several tours with Miguel, and he hasn't let us down yet. He is extremely knowledgeable about the area and its history. Miguel is an excellent tour guide. The transportation vehicles are always clean, he is on time and professional. He goes out of his way to make sure your tour is exceptional. Over the years Miguel has become more than a tour guide to us, he is our friend and has been considered part of our family for many years now. You really can't go wrong with his services.

Just do it! Miguel is one in a million. He is so proud of where he is from and it shows. So knowledgeable about the area and will take you to the local areas. We felt so good about helping the local community. It was also awesome that the places that he took us to were not as crowded as the touristy places. I can not recommend Miguel enough. My kids will talk about this experience for years. We definitely plan to use him again and again!

Miguel was phenomenal!
He engaged all members of our diverse age group ( 72 to 9) with an impressive knowledge base keeping it interesting for all . We loved his stories and his laugh.

Miguel was extremely professional. He was early and his immaculate vehicle was roomy for our group of 5. Sitting in the third row was no problem with all the windows and there was no problem hearing.

Miquel allowed us the flexibility we desired in a private tour and his lunch location gave us authentic food.

We were so impressed, we booked a second tour with him that week.

Thanks for making wonderful vacation memories for my daughters and granddaughters.

We found Miguel Pasos on TripAdvisor and decided to book a private tour for the five of us. Miguel was waiting for us at the arranged meeting time and greeted us warmly. He is a certified tourguide and has been doing this for twenty years. His Toyota Mini van was just three years old and very clean and comfortable. He spoke excellent English and was extremely knowledgeable about the Mayan history. Our 10 hour trip took us to Chichen itza, A visit to a Ranch for lunch and a swim in a cenote. The lunch was wonderful all you can eat buffet and non alcoholic drinks. My daughter in law asked Miguel where we could buy a hammock, and he found us a place where he buys them also. Furthermore we asked if we could visit the town of Villalodid and that was no problem since that was on the way back. It is an old colonial town and we had 45 minutes to explore. What was outstanding is that Miguel was not only proud of his heritage, but an extremely knowledgeable guide. Next time in Cancun we will hire him again. Very pleased Californians.

Miguel is a first rate guide, he started to advise us from a few days before the tour until well afterward. As a family of four with 2 pre teen girls we wanted to do our own thing and not join a group tour... it turns out that this was the best decision we could have made as we were on our own schedule.

We had an early start which we were grateful for in the end as it meant we beat the crowds and avoided the blazing midday sun... Miguel was at our hotel at 6:30am on the dot and throughout the drive he kept us entertained with facts and fascinating trivia about the Mayan people specifically and Mexico in general. The time just flew by.

We stopped on the way at a very pristine rest-stop/gift shop to stretch our legs and use the facilities. Miguel took the time to explain the Mayan Solar and Lunar calendars to us and this lesson really helped to to understand the purpose of the Temple.

We arrived at Chichen Itza before the crowds, waltzed in and took loads of photos without other people in the background. Miguel also kindly provided huge umbrellas which we needed as it was 37 degrees in the shade! He seemed to have thought of our every convenience.

On our way out, we bought a few trinkets and had lunch at the on-site restaurant which had a really good selection of tasty food. All the while Miguel was informatively regaling us with interesting facts and advising us on how to bargain with the vendors to ensure we were not ripped off.

We then headed to the Ceynote Saamal which was absolutely stunning. We decided not to swim but took advantage of the on site photographer for some professional shots which were absolutely stunning!

We then proceeded to Valladolid a Spanish town founded in the 1500’s by Francisco de Montego.., it was gorgeous. We visited town square and took photos at the Iglesia de San Servacio, a Catholic cathedral.

The ride home was comfortable in the cool AC and the kids and I slept most of the way back we were back at our hotel by 5... I can not recommend Miguel any more highly. He is a first rate, excellent guide. A++

Miguel, is a genuine, thoughtful, kind, intelligent, interesting individual, and he is an incredible tour guide too! He created the perfect itinerary for my family of 5 (3 teenagers). He was able to keep things interesting, informative, and engaging. We ended up having 2 full days with Miguel. One day was Chitzen Itza, Ek Balam, Ik Kil Cenote, and Vallodolid, and day 2 was Coba, Tulum and 2 cenotes. We really left with a much better in-depth understanding of the Mayan culture, the flora/fauna, the history, the architecture, the geography, etc. He was well worth the cost, as we were able to condense so much into those two days, that it was the equivalent of 4 or 5 day trips with non-private tours.

