We had an absolutely wonderful time at the falls. We got a bus from Xalapa to Xico (MX $20, ~30 mins) and got off when the bus turned right at a petrol station. We then walked back on ourselves, to a right turn up a hill signposted for the cascada. Then we took a left at the junction and pretty... More

I visited Xico with the intent to visit the town and the waterfall. I caught a bus out of Xalapa near the old market place (Los Sauces) - it was very inexpensive and easy. Buses run regularly both coming and going. The trip to Xico is very short and the scenery along the way is pleasant. When I arrive din... More

This place is amazing. I want to tell you how to get there and avoid large fees: (A) From Central Veracruz City, Take the ADO Bus Line to Xalapa. (B) In Xalapa City, get off at the Bus Station Terminal and wait EXACTLY on the first street which is outside of the bus station. Take the LOCAL bus to Los... More

I was on vacation in Veracruz city. I used public transportation to go to the Falls and it was certainly an adventure in multiple modes of transportation! The Falls are in a little town in the middle of the mountains. If you like nature, this is the right place to go.If you are more of a city person and not... More

Just a short cab ride from Xico to the falls. There is a nice mirador as you enter the fall but the best views are along the trail. Be sure to hike all the way to the bottom (over 300 stairs) for the best close up views.. I loved it! There are also some local restaurants with good foodand drink at... More

Drive about a mile or so down a dirt road between banana trees and coffee bushes, park on the side of the road for free if you can, walk to the various viewing sites to see the cascades and river below. The views are marred by signs for this and that and a pipe above the river that ruins one... More

There is an easy walk (lined with vendors) to a viewing area at an old hydroelectric plant, which allows you to see the falls and the rainbow at the bottom. Very nice (but watch out for harmless-looking bugs that leave you with mosquito-type bites on your hands and arms). Also lots of butterflies. But then you can walk further to... More

An easy and quaint drive from Hico through a coffee plantation, this sight is stunning. There is a short and easy trail to walk that will give you terrific views of the waterfalls and jungle-covered canyon. Have a drink or a meal at the Mirador Restaurant as the staff are super friendly and there's a view of one of the... More

We got here late in the day, we could tell it had been very busy earlier, be sure you come in early to see the whole area, we were told this the area where they filmed Romancing the Stone with Michael Douglas, and it is beautiful the combination of the jungle and the water, be prepared for an easy walk,... I almost left Texolo thinking I had really wasted a long drive to get to a mediocre place and pretty dirty place. Especially after having been to the San Luis Potosi area where you can swim in gorgeous blue water. One important thing - there is no where you can swim here. Don't expect to be able to. I really...
