When I studied abroad in Oaxaca for two weeks during January 2015, we spent 3 days learning Spanish here. I took the most advanced class, and having already taken 8+ years of Spanish, I was worried I would be disappointed with the class. However, I the lessons were largely conversational based, and I met people from Taiwan, Idaho, and elsewhere.I... More

As the reviews before me mentioned, Rogelio truly is the most amazing, patient instructor. I left feeling like I LEARNED so much in my short 3 hours. Had we had more time in Oaxaca, I would have absolutely taken more classes. Also the school is BEAUTIFUL, with an amazing balcony with a view. Amigos del Sol is breaming with students... More

I spent a month in Oaxaca City in February 2016 and chose Amigos del Sol as my language school due to its good reviews and close proximity to where I was staying (in San Felipe del Agua). A language teacher myself, I was really happy with the flexibility and integrity of the teaching. Rogelio, the director, is so accommodating and... More

Attended the language school six weeks in 2014 and four weeks in 2015 and 2016. From Finland I could have traveled with a direct flight to Spain (5 hours) but instead chose to return Oaxaca (25 hours) because the school with it's staff is superb, the city is beautiful, and my host family (Patricia and Mario) felt like my Mexican... I enjoyed every minute of the three weeks that I took classes at this school, and I plan to return soon. The teachers are excellent, highly skilled, encouraging, and friendly. I had one-on-one classes most of the time with mi maestra favorita, Isis, who not only quickly figured out where I needed to begin, but also gently pushed me along... More

My time at Amigos del Sol was short (I only had four days free to study) but very productive and encouraging. The director, Rogelio, is responsive and accommodating to students' schedules. Before I met Rogelio and my teacher, Isis, I had no idea that I could have a conversation in Spanish--much less about politics, religion, pop culture, etc.! They are... More

With great teachers who are incredibly personable and great at what they do, Amigos del Sol is a great place to spend a week, a month, or half a year learning Spanish. I came to Oaxaca knowing some basics in Spanish but really very little of structure and sentence composition (the things that make you feel like you understand a... More

Amigos del Sol offers an intimate instructional environment, in which the learner is constantly challenged to expand his or her abilities in Spanish. Teachers quickly discern students’ abilities, then work closely with students to improve their fluency. Students are able to select the number of hours they wish to learn, per day. I was there for two weeks, four hours... More

Basically, I had a month off of work, and I simply wanted to be immersed in Spanish during that time. Knowing nothing about Oaxaca, I booked a flight based on these Trip Advisor reviews and the prompt and courteous responses I received from Rogelio, the school's director. During that month, I likely learned more practical, useful Spanish than I did... More

I spent a lovely week studying Spanish for three hours a day. My teacher Miriam was wonderful and patient and really helped to solidify my Spanish. It's nicely located in a different part of town, and Rogelio (the director) picks you up and brings you back to the center of town every day, so you get to practice your Spanish... More