Priceless. Absolutely priceless. We were on a budget - - with plans to splurge where necessary. THIS was a necessary expense that we do not regret spending the money on.

Based on the reviews I read I knew we didn't want to be on a crowded and hot bus, with a guide telling a large group of people about Chichen Itza. I knew we needed a private tour.

We arranged this tour online after a great deal of research -after narrowing it down - - I resolved to sending emails with specific questions, to measure the level of customer service we would receive.

Miguel replied to my emails within a few hours. I still haven't heard from 3 of the others.

As planned, he was at our resort precisely at 7am. In fairly new, clean and comfortable family van, with air conditioning. One of the benefits of the private tour is the ability to stop when we asked him to, for food, shopping, or restroom breaks. Along the way, he shared stories of the community with us. We were able to ask him miscellaneous questions, about religious histories, how the community was built, and local laws and process.

Once we arrived to Chichen Itza, he dropped us off at the front steps then parked the vehicle. We arrived long before groups because we didn’t have the detours to other resorts to or transfer stations. His extensive knowledge and personal history in the Yucatan allowed him to share not just the history of Chichen Itza, but personal memories that he spent with his father at the ruins. Miguel seemed to truly, absolutely enjoy sharing his knowledge. There were a few areas that I didn’t see the markings, or understand something - - because it was just the three of us - - when I laughed at myself for not seeing or understanding something - - he laughed with us.

We spent about 3 hours there, then left to a Cenote - - I am a little embarrassed to say -- I don’t remember the name of where we went. THAT is how care free we were. It was a little town, with a little restaurant, and an amazing Cenote for swimming. He explained what food we were about to eat, the differences in regional foods, and enjoyed lunch with us. He walked us to the locker room, and then he left us to our own. We enjoyed a quiet relaxing dip and when we were done - - we left. We weren’t on a time limit; our trip was completely customized to our wants, needs, and desires.

The cost was obviously higher than a bus, group, or shared tour. I would do it again . . . and again.

Call or email him. . . he will reply . . . he will meet your needs, and he will exceed your expectations.

We all know if mama aint happy . . aint nobody gonna be happy.
I am a happy-- happy woman.

Miguel created a day specifically for what we wanted. We were staying in Cancun, and he drove us 2 hours to Tulum and gave us a tour of the ruins. I much preferred being in a smaller tour for this because it was hot and we could find shade to discuss and answer questions rather than being in the large tour groups of 20+people. The time at the ruins was just right for my teenagers, not too lengthy but enough to get the history and details for the time period. Then we went to the Pet Cemetery Cenote which was stunning! You should get the wetsuit because the water gets chilly for the hour guided tour. Our guide took some amazing pictures and sent them to us for free, so no need to bring your camera and risk getting it wet. The entire Cenote is a huge cave- we've never seen anything like it even though we did a different cave Cenote two days prior. This one was even more spectacular! After the Cenote, we went to Akumal beach where we had a delicious lunch outside right along the beach. It was a nice way to relax and refuel! Then we met our guide for snorkling with the turtles. My daughter wanted to see turtles so this definitely checked that box. The snorkling and coral reef wasn't that impressive but we weren't going for that reason. So for us, this hourish snorkling tour was just perfect to see turtles in their own habitat. After snorkling, we changed and drove almost 2 hours back to Cancun. It was a long day and I really appreciated Miguel tailoring this to our needs. The van is very clean, has great AC, and is very comfortable for the day...even for a nap on the way home! He also told us to bring drinks and he prepared a cooler with ice so we had drinks throughout the day. This was such an enjoyable experience! We would highly recommend this to anyone because the value per person was much better than what you would pay on a group tour, and you get exactly what you want! Older people, little children, even my teenagers appreciated moving at our own pace. Nothing felt rushed and that helped create a wonderful experience!
