The fascinating route of this horse riding tour explores four species of wild agaves in their natural habitat plus an agave plantation in the traditional farmlands. Ride with your knowledgeable guide to see and learn how agaves mature and reproduce. Cover on horseback distances and elevation changes that would be very challenging on foot. All the while feast on sweeping views of the great Valle de Tlacolula and the Sierra Juarez.
The duration of the riding is between 2 and 3 hours. Snacks and beverages are provided on the ride. Upon returning to the ranch appetizers are served while participants enjoy a tasting of award-winning artisan mezcal made from four different agaves. Before lunch, learn to make two different mezcal cocktails. Enjoy a leisurely meal on the shady outdoor terrace. Hammocks are nearby!
Take away a complimentary hand-painted 50 ml. bottle of mezcal and printed cocktail recipes.
Purchase of mezcal available.

We were a group of four ranging in age from 15 to 86, and from never-ridden-before to haven't-ridden-in-decades. But we all thoroughly enjoyed our half-day walk on Mary Jane's well-trained horses along paths that wound through the cacti and agaves that cover the hillsides near...More

Oaxaca has some of the greatest biodiversity in the world. Spending time in its natural flora adds another layer of wonder to our appreciation of this fascinating state.

We would give this horse riding trip an average rating. The owner of the horses is a very straight talking Canadian lady who carefully analyses your horse riding skills and comments on your riding ability throughout which we found quite rude. She was very cautious...More

Our horses´ welfare comes first! Your husband explained to to me that he has very limited riding. If we trotted he would have bounced on the horses back as he does not know how to post the trot. This can cause the horses to have...More

I trip to Oaxaca, with some of the highest biodiversity in the world, is not complete without a nature experience. Rural or village life is also what makes Oaxaca such a fascinating state. There are over 1,500 villages in this state! Thank you for choosing...More

We rode the Ruins to Backcountry ride. Highlights of this ride are the massive, old candelabro cacti and the colonial camino real that slices through the valley of Tlacolula. So glad you enjoyed the experience; you're a fast learner. Come back and ride with us...More
