I last visited Oaxaca for the month September of 2017, the year that Oaxaca was hit by two major earthquakes. As a result, the theatre was closed and I didn't get to see it. (I believe its staircases collapsed.) I'll be back this year, staying...More

Located one block from the cathedral, Teatro Macedonia is a small concert hall that's as fine and ornate as any you'll find in Europe. If a concert or show is scheduled during your stay in Oaxaca by all means buy a ticket and go. There...More

This lovely theatre dates from the early 1900s. Good views no matter where you are seated. A varied program of music and shows but dont miss the Oaxaca symphony orchestra if they are playing!

Home to the Oaxaca Symphony Orchestra, this theater is one of a kind, it used to be a casino, and it's architecture is amazing. If you like classical music you should visit, free concerts by Oaxaca Symphony are on fridays at 8pm.

Beautiful Theater, small but with plenty of architectural details in the roof and walls of the theater. Very nice place to listen to concerts and to play in it.

We check the Oaxaca Calendar and Que Pasa Oaxaca on line to see what films, concert or dance performances are scheduled in the theater. Many events are free or low cost. The extravagantly painted ceiling, with scantily clad floating beauties, is a delight, as are...More
