We started our 5 day adventure in Oaxaca with the chocolate and Maize tour by Chris. We had 2 teens and 2 moms in our group. All four of us loved the experience. We were a bit “overdosed” on chocolate at the end, so we might have been fine to end it earlier. Chris is very passionate about the history and meaning behind the heritage cacao and maize of Oaxaca, and his passion is contagious! His insight and thoughtfully curated tour helped us to engage with the unique stories behind the products that have made Oaxacan cuisine so impressive. I highly recommend this tour as it promotes responsible tourism and was very interesting and fun! A win win for all!

we really appreciated our experience with Chris today during our chocolate and maize session. we learned a tremendous amount about the history of chocolate and maize in Oaxaca specifically, and it was all fascinating. we certainly loved all the amazing chocolate we got to try, as well as the lovely meal we had at the pochote market, but we also learned so much about the importance of both foods in the Oaxacan culture. Chris was a passionate and kind tour guide who clearly loved sharing his knowledge with us, and he helped us gain a deeper understanding of and appreciation for the food we were fortunate enough to eat. and make no mistake... the chocolate was delicious and plentiful. :)

If you want to learn about Oaxacan pottery, this is it. The driver and "animator" picked us up in Oaxaca City and drove us to Atzompa, a town famous for its pottery. We learned the ceramic making process from the clay to the mixing to the sculpting and burning. I was surprised to see such incredible reverence and care for the traditions, spiritually and culturally. The family works together, they cook together, and Adrian's stories and Yeyo's commentary made for an unforgettable learning experience. A must do in Oaxaca. José

From the earth, transformed through fire, to the final pottery – Earth, Fire, Food! A mult-faceted approach to this hands-on & multisensory experience. From history, to culture, to geography, rituals, geology, language, ceramics and chocolate & food - lots of attention to details to make this an amazing session. Smell the earth, try your hand on the wheel or grinding cacao beans by hand - learning, experiencing, connecting - special moments and laughter shared with the family we visited that go beyond a simple tour. These are the memories you want to have from a trip, thank you Profundo Sessions.

I can only reiterate what everyone else has said. Excellent knowledge and great respect for the local culture. You get to taste chocolate and corn but you also get to know a lot more about the importance of both.
