It was a really nice way to get to know the city. The tour is about 2 hours long and goes to the whole city.

It was my first time in Oaxaca and this tour gave me strong foundation to understand the rich history and culture. She discussed famous landmarks and architecture, notable leaders, food, as well as Zapotec and Mixtec culture. Elizabeth was knowledgeable and shared details that showed she was proud of her city. We later visited the San Pablo center which turned out to be a peaceful refuge from our sight-seeing.

At times it was hard to hear her. To be fair, there was a large event going on by the church and it was very loud in general, but I would suggest she either step away to a quieter spot or talk much louder. Thanks for this free and educational tour!

Excellent walking tour of downtown Oaxaca including the Zocalo, Templo Santo Domingo, and all the great museums in between. There isn't a set price, you tip what you think is fair (a tip of USD $10-20 per person seems to be the norm for these type of free walking tours). Be sure to ask for recommendations for restaurants, shopping, etc. Our tour guide's tips were on point!

If I could give zero stars I would. The title says it all. We paid 30USD per person for this. You can book this exact tour in town for 200MXN. I don't mean with a different company or anything, I mean the exact same tour, in the same cramped van, with the same non-English speaking guide, for less than a third of the price. All this thieving company does, is take your money and book you a place on this tour. We never met anyone from Free Tour Oaxaca for this. We booked this tour under the impression it was in English, on a website that was in English, with email communication in English, at no point was it mentioned that the tour would be in Spanish. There were 40 people on the tour in several minivans, only we had paid this price. Luckily, one of the drivers spoke decent English, however he was not allowed into any of the archaeological sites and the tour was only in Spanish!

This is the worst case of theft I have ever encountered in 85 countries of travel. Mexico is wonderful and these guys are a blemish on an otherwise incredible place. Just book your tour when you get here, they leave daily anyway. The only people that benefit from booking online with these guys are the owners themselves, your experience will be exactly the same. Let's stop feeding them cash, learn from my mistake.

Dear Client, Thank you so much for bringing this to our attention, we are very sorry that by mistake your were put in the wrong bus with the wrong language, had you brought this to our attention when you where in the city you would have gotten a full refund, as for the other tours you mention. There are in the city, yes you are right, there are companies that offer tours for 10 usd but they don’t nearly offer all the stops that we do or the inclusions. Any way we will try to figure out what went wrong with your tour so that it doesn’t happen again.

Took the food tour that cost $15 per person last week of October of this year 2019 and was disappointed. The tour was not run well or at all informative. It was myself, my sister and a group of 5 others that were a friends.

The tour guide did little except walk us around the city. We stopped at Mezcal store, Mayordomo chocolate shop/ restaurant and large Benito Juarez market. Most of the places/ stalls we stopped at gave free samples to try but would have done that even if we were not on a tour. Guide provided little knowledge and insight. Literally guide did not teach us one thing.

Guide just was wandering around the market and let the group of 5 people take over by letting them run the tour, go off to buy things, stand around and talk etc. guide had no control nor actually ran anything.

Tour was supposed to be 1.5-2 hours. At two hours I had to leave as I had been sitting there for a half hour waiting on other people to finish their beers. The guide just led us around the market blindly and kept asking us where we wanted to stop to eat- no guidance at what stalls were good, no inside info, etc. We finally sat at a stall in the market to eat and the stall was not even a good one- in fact it was a steal crowded by tourists and busy. Definitely not an authentic spot.

Guide lost total control of group and it stunk as people like myself were subject to the large group whims. I did not pay to sit there and watch other Americans just stand around and drink beer.

Didn’t get to complete tour as it went way over. The two hours I did spend on the tour was a waste of time and money. There is literally nothing on the tour that I couldn’t do, try or see alone.

I should have just done free tour. Oaxaca has such rich culinary heritage I was very disappointed.

A bit slow, lacking any enthusiasm. We walked around the top parks and cathedrals hearing main only the facts.. Honestly it was a bit boring.

Please note this is the paid day of the dead tour for $40 usd per person. Absolutely the WORST tour I have ever been on! At 8:30 pm they shove you in a van for 30 minutes parked, than drive in complete silence for another 45 minutes. This is because there is no actual guid just a driver who was in fact drinking mezcal on the way as he mentioned casually when we asked how much longer. Finally you arrive at the cemetery where they give you a broken bunch of flowers and a candle to wander around the graveyard by yourself for 45 min until you go back in the van and wait again for 20 min parked for another van to be ready. Honestly there was no information given whatsoever. The only thing we were told was get out and get in. I would suggest hiring a taxi which I’m sure would be a better value or booking a different tour. I saw others at the cemetery that we’re actually guiding the tour with information...find that one. This is definitely not worth the money or your time!

Dear Charly We are very sorry for your experience as you can imagine the Dia de Muertos Tour is a service that we provide only once a year and does not reflect on the rest of our activities, we assume the responsibility of this bad experience and we assure your it won't happen again. Also to all the clients who came directly to us a full refund of their payment was given (as we gave you). Please consider that this is not the only payable tour we provide but this is the first tour where we have received complaints and bad reviews

This was one of the worst tour I have ever done. No explanations were given and it was overpriced. For the same peice, you can get a private taxi and not have to wait for everybody. It was 1:30 hours of driving for 40 min of walking around with no explanations.

First our guide failed to show up. They rescheduled for the next day after we waited the better part of the afternoon. We got a discount but still believed it to be overpriced.
The tour didn’t include any food from the street. We tried two dishes at the market and a drink each. We were hoping to understand more about the amazing cuisine in Oaxaca. We didn’t seem to have anything that was uniquely oaxacan.
The guide didn’t give us options or explain local produce and couldn’t wait to leave.
Utterly disappointing.
