With its white scrolls of vines and flowers covering its tan facade, this church is gorgeous without being ostentatious. Also, the craft market flanking it on three sides has the central Mercado de Artesanias y Dulces beat for both quality and prices. However, the interior of the church has been closed since 2017 due to that year's earthquake damage, and a corrugated metal fence blocks the view of the lower part of the exterior.

This church is near the market and the inside is still a work in progress as it's currently under refurbishment

The temple is next to the Santo Domingo market (or the other way round). You can enter it by the lateral entrance.

This particular church is on the northern end of the town. The front and sides are surrounded by the market which is aimed at the tourists. (Note - walk another couple of hundred metres north and you will reach the real local market). Again, it's not fatigue but there is nothing special about it. Just another well decorated local church. People visit because it right next to the market and textile museum.

Although we tried to visit this sacred place, we only admired the exterior, as construction works are in progress and the church seems inaccessible at this moment (July 2019).

The markets outside are a must see! The church itself is filled with gold plated walls and shouldn't be missed but the markets are the main draw here. Be sure to try and drive a hard bargain but expect stiffness on certain items (e.g cushion cases which take up to 4 weeks to make by hand!)

Religion is gold. All the Church is covered by a gold paint, It shows that religion is important for Mexicans, whether they are Indios or mestizos. The baroque facade is of extraordinary beauty.

Great respite from the bustling craft market located outside the church. The church itself has beautiful gold leaf carvings and an impressive pulpit carved out of a single tree.

Interesting local church in the heart of San Cristobal. The facade is very intricate and it makes for a nice trip as situated in the central market in San Cristobal
