I was looking for a different type of Spanish school, one that would emphasize conversation over grammar lessons. Amigos del Sol fit this requirement perfectly. For 1 week for 2 1/2 hour each weekday morning I would have non-stop conversations in Spanish with a teacher and either one other student or myself alone with the teacher. My teacher, Sandra, was excellent and carefully corrected our mistakes. The school director Rogelio treated everyone like family. It was an excellent experience and quite reasonable as well. I highly recommend this school.

I highly recommend studying Spanish at Amigos del Sol. I've studied Spanish in several different schools in Mexico and Central America, and Amigos del Sol is the best. Rogelio is sincerely welcoming and very accomodating to one's schedule. Unfortunately I had only a week in Oaxaca, and Rogelio worked with me to find class times so that I could still do the things I wanted to do. What was most striking to me, as a teacher myself of ESL, is that Rogelio understands and utilizes principles of language learning. He zeroes in on what a student needs and finds a way to present the material which is so helpful. I hope that I can study with him again on another visit to Oaxaca. Lastly, my homestay family was awesome. For me, wonderful that it was in a quiet neighborhood without the noise of the Centro. Pati was so welcoming, as being genuinely interested in conversation. So happy to have found this school ;) Aviva

The director, Rogelio, makes you feel welcome immediately, in a genuine way. He checks in with you regularly to make sure your experience is a positive one and is flexible. The teachers plan well and communicate among each other, which is different than other schools I've attended - ie. often you will have two teachers per day at a school and they don't always coordinate. I recommend this school to anyone.

I can only say good things about my 2 week study at AdS. I would like to personally thank Rogelio and Esteban for patiently helping me navigate the Spanish grammar and improve my command of the language. From the very beginning they were very accommodating, flexible, and helped me find my way to the best way to study. I took 3 hours of private classes which were well worth the money. You won't find a place with fancy rooms, expensive furniture, or very central location, but after all you are paying to study, not for unnecessary luxuries. And you do get your money's worth. Highly recommend the school to anyone from a beginner to more advanced. Planning to be back in Oaxaca and to take classes again at AdS every time i have an opportunity.

My wife and I studied Spanish at Amigos del Sol in May 2019. We had 10 private classes spread across 3 weeks to fit in with our other activities in Oaxaca. Rogelio was very responsive to our initial enquiries and was enthusiastic and welcoming to us every day at school. Our main teacher Chris was friendly and professional (and more importantly, patient with us). The classes were interesting and pitched at the right level for our current competencies. We also had some classes with Estevan and he was likewise very friendly and knowledgeable. The staff communicated well with us and with each other and everything ran very smoothly. The school itself is clean, well-maintained and comfortable. We would definitely recommend Amigos del Sol to other potential students. Thanks team!
