Should be by donation or free
This place was massively unimpressive.
There are plenty of stores and shops around town that sell Ámbar and they have displays that are pretty much just as impressive as what is on display at this place. Might as well just skip this place and just walk into a store that sells ambar jewelery. If they are going to charge a few bucks to get into this place they should at least make it more fun somehow. Maybe I am being a tad bit too harsh. I guess I am still glad I went. Sort of.

Really interesting museum. I took photos and inscribed murals from Spanish to English afterwards. So cool to hear about the history of Amber in this country, since Amber rose in notoriety here in the 60s.

Didn't have change for 100 pesos (30 pesos each for admission) so they would not let us into the museum. Man behind the desk unpleasant and totally unhelpful. Customer training urgently needed.

The museum was attractive and informative. The young woman at the ticket counter handed me an English language overview of the history of amber, worldwide and in the region, and of the 18th Century ex-convent housing the museum. I was especially struck by the description of the efforts to restore the building to its original structure and design – a particular challenge, since it had served as everything from a convent to a municipal jail. The museum presented a good balance between explanatory material (in Spanish) and ample examples of amber, from its raw state to elaborate carvings, including a marimba, a Rolls Royce and a pair of sunglasses with amber lenses. Attached to well-lit cases displaying examples of amber-encased insects and plants were magnifying glasses. At one end of the exhibit space, a video with English subtitles showed an artisan transforming a piece of raw amber into a small replica of an American football. The museum included a gift shop selling amber jewelry and carvings. Although these were undoubtedly genuine, they couldn’t compete with the museum-worthy pieces I had just seen.

Nice museum. I liked the video they play about how amber is made and how you can recognize real from fake. The staff was very friendly too.

We enjoyed the exhibitions and explanations all in a lovely setting of an old building. Worth spending an hour or so, includes a nice gift store.

The museum is small and in a former convent and the church is being remodeled. They have very good information regarding amber quality and buying tips. Cost: $25 pesos per person.

I did not know much about amber so I learned a lot. Quite the interesting stone. Some stones are really stunning. The history and all facts about it is well explained. Not too much, not to little.
If you know about amber I guess it might not be worth it. Although you can do much worse for 20 pesos.

Quite informational yet small place to visit if you are into amber and its history...Information in English is available and the customer service is excellent. They also sell a great selection of amber jewelry and souvenirs by the entrance; it’s a bit overpriced (compare with prices when bought directly from artisans) but guarantee the authenticity of amber.

No soy experta en esto, pero quizás preguntando directamente en el museo del Ámbar te puedan ayudar. En San Cristóbal hay muchas joyerías donde venden ámbar. Puedes buscar alguna en Internet y preguntar también.
